Last night we had a hail, thunder & lightening storm like no other. I thought the world may have been coming to an end ... LOL
Anyway, as most of my friends know I am an avid gardener and have about 15 containers with beautiful flowers & tomato plants that I baby like they were children of mine.
I had to be brave (or perhaps stupid, I don't know) and save them. Put on a coat with a hood to protect my head from being hit by the large hail (about the size of a large cherry) and started to carry in the pots and put them on towels in my kitchen. Many of course were beaten up some, but so was I.
I only had shorts on and my legs this morning are quite bruised and sore! Holy cow, it felt like I was being hit by rocks! Put the pots of flowers back out this morning and they will pick up with care, but have lost flowers, leaves and some stems are broken, I could cry, but I will laugh by thinking of what an idiot I probably looked like running in and out of my house to get the job done.
My daughter was here & was going to help, I told her no, she would be hit by the hail (no coat, hat, and also in shorts & a little T-shirt.) Instead, she stood in the doorway taking containers from me and laughing like mad as I kept yelling "OUCH" !! Until I came through the door and a stone followed me in and hit her in the eye! ........ I was too upset to laugh then, but today is a different story, got my revenge on her! TEE-HEE, LOL !!!
Today, we are both suffering with the flowers (the tomatoes are fine by the way) and both laughing at the whole thing.

Wow, what a night and what a day! As I said in my last blog my best friend came to stay with me yesterday. Haven't seen her since we went to Maui in February, so was great to get together again.
She brought presents for my granddaughter .... her son is the one of the head honchos at Disney and is responsible for the animators on the Barbie movies, Mackenzie is Barbie crazy, so always get the new movies even before they are released quite often.
She brought me some birthday gifts, completely unnecessary and appreciated .... I won't share what they were to save my own embarrassment, you know how it is when two girls get together. We aren't young enough to be shy about things anymore. Well, between the two of us we never really were when I think about it! Generally the presents are quite .......... hummmm ......... bold and daring - LOL. That is all I will say about that.
We went to a local pub for dinner, and I sorta behaved. Only ate a greek salad, dressing on the side and grilled shrimp, not fried, not battered, but darn tasty! But, and you knew there would be a but ..... I did have a drink, vodka and clamato juice, a very Canadian drink called a Bloody Ceaser, my absolute favorite. It's a good thing I was driving, it was so yummy that I would have had two, Well, let me get honest here, I would have had several!!
Talked into the night, and then this morning we went out for breakfast to a local restaurant. Had a breakfast bowl with Hollandaise sauce. I worked out the calories and we won't talk about that, needless to say I didn't eat much else today, and exercised like a crazy woman to make up for it. But, damn it was good.
And now she is gone, only in town for 4 days and is off to a family reunion at the lake. She asked me to go, but I have 2 dogs that need looking after, and didn't want to take them out there with us.
It was a great, albeit short visit, we likely won't see each other again until maybe Christmas, so we packed lots of visiting into the little time we had. I'm exhausted, believe me ........
make me very - signing off under my new name, 'POOPED OUT'
And how was your day?!

I get a couple of days off from working, cooking and gardening.
My best friend (since age 13 ..... 43 years! ...... oh, wow, I just realized how long we have been pals!)
is coming to stay with me tomorrow, she is the lady in the white dress on my picture. She lives about 1200 miles away now, and we only see each other a couple of times a year. I go out to her home in Vancouver, and she comes to see me as she has family here too.
She is taking me out for dinner for my birthday last Saturday to a restaurant called The Keg, it's a steak house and one of my favorite restaurants, so I guess I blow the diet tomorrow for a one time only special time. I think that I have earned the break with all the work I have been doing around my house for the past 2 weeks ..... still not finished though!! So many plans, so little time in a Canadian summer! Have about 2 months to work on the outside, then in the winter, it's painting time and new cupboards in my kitchen ............. does it ever end ???? !!!!

Well, very early morning today, off to shopping. Had a list of 5 different stores to hit, and filled my car by the time I was done!
Then out to the garden, spent over 3 hours out there and Boy, is it hot. Got lots done though, mostly cleaning up and maintenance stuff but looks great. I really don't know if it was worth all the mosquito bites I suffered to get it done though, unbelievable little 'suckers' !
And, now I have a meal to make for those hungry folks when they get home, Geez I wish I had some leftovers!
Here I go ...... later all.
