Its Working

Sunday, April 14, 2013

It's been quite a few weeks since I started my Dukan journey. I made it through the attack phase -- only had to do 4 days. I am now in the cruise phase - just eating protein and veggies. Of course, I have modified to fit my lifestyle. There are just days that I cannot eat pure protein and add veggies. But it is all good, I am focused and have avoided all my trigger foods -- bread and chocolate in particular. I don't find that I am restricted in the sense that I can still go out to dinner and eat within my parameters of the diet. I just have 5 more pounds to go before I move on and start adding back foods. My biggest motivation is my smaller wardrobe. I am weeding out my bigger clothes and trying on my medium clothes. I am probably going to get rid of the small size because in all actuality I don't look good in the smallest size I have. Funny thing is everyday I think I can't do this any more and I am just going to eat something that I shouldn't, I don't. I grab a yogurt instead and I am satisfied. Of course that part of the motivation is a direct benefit of Spark Coach. Bottom line, I feel good, I don't dread getting dressed in the morning and I can lose the last 5!!!!!

Had to switch it up

Friday, March 29, 2013

I know I probably shouldn't but I am successful on low carb diets. My neighbor told me about the Dukan diet, which I have looked at in the past but didn't think it was doable After she explained it to me, I researched on line and of course on Spark People and decided it was worth a shot. I was already slipping back into my old patterns of eating. I needed to get a boost to my weight loss and I got it. I needed this new focus. It is working for me right now. Since the diet is in phases I know that I will be able to eat more realistically in a short period of time. This is working for me right now and getting me to my goal.

Got into some "old" clothes

Sunday, February 24, 2013

I bought new bigger clothes recently since I got rid of all the clothes I thought I would never fit into again. Once again the big clothes are getting loose and the next (smaller) size is in sight. It is what keeps me going -- my clothes that are waiting to be worn again.

That's a great motivator. I have a closet full of smaller sizes that I keep to keep me going.

Still not on the exercise bandwagon

Saturday, February 23, 2013

I really really used to love to exercise -- go to classes at gym, use weight machines. Now I still have my gym membership but can't get that motivation to happen. Right now I should pick myself up off the couch and at least get moving for a walk. The weather here in Florida is picture perfect -- not too hot definitely not cold and the sun is not an issue. That's it -- I am putting on my exercise clothes and grabbing my music and I am going out. I will be back to track my walf later and earn me some points.

What me stressed?

Saturday, February 09, 2013

I recently joined the sleep challenge. I now get into bed before I fall asleep on the couch and stumble into bed - even if it is just 9:00. But what can I do about my broken sleep when my son with Crone's disease wakes me up because he is so sick he needs to go to the hospital? These last few weeks have been especially difficult for him due to a change in medication. I have not let the stress drive me to the vending machine as I wait in the ER although it is tempting. On the other hand, I consider myself extremely fortunate that he is living at home with his wife and their beautiful 7 month old baby. I guess I just have to realize that sometimes challenges are just that and you have no control over certain aspects of your life.
