Get Inspired

Wednesday, July 04, 2012

I made this beautiful meal plan, but I didn't follow it. I was lead astray by eating for entertainment. I went out to lunch with a girlfriend (2 days in a row). We had a great time, but ate too much and not the right stuff.

I picked up an old Weight Watcher's magazine this evening. I found some very helpful advice in their "Get Inspired" column. It features advice from people on Weight Watchers.

"Start small. At first, I added one vegetable to every meal. If that's all you can do for now, then do it. Each small change that you make will lead to a bigger one."

"When I go out to eat, I ask myself: Is this a special occasion? If yes, I may treat myself. But let's be honest: every time I go out to eat isn't a celebration, so I try not to treat it that way."

"I also stopped taking the easy way out (ordering in!) and always kept frozen lean meat and veggies on hand for dinner. Because I ate those meals so frequently, I never even had to look up the PointsPlus values."

"It's hard to for me to look back; I don't even recognize my pre-WW mindset. I can honestly say that I've enjoyed the journey, and I still look at it as a delicious adventure that moves me beyond my comfort zone every day."

*November/December 2011 Weight Watchers Magazine

I'm inspired. I will start fresh. I'm ready to experience this delicious adventure.

Just do it!
Happy 4th of July!

Dee- I had some bad eating times this past couple days myself! It happens....But, we just get back on track! One day, one step, one meal at a time! I always count my calories even when I go over my calorie range. When you eat out, it is so amazing how many calories are in their food...even things you think are healthy! Geeze!! But, I keep going and I see you are too! Good for you!! Keep thinking like that and you will achieve all your goals and beyond!!
Thanks for such a nice comment on my blog! Don't you just love that Adam Lambert "Runnin'" Song? I played it while we were walking a couple days ago! It is such a good walking/running song! I gave the link to Coach Nicole and she posted it on her Twitter page! emoticon emoticon

It's a process of always shifting your plan for where you are now. What works today, may not work tomorrow! There's a commercial on TV that says, "Make one change." (or something like that.) I've been thinking alot about that commerical lately!

Hope you are having a fun-filled 4th of July!

HUGS!

The Plan

Tuesday, June 05, 2012

I've been trying to jump in the deep end. Now, it's time to try getting use to the water before the plunge!

1.) I will concentrate on eating fresh fruits and vegetables at every meal.
2.) I will drink a large glass of water before each meal.
3.) I will cook more meals at home.
4.) I will exercise at least 15 minutes every day.

I will do this for one week. Then I will increase my healthy actions!
See... I have "will" power. emoticon

Powerful Women

Saturday, May 12, 2012

I found this quote in May/June 2012 Weight Watchers magazine:

"During my weight-loss journey, I wanted to be consistent and stay committed whether I lost or not. When you stick to it, you win, and you learn so much about yourself in the process. At any point, I had the power to decide to stay on the wagon or get off, and I chose to stay."
~Taekeah Scott

We have the power! emoticon

Dee, I did not read that article, nor anything about it, but my BLOG and feeling is just that....CONSISTANCY! Even though, I have to "tweak" my plans some times, either food or exercise, or both; I have been fairly consistant. So thank you, for sharing that with us.

It is not the "Magic Bullet" but each small step, move forward, no matter what, and continue to be consistant, has been the aide I needed and use, and will continue for "my Life!"

Here's hoping you find, the "magic bullet" for you.....I BELIEVE IN YOU!

There's Cake In My Future

Friday, May 11, 2012

That's the name of the book I'm reading. emoticon

www.amazon.com/Theres-Cake-Future-Ki
m-Gruenenfelder/dp/0312614594

I just had to share this excerpt because it relates to our journey:

Scott is talking with Seema about making a piece of art called 'Crap Women Believe In.' This is a quote from the character Scott.
"No woman needs a diet book. Every woman I know knows enough on the subject to write a diet book herself. And it would be a short book, too. Page one: walk every day. Page two: if you're wicked serious, go to a gym three times a week and lift a few weights. Page three: quit eating all that crap. Whether your crap is Zingers every time life throws you a curveball, Twinkies hidden in your desk drawer, or eating a two-thousand-calorie 'salad' loaded with dressing and meat, knock it off!"

This is not a diet book. It's a very funny novel. I'm loving it. There's truth to be found in humor. I found his advice to be very accurate. Just thought I'd share some Joy this morning.

For You, From Me

Monday, March 26, 2012

If you think this poem is about you... It Is.

I was the shirt hanging on the line
You were the breeze that helped me to dry

I was the vegetable all alone
You were the lettuce to make me a salad

I was the sea shell bobbing in the ocean
You were the beach I came to rest on

I was the loose photo with no where to go
You were the decorated page holding a place for me

I was the mountain climber reaching new heights
You were the Sherpa helping me to succeed

I was the dark sky waiting for something
You were the Northern Lights streaking by

I was the dancer who couldn't hear the music
You were the speaker that amplified the sound

My life became richer and more amazing
When you crashed into it!
I hope our paths are always intertwined.
