First Day of School

Tuesday, August 03, 2010

Today is our first day back to school. Our opening day went very smoothly. Hope everyone has a great year.

A man walks into a restaurant with a full-grown ostrich behind him. The waitress asks them for their

The man says, 'A hamburger, fries and a coke,' and turns to the ostrich, 'What's yours?'

'I'll have the same,' says the ostrich.

A short time later the waitress returns with the order 'That will be $9.40 please,' and the man
reaches into his pocket and pulls out the exact change for

The next day, the man and the ostrich come again and the man says, 'A hamburger, fries and a coke.

The ostrich says, 'I'll have the same.'

Again the man reaches into his pocket and pays with exact change.

This becomes routine until the two enter again. 'The usual?' asks the waitress.

'No, this is Friday night, so I will have a steak, baked potato and a salad,'says the man.

Same,' says the ostrich.

Shortly the waitress brings the order and says, 'That will be $32.62.'

Once again the man pulls the exact change out of his pocket and places it on the table.

The waitress cannot hold back her curiosity any longer. 'Excuse me, sir.
How do you manage to always come up with the exact change in your pocket every time?'

'Well,' says the man, 'several years ago I was cleaning the attic and found an old lamp. When I
rubbed it, a Genie appeared and offered me two wishes.
My first wish was that if I ever had to pay for anything, I would just put my hand in my pocket and
the right amount of money would always be there.'

'That's brilliant!' says the waitress. 'Most people would ask for a million dollars or something,
but you'll always be as rich as you want for as long as
you live!'

'That's right. Whether it's a gallon of milk or a Rolls Royce, the exact money is always there,'
says the man.

The waitress asks, 'What's with the ostrich?'

The man sighs, pauses and answers, 'My second wish was for a tall chick with a big butt and long
legs who agrees with everything I say.'

Lesson of Life

Thursday, January 28, 2010

I feared being alone
until I learned to like

I feared failure
until I realized that I only
fail when I don't try.

I feared success
until I realized
that I had to try
in order to be happy
with myself.

I feared people's opinions
until I learned that
people would have opinions
about me anyway.

I feared rejection
until I learned to
have faith in myself.

I feared pain
until I learned that
it's necessary
for growth.

I feared the truth
until I saw the
ugliness in lies.

I feared life
until I experienced
its beauty.

I feared death
until I realized that it's
not an end, but a beginning.

I feared my destiny,
until I realized that
I had the power to change
my life.

I feared hate
until I saw that it
was nothing more than

I feared love
until it touched my heart,
making the darkness fade
into endless sunny days.

I feared ridicule
until I learned how
to laugh at myself.

I feared growing old
until I realized that
I gained wisdom every day.

I feared the future
until I realized that
life just kept getting

I feared the past
until I realized that
it could no longer hurt me.

I feared the dark
until I saw the beauty
of the starlight.

I feared the light
until I learned that the
truth would give me

I feared change,
until I saw that
even the most beautiful butterfly
had to undergo a metamorphosis
before it could fly.

UK Lost Today.

Wednesday, January 27, 2010

What a last couple of days. Yesterday UK was ranked # 1 and was 19-0. Today President Obama called Coach Cal and congratulated him on their raising a million and a half dollars for Haiti. Tonight they they lost their first game. What a bummer. Oh well, I guess now the pressure is off and they can relax and play ball.

I saw that game. What a surprise. Even though I am from SC, I am not a Gamecock fan. I like the ACC. KY has a good team and they will go far in March Madness.
