I am seeing if I can do an ovo-lacto vegetarian diet, but I love my meat. I feel it will be hard to give up chicken. I can do without beef. I eat it, but not as often as chicken. A lot of people around me are turning to the vegetarian life style. I see them quite often, so, why not join 'em! I'm trying out a sparkpeople recipe tonight for dinner. Cheesy spinach enchiladas. I love, love, loveee chicken enchiladas, so this is a definite awesome dinner(minus the chicken, of course!). I am thinking about adding some bell peppers to it. I love bell peppers. Hey, maybe this ovo-lacto vegetarian diet won't be so bad after all.

So lately, I have been reading a lot about the health benefits of flaxseeds, quinoa, and lemon water. I am completely surprised with what I found! I'm sharing three links so you can read about all three.
Today I bought some flaxseeds at Wegmans. I have an herb grinder, so I'll be grinding some up later tonight. I have been looking up some recipes for them and can't wait to incorporate them into my diet.
I've had quinoa before; I had no clue I was eating it. My boyfriend's brother brought a tasty dish over one Sunday and it had quinoa and all sorts of fresh veggies. It was a cold dish and if I find out what exactly was in it, I'll blog that as well!
As for lemon water, well, I've been drinking that for some time now. I love plain water, so it took a while to get used to the lemon flavor. I do love it now, though. I have a juicer, so I have been juicing about five lemons a week and that usually lasts me. I store the lemon juice in the fridge till I'm ready or I'll fill up a pitcher of lemon water for the week. It's so tasty!

I did awful this weekend with eating better. I didn't exercise or eat healthy foods at all. I hadn't seen my family in a while and they wanted to have a cookout with my boyfriend and me. My mom made a ton of food-bbq chicken, corn on the cob, salt potatoes, baked potatoes, mac salad, potato salad. I had everything and felt horrible after. I couldn't help myself. I just kept eating..and eating.....and eating!! There was no will power this weekend. I am so bloated from all of the salt I had and very disappointed in myself as well. I feel like I "slip" almost every weekend and have something that is bad for me, but I overindulged this weekend and feel horrible now. I was doing great and I can't wait to get back on track today with eating better and exercising! Just thought I would share. I know everyone has a bad day of eating. I just need to find will power when I am around so much food and family!

This is the first time in my life that I have committed to a healthy lifestyle and exercising habits, and have stuck to it. I have been feeling great lately! It has been tough, though; I work at Wetzel's Pretzels. It has been two weeks since I made a promise to myself and my co-workers that I would not touch another pretzel ever again. They have been very supportive(although, most of the girls are on diets, so it's easy for them to tell me no).
When I would come into work, I would go straight for the pretzel case and grab a full bag of pretzel bitz(which is a pretzel and a half, mind you). After that, and two cheddar cheese cups later, I would make myself a huge cheese meltdown pretzel. I would then demolish that with a cup of pizza sauce and a cup of cheddar cheese sauce. When I was finally done eating all of that, I would feel so bloated and disgusting. I would have to finish the rest of my eight-hour shift feeling full and tired. It was turning in to an almost every day thing(I work five days there). If I knew I didn't have to work the next day, I would bring home pretzels to have on my days off. It sounds crazy and it was! Who obsesses over pretzels that much? I even got my boyfriend into the habit of eating pretzels all the time. He has asked me almost every night I've worked in the past two weeks for a pretzel and I keep telling him no! I've brought him home one, just one time. Not another one since. I'd rather not see him eating one of my favorite foods in front of me, ya know?
I can't wait to keep updating you all on my progress. I am very excited!
