One more time...

Sunday, December 01, 2013

Happy December, Sparkfriends! I'm ready to re-commit to my healthy life. Seems I run on a 6 month cycle. Anyone else have that issue??! Started this am tracking my food and activities again. Did make it through the Griffin 5K and had a wonderful time there. Am already committed to going again next October. Still debating whether to walk again or maybe a light jog... Would never have even attempted it without SparkPeople - great motivation and tips from all. I'm going to blog more consistently now - time to step up and get back in gear. Oddly, I usually start "resolutions" in Decembers, not in Januarys because my New Years is spent on reflecting on the past more than making changes. Those I do randomly throughout the year )very randomly). Lol!!

A Renewal of Sorts

Friday, June 14, 2013

Well, Sparkfriends, I finally took the step I kept putting off (for a year). Went and signed on for the Griffin Hospital 5K Cancer Walk this October. Now that I've actually paid to enter and have started emailing my family and friends about it, it's ON!! I believe this new agreement with myself will help get me off the weight plateau, and the motivation of helping to raise money in the fight against cancer (which, sadly, claimed both of my parents) will keep my energy up to see this project through to completion. The best part is, I know if I start falling off again, all I need to do is wander around the SparkPeople site and all your great stories and tips re-energizes me! Thank you all!!

You can do this! I am working on my second 5K Walk which will be in August. There is a 5K Team on here with a schedule to follow. It is great.

That is wonderful!! Letting people know that you are doing this is really important for follow through.

I've been training to do a 5K for awhile now. Now I just need to find one to actually walk, instead of just doing virtual ones.

Good for you. Signing up and telling people about it is key! Now you just need to get out there and start walking so you are ready for it!

My First Blog Ever!

Sunday, March 03, 2013

Well, with the start of a new month, March, I guess it's time to start a new project. I'm slowly making progress toward a healthy lifestyle after decades of neglect. Finding SparkPeople has been a dream come true for me! The Nutrition Tracker has been especially helpful - I never paid attention to what and how much I have been eating! Now that I can see how many calories are in my favorite foods (uh-oh!) and, even more eye-opening, how much fat I have been eating, I've been able to be more conscious of my intake. Have lost 12 pounds without really doing more than being aware! The best way for me is to track what I eat before I actually eat it - if my hair stands on end, I eat less!!! Lol!
Guess that's enough for today - this may be sporadic, but I'm game to keep trying to blog...

Congratulations on losing 12 lbs! I agree that tracking what you eat is soooooo important. Like you, I have been tracking every bite and sip I take and I look at options before I settle on what will really fit for that day. Good luck! emoticon

You don't have to blog every day. Many of us don't. But it is really helpful, I find, to share honestly where I am on the journey. If I "fall off the wagon", I come here and blog about it --not to beat myself up, but to be accountable. I own it, and then let it go.

And my SparkFriends are so encouraging, so supportive.

We'll be here for you, too!

Wonderful progress you are making. Yup, that hair standing on end is always a tell-tale sign LOL.
