Oh, imagine my surprise when I stepped on the scale this morning!

Saturday, August 11, 2012

I don't wanna brag, but I am so pleased and proud of myself. I began my journey by joining Weight Watchers on January 25 of this year at 226.4 lbs.

This morning the scale read 164 lbs. --- I have lost 62.4 lbs. since that important date in January, and haven't found it very difficult at all. I am down from a size 18W to a size 12 which is starting to get a bit big now! It feels great, but the clothes is getting a bit expensive. I'm figuring I deserve it though.

I use this site along with the info. I obtained thru W.W. and a nutrition course I took many years ago (but never used the info until this year) and this is the result ............. so far!

Still gotta get rid of more lbs., hoping to safely and wisely get to 140 - 145 lbs. and then will review to see where I want to go from there. AND ................. how is your day going?

Stories like yours remind me to keep plugging away and eventually all the knowledge and stars align and it all starts to work!! I'm glad you have done it.

For Jenae and me, I think we have a lot going for us today, despite all the different messages about food that constantly bombard us outside of SP. Spark People visionaries have certainly made the tools available to us, AND they are easy to use, no matter what your health issues or diet program you want to use or food choices we want to make. Whether you want to do vegetarian, medifast, Zone, Fuhrman, frutarian, diabetic, hearth health, and on and on: there is a place for you, and people to support you.

And I seem to find the information I need, right when I need it.

And the Motivation. Thanks DeeJon123!! emoticon

Amusing Diet Loss Quotes ...........

Friday, August 10, 2012

1.) The best way to lose weight is to eat all you want of everything you don't like”

2.) The older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight because by then, your body and your fat are really good friends”

and my favorite is from Ellen DeGeneres ....................

3.) "I feel sorry for the newscasters you know? We can turn it off. But that's their job and they have to read these stories and they're just coming up on the teleprompter they don't know what's coming up. and they have to go through these change of emotions. That.. "There were no survivors...And next Which candybar helps ya lose weight! Still to come! Is an asteroid headed towards earth...But first where to find the cheesiest pizza in town! Also, a disturbing study finds that studies are disturbing... "”

Do you like cottage cheese or greek yoghurt? I think these are good for protein. Sherylds has answered you beautifully!

Veggies have a lot of potassium - and not too many calories per serving. For instance a cup of fresh spinach has 168mg of potassium and less than 2 carbs. I usually hit my 3000 mg goal each day by eating carrots, tomatoes, spinach or other dark greens, and a bowl of fruit in the morning. And like Sherlyds said, check the nutrition for each item on the tracker, a lot of times the potassium is 0.

I have a harder time with iron since I don't eat much meat and actually take a supplement a few times a week to hit that number. Protein is the same, I eat beans and a few nuts, but usually think I'm doing well to hit 2/3 of what Spark says my goal should be. I really try to hit that number twice a week but usually have to eat meat to do it, I just keep it lean.

fruit ... as wonderful as it is ,,,is still high in carbs ...especially bananas
even 1 granny smith apple has 22 carbs vs 1 cup of broccoli 6 carbs.
the granola bars are just glorified candy bars....skip them
eat more non-starchy veggies, and leafy greens
as for protein....eggs, fish, chicken, greek yogurt ... you know the drill

as for potassium... I noticed that when I first started spark ...
the explanation...not everyone enters the potassium numbers because it's not on most food labels. check NutritionData . Com if your interested

Age and weight are just a number ... apparently ...... weight loss joke

Thursday, August 09, 2012

Having lost weight over the past few years, a lady was discarding things from her wardrobe that no longer fit.
Her seven-year-old niece was watching as she held up a huge pair of slacks.
"Wow," the lady said, "I must have worn these when I was 183."
Her niece looked puzzled, then asked, "How old are you now?"

I teach kindergarten. Every year my students guess my age. It ranges from 12-100+. All of them say "You're really old". They've been saying this since I started 19 years ago at age 26! Hope you get to discard lots of your OLD pants!

A RUNNING JOKE, enjoy!

Tuesday, August 07, 2012

Two guys are out in the woods hiking.

All of a sudden, a bear starts chasing them. They climb a tree, but the bear starts climbing up the tree after them.

The first guy gets his sneakers out of his knapsack and starts putting them on.

The second guy says, "What are you doing? He says, "I figure when the bear gets too close, we'll have to jump down and make a run for it." The second guy says, "Are you crazy? You can't outrun a bear..."

The first guy says, "I don't have to outrun the bear. I only have to outrun you!
