Chilled to the bone

Wednesday, September 08, 2010

We ahd Dragon boat Practice tonight and it was the first time I ahd paddled in a constant downpour. Hail was expected but it doesn't stop us from practicing. Only if there was thunder & lightening would it keep us away. My clothes were plastered wet to my body and i was getting chills. We did the full hour and left. I was almost in tears as robert helped me out of my clothes. I hope i don't get sick for thsi weekends Races. Coach was not there as she got sick from painting earlier and had ingested the fumes. I called her and told her i won't be doing that againl I wasn't a happy camper...

That sounds like a miserable hour. I hope you got a warm shower as soon as possible and maybe that cold was warded off. Take some preventative measures so you won't get sick for the weekend.

Paddling on the Willamette river with my daughter

Friday, September 03, 2010

Boy, what a fun evening with my daughter aboard our "Blind Ambition" Team boat. She picked me up and drove me to practice dropped me off and set out to find parking place. Portland is H@ll when special events are taking place. You cannot find parking. so she parked ina garage and paid $6.00. Ugh!! My team was so very happy to see her. This first picture is my beloved friend mei Ling Wong who lives downtown in the "love Joy" Apt. building and Ashley applied to mvoe in there yesterday. Mei is living us on the 14th right after our Race weekend weekend of the 11 and 12 of this month to move to Washington State. We are having a big karoeke night at Cheerful tortoise Bar tomorrow night as a going away party. I'm sharing pictures that were taken by David my Tiller who steers the boat in the back. Ashley and i sat together. she in the black and white striped top w/blue PFD and me next to her in yellow PFD. Her arms will be sore today. She was surprised her soon to be 54 yr. old mama paddled the whole practice so good and she got so tired and worn out and felt like crying. I said "honey, I could not do it the first time either. it takes practice. " It was fun. We dropped tyanne off at home on oru way to oregon City and Robert had a nice breakfast ready for dinner. Sausage and cheese omelette ash had a waffle i had rye toast.

We'll hook up again today or tomorrow with her as we cell phone shop.

These pictures are on the Willamette River skyline . You see Ross Island and the famous Hawthorne Bridge. Our upcoming race will be from the ross Island Bridge to the Hawthorne Bridge.

I love my daughter so much. she is my life. Hope you enjoyed it.
Blessings!

Excited today

Thursday, September 02, 2010

Why? Well my daughter, Ashley is picking me up at 4:30 and driving me to Dragon boat Practice in Portland on the Willamette river. she's going to come on our boat today for the first time and ride with us. My team all love her. they have adopted her and vice versa. I can't wait.

Unfortunately Robert is not coming today. He is having a big Optholmolagist appt. with his eyes being dilated too close to my practice time. He won't be driving.

He needs new glasses since he's got good insurance now.

I'm taking my digital camera in a ziplock bag so it stays dry and safe from the water and will be hopefully posting pics tomorrow.

Improvements-Even if it's just a little bit

Tuesday, August 31, 2010

This is Me & my little girl now 20 about a week ago.

I had my 3 month follow up with my Dr. today about my diabetes and blood work. Last week I was in the lab and ahd a great techie who was fast, prompt and painless (almost). I didn't use any foul language that time. Well my A1C is down from almost High level of 6.9 to 6.7. So that is a little improvement. I've been working hard. No fruit after lunch time or no sweets late in the day. It does help. My cholesteral, blood pressure and thyroid level was all very normal and good numbers.

Now if i can just do some more exercise. I'm doing my Dragon boat practices twce a week and walking twice a day and on occasion pool exercises but still it's not enough.

I'm down 3 pounds in the last 3 months.

Enjoy your day!

    Every ounce counts!
I'm glad you're A1C came down and your other numbers were good.
Sometimes we wonder why we do this - and then realize we are doing it for ourselves and the ones we love - to be with them longer.
Stay positive,
Sheila emoticon
