Week 1 of 30 Day Shred

Friday, July 27, 2012

I'm feeling SO much better now that my eating is mostly back on track and I'm exercising again. I'll be ready to move on to phase 2 of the 30 day shred on Monday (10 days) per phase is my goal). Phase 1 is starting not to be a challenge any more so I'm going deeper in my squates and lunges and really focusing on using my muscles more with the arm movements. The cardio isn't kicking my butt anymore and I'm not wheezing haha. Week 1 results:

Weight 185.6 (-2.6)
Waist 35" (-1")
Hips 44" (-1")
Thigh 24" no change
Calf 15.5" (-0.5")
Arm 12" no change

Not bad for one week!! I am also starting to fit more and more into a size 14. I'll post another blog of my zipping my "goal dress" and my new goal article of clothing...size 12 jeans! I'm really hoping to wear these jeans on my Ireland trip in October.

I have more energy during the day now, but getting up in the morning has been a struggle. I'm not sure if Jillian is wearing me out, or making me have more energy...but I've been pushing through and exercising every day. I think I need to add some more cardio, but I'm not sure my legs can handle it. Any suggestions?

ATTA GIRL! I too am almost into my size 14's! My aim is to be into size 12 by Christmas! Ya with me?
I'm not doin g a 30 day shred but am doing XBOX virtual smash, walking when the weather permits and my stair climber when it doesn't. I just got my hands on some hand weights 2 5 and 8 pound and am going to start doing my squats and toning come Monday
My measurements are very very close to yours so we are about the same size My weight is a little lighter but I'm up for a bit of a competition if you are? See who can get into their 14's first
I'm thinking moving around my 800 pound oak bed this morning will have burned quite a few calories LOL
Let's emoticon

Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred

Friday, July 20, 2012

Starting Measurements:
Weight 188.2
Waist 36"
Hips 45"
Thigh 24"
Calf 16"
Arm 12"

I started this yesterday. I have to admit, I was so sore today I did NOT want to get up and work out. I'm pretty sure Jillian Michaels is not human. Least to say, I did get up finally and worked out. My arms are killing me, my legs burn, but I know it's all for a good purpose! This is my way of getting back on track. I need to stick to a 30 day program, I'm determined. Eating is slowly getting back on track. I'm hoping to not be MIA anymore!

Protein & Fiber

Thursday, June 14, 2012

I know protein is an important nutrient for weight loss. When I get enough protein, I don't have headaches, I feel good, and I feel fuller longer. What are some good ways to get the minimum 60g of protein per day? I find myself struggling with this.

Also, fiber. Getting to 25g of fiber per day is difficult without consuming insane amounts of carbs. I'm doing well if I get 15-20g per day. Suggestions?

I have being using protein in all these weird ways this week- Protein pancakes made with protein powder, oatmeal with protein powder, smoothies with protein powder, amaze balls with protein powder! haha
Also eating boiled eggs for a snack, greek yogurt or cheese helps!
Let me know if you want recipes!

COLESLAW with red and green cabbage is a good source of fiber and veggies.
I keep a container in my fridge and add the dressing last minute
(there are plenty of recipes for confetti coleslaw... red/green cabbage & carrots)

my asian dressing is rice wine vinegar, a little sesame or olive oil, and grated ginger.

TARGET has Fiber Gummy Supplement that are 5g of fiber for 10 calories. They are really good!! As for the protein, your target should be a little higher in the 70g range or higher. The protein will provide you a full feeling.

If you shop at COSCO, they have Premier Protein shakes, which the chocolate is like drinking a chocolate milk at 30g of protein with 160 calories. Provides a nice full feeling after drinking it too. I hve not tried the vanilla, so don't know how the taste is for that one.

WAYYYY Off Track

Thursday, June 07, 2012

It seems when you get really off track and you're less active on here, you receive less support. Therefore, its a vicious cycle of staying off track. The past couple months have been nothing short of chaotic!! Here comes my rant:
-My knee was deemed as having lost some cartilage and that's why I was in so much pain. I have been taking glucosamine with chondroitin for almost a month now and it seems mostly back to normal thank goodness!! Most people if they couldn't exercise would watch what they eat even more, but not me! When I can't exercise, my whole plan just goes to the wayside. I have been eating HORRIBLY and have felt the effects. Thankfully I've only gained about 2 lbs in the past month, but it's two more lbs I now have to lose on top of the 37.
-I have also been really down with feelings of lonliness and sadness. My divorce has been final over a year now and it's not that I miss my ex, but that I miss having someone there. There's been a couple that have shown interest, but nothing I'm willing to write home about. My grandfather was diagnosed with cancer in the bladder (he had it in a kidney two years ago) and possibly the aorta. He's 77, so this will be no picnic.
-I had my wisdom teeth out Monday. Still recovering, but doing well.
Now that everything is starting to normalize again, I really need to get back on track and get my booty into gear! I'm hoping my friends here will help me with that. I have joined a 10 week challenge at work for exercise and I really want to do well!! I need to get back into Zumba and strength training.
I ordered my bridesmaid dress for the November wedding in Texas today. I'm hoping by the time it comes around they'll have to alter the crap out of it haha. I really want to lose about 20 more before the wedding...gives me just under 5 months to do it. And Ireland is rapidly approaching, 4 1/2 months for that trip! Sunday I take mesurements for the third time, I'm a little scared of the results...
So thanks to the friends who have been checking up on me over the past couple months. I'm back!

I've decided to do a modified version of the Fat, Sick & Nearly dead reboot. My modified version will be all-veggie meals with protein added, such as salad with chicken breast on it, stir-fry, etc.

I'm going to do it for 10 days and see what happens.

Just a thought to share with you.

Wow sounds like you're going through a lot, it's nice to see you back on the site though emoticon emoticon
2lb in a month isn't too much of a stress, you can lose that easily if you get back on track! Plus you've got a great incentive with the wedding photos!

Don't try an overcompensate for your time off or you'll only exhaust yourself. If you ease back in gently you'll be fighting fit in no time!

Good luck, thinking of you!
