Lunch with my lovely daughter...

Tuesday, July 14, 2009

Robert and I left about one pm to meet Ashley in happy Valley for luncha t a Sushi Bar. was called Sushi Land. I was amazed as I ahve never been in a place like this. She si really good with chopsticks. Something i never got the hang of. We sat ina booth and there was a moving track road with zillions of sushi on it and each plate was covered with a lid. She would jsut grab the place and use the chopsticks and eat it and grab another. I have only had one type of Sushi and loved it. It is called Inari. A sweet wrap with white rice and i would take a bite of ginger as i bit into the sushi. Well i tried a few new things today but just a tiny bite and gave it back to Ashley. One plate with 2 Sushi's was $1.00. this was all i had plus my ice tea. Ashley had like 6 plates of various kinds. including Squid, Carp, tuna, crab, inari, abalone and things I can't even pronounce. i will go back again. I ahve not ahd good sushi ina ges. It was good ahving a fun visit with my daughter and she said I need to get good with chopsticks before my Singapore trip in next June. OMGosh!!! Just 11 months away.

Have a fine evening everyone.

I have never had Sushi and I don't think I'd like it. If I knew there would be something else that I did like, I would try it. My son like sushi, so not all of it is fish, since he's a vegetarian. That's probably the kind I'd like, if I liked any at all.

Sounds like you had a great time in Kent. You should have a water bottle of orange juice, when you are racing. I think that would help better than life savers, wouldn't it?

I took an oriental cooking course a long time ago and one of the things I leared to make was sushi. I never did like it because I don't like raw fish. I'm glad you liked it and enjoyed yourself. I lve going out to diner with my Ashley. We have the best conversations without interruptions.

I'm Baaaaaaaaaaack...

Monday, July 13, 2009

No pictures this time. Robert didn't go. I went alone. Had a great time. I ended up staying an extra night longer than planned. We are in the Finals! woo Hoo. First race I participated in. Sat out 2nd race was feeling low blood sugar spell creeping upon me. those two races my team came in 3rd place our of 4 boats. Here comes little debbie in the 3rd race and I said "Ok, team, if we win this race it's because you ahve ME on the boat!" We won that race by a long shot. hence the foturne cookie I had the night before that actually came true. It announce "You are soon to become a winner" Then after this race the winner got sick. So much exercise almost put me to the ground. these low blood sugar spells brought on by being diabetic really got to me. I even ahd 2 lifesavers but it was not enough. I was shaking, clammy, irritable and sweating like a bullet. Hyperventiliating. I got ice water thrown in my face. It did help me come back to normal. I yelled at the woman who did this. It's not appreciative. Even coach said so. I welcome the spray bottle coach uses but not being dumped on like that. We walked away proudly in awards with a Bronze medal. (we were 3rd in our final race. Victory is sweet! My team has improved a lot. But you know what? the last 2 days of being in Kent, Washington I ahd no medications. I didn't bring enough. And I ahd a belgium waffle yesterday morning with real syrup on it. Not the sugar free stuff i use at home. so last night when i checked my blood sugar I was shocked to find it was "575" It really alarmed robert. But I'm fine now. Back on track and eating properly. I did eat as best as I could there. the chinese restaurant next door to the hotel was so yummy.

I've About 3 days I've been off line. So much emails. I'm playing catch up. I came home to a whole new hard drive. It's faster with much mroe memory. Yippeee.

We are looking to move. I'm searching for a house with a yard.

I felt so honored because I was invited and accepted a dinner invitationa t the state of Washingtons Dragon Boat Sports President's home. We ahd a BBQ. It was a lovely time Saturday night.

I'm hoping all of you are blessed. Me, I'm alive! I'm healthy today! I'm blessed!

I'm glad everything turned out well and you were OK. It must have been a very scary time. You need to carry something more than lifesavers the next time. You were already in winner in my book before you took to the water.

Have you considered low carb? It's been a life saver for me & my type 2 diabetes, I have not had a low episode in the 18 months I've been eating this way & take no meds for the diabetes, totally controlled by diet & exercise. My A1C is 5 & I'm usually in the 80's & 90's.
Just a thought,

Away for the weekend... kent Race coming up Saturday

Friday, July 10, 2009

With an optimistic mind approaching our Kent, WA Race on Saturday morning bright and early at 9:30 we will hit the water with less than half of our team participating. We will be borrowing guest members from other teams. Most of the Team members are at the American Council for the Blind convention taking place in Orlando, FL. We need a lot of luck here. I'll be gone for the weekend. Blessings to you all

A new Spark Walking buddy

Saturday, July 04, 2009

We took Ashley with us to the river yesterday. I introduced her to my beaked friends. she was armed witha loaf of bread we buy for jsut 69 cants and I ahd a box of crackers from the Dolalr tree. She loves them jsut like I do. they are a friendly bunch. she thought it cute how i blow my emergency whistle and they come from all over the area. Even the seagulls and pidgeons know me.

Ashley lives in a complex with a gym and a pool, whirlpool and steam room and she told me she ahd been exercising everyday. I, of course, gave her a lot of praise. She knows of my struggles and we had a nice walk. I took her to the area where we watched the sea lions in early spring.

After dropping Ashley offa t her home, we went on to do some shopping. I stocked up on fruits and melons and veggies. I bought an already prepared rottiserie chicken and removed all the skin and had some with a few bites of melon for lunch and made me a great salad with chicken for dinner and more coming up today.

Later in the evening I met a new friend who lives near my home. Her Spark name si BallardKit. She is cool! While Robert walked Tuffy Kit and i made several laps around the park at a good speed and then I begged out because I didn't wear my knee brace and my knee got weak.

Kit is a strong willed woman. She ahs survived a bad accident witha broken ankle and knee and hip along with replacement. She looks so fit and trim. Her strides were long and mine very short. She is a pleasant tall woman. I hope to pick up speed when we meet again but i did get in some great cardio.

Nathan is feeling better. Right after his last round of chemotherapy he had a lot of hair follicles that got infected, so he had to be on medicine for them, and I had to do "wound" care for them. The doctor said it is common since his Immune Count was down at 700 and the minimum is 1500. We have bacteria on our skin all the time and we fight it off, but for him, it got into the pores. Amazing how fast we can get infections. Makes you SO appreciate our healthy bodies.

He is doing better They didn't give him the Neupregen to stimulate his bone marrow this last round, so his Immune System has has to recover on its own. He is looking better. I just have felt sorry for him. BUT, we have had to deal with it otherwise the Cancer would certainly kill him.

I think about Farrah Fawcett and all she went through.

    Happy 4th,
Love the pictures of you and Ashley. She is so beautiful ! Sounds like you are working on the foods really well. I've been enjoying my fresh picked Raspberries every day. My bushes are so loaded this year. I planted Strawberries this year so hope to have some next spring.
My son Jarrod is here this weekend. He will move into a studio apartment on Monday. I took him to the store to get a few staple's. He hadn't eaten since Tuesday cause he was out of money till his payday on Friday. I don't know how he can go for days with no food. I told him to take it easy with how much he takes in the first few days cause the metabolism has probably slowed down to a crawl trying to keep him from starving. He's a big guy and it takes lots of calories to work a strenuous job and maintain. He has a friend loaning him a bed till he can have some extra money to buy one. One good thing he now has insurance again. Yee Haw! He's still feeling pretty bitter and the really bad thing is...his best friend for the last 15-20 years is now in Tiffany's snare. He's with her now. Jarrod was really upset about that. I sure made a big mistake when I thought I knew who she was. I really thought she had Christ in her heart, but her actions tell me different. Well enough on my ramblings. Have a great holiday. I know I will eat too much...going to two different BBQS today.

Hugs Sue
