Thought for the day

Thursday, February 13, 2014

Seen on others blogs:

"Never give up what you want the MOST for what you want at the MOMENT."

Great thing to keep in mind.

About That Early Workout Before Breakfast

Monday, June 10, 2013

Spark Answer to workout time Question:
In the morning, your body has gone 8+ hours since eating or drinking anything. Your blood sugar levels are lower at this point, and your body doesn't have adequate fuel to workout optimally. Usually, experts recommend eating something—even if it's just a small snack—within 2 hours before working out. When your body doesn’t have proper fuel in it, many problems can result, the lesser being that your workout performance suffers, and the greater being something like passing out during exercise. Some people say that it will burn fat stores, but overall, the number of calories your burn during a workout (regardless of where they come from) is much more important. Plus, fat burns in the carbohydrate flame. This means if you exercise without eating (such as after "fasting" during sleep) your body does not burn fat efficiently, or sometimes at all.
(I just re-posted what was on one of my Trivia questions because I wanted an easy place to see it.)

Good idea. I always eat before and after exercise.

emoticon Tomatoes on my tomato plants!! YEA!!

The bugs got all my mustard greens just as they were ready to eat, but the lettuce and spinach have done well. There's something special about having very fresh greens in your salads that you picked just minutes before they're eaten.

How exciting to see the baby tomatoes! I will have a very small garden this year, but tomatoes will be included. Will just be planting them this weekend. Do you start yours by seed? I have been "cheating" the past couple of years and buy starts at the grange. Would love to see pics of your garden if you'd like to share :)

Spring Gardening: Part 3

Tuesday, April 02, 2013

Update on the gardening--Today I had my first baby spinach. It was so good and fresh that I think I'll keep planting new pots as long as the weather is not too hot. So much better than that from the grocery store and I know there's no pesticide on it!!

I'm impressed. Never tried growing spinach. We have a terrible time with white flies and aphids that it is frustrating

is it hard to keep the insects out?
I have a slip in my steps, I have been having muscle aches in my right foot especially, and cramped up last night so that it woke me up three times.
After consulting a few people, decided that I need more calcium/magnesium so that I can metabolize me potassium. had a message today and she did an awesome job on my foot. don't think I will make it to my max steps today, but will try to get a few more in before bed.
We had rain all day, and cold, in the 40's.

    Wow, yummy.
What does a spinach plant look like? Could you take a picture and put it in your next blog?
