Lost a month and some

Thursday, December 27, 2012

So sick for so long. I finally gave up after a month and went to the doctor. No fever, no infection. Just wait it out. So now I'm back after getting through Christmas craziness etcetera.

We've entered a competition with Allen's brother and his wife to lose weight. Last time we did this we won! This time they want it by percentage, not the number of pounds lost. They feel this would be more fair. So I've weighed in and am gathering up the last of the christmas crud and going to start living clean. Must get busy! Sitting at the computer is one of my vices. Go Dee, Go!

My first mile in awhile

Saturday, November 17, 2012

So I worked up to it, being so out of shape. But there's a mile on the treadmill. Lets see where that leads. We have just agreed to go on our first cruise in July of this summer, so I have 34 weeks. I haven't worn a dress since I can remember, nor a skirt for at least two years. I can't lose every ugly pound by then, but I can do some.

Lassooed by Twinkie the Kid

Friday, November 16, 2012

The news came on as we watched the conveyor belt at our favorite sushi joint.
"Hostess closes doors". I had eaten nothing at lunch but beef broth and apple sauce in preparing for a trip for sushi tonight. I'm tracking everything and losing weight.

But the gut punch of never having a twinkie again? Ho HO? DING DONG? We ran to the store and watched as a lady pulled the last box of chocolate twinkies. She was on the phone with a companion who was casing other stores. We took three boxes of Ding Dongs at Safeway and hit the Albertsons on the way home. A box of Zingers, two of Ho Hos and one last lone box of twinkies.

We reminisced about craving hostess as kids in a house that could not afford. We laughed about the commercials. Finally, we each opened a box and devoured a treat. Allen had a Zinger, "sniff it first!" I said. I had a chocolate twinkie.

You know what? It wasn't that good. Now what do I do with all those darn treats? Am I strong enought??
Food bank.....or EBAY!!

Save them! In thirty years they will be a collectors item . . . and best of all . . . they will still be fresh.

Hubby helps

Thursday, November 15, 2012

He brought me an apple, all peeled and cut up! He brought me an arbys regular sandwich, so I didn't have to cook on a work night! He gave me some down time so I could play and then keep up my log on the computer. Good Husband.

I wanted to go home early when my ibs flared up today, but I knew the kids needed me in class. Projects are big this time of year and no sub can do it- and it got frenzied today, without a doubt. Stayed late too, taking delivery on more materials for the christmas projects.
But, I stayed on program and got to this blog without feeling deprived because of lots of the right kind of snacks. I had the energy to walk this evening and felt okay about coming back to Sparkpeople (not too overwhelmed) because I recorded my lunch this morning after I packed it. So more than 1/2 my logging was done before tonight. I think that was a good strategy and I will try and repeat tomorrow. Besides, when hubby called hinting that he could bring me fast food, I had to stick to the plan. I followed through! Lets pray the scale rewards me tomorrow.
