What a surprise...

A visit from my beloved daughter, Ashley last night.
She has had her car for about 8 months now. Called her dealership and was in tears. she ahs had Five tire blowouts in that time and ahs spent money on new tires on all 4. Her steering wheel literally just fell off and was dangling. She kept a suitcase and clothes and school books for college in the trunk and the rainy weather we ahve ahd has leaked through the roof of the car and soaked everything and caused a nasty mildew smell. they told her to come in and they exchanged her car for a brand new 2010 Toyota corola and a pretty nice ting. It looks like a Jag.

this morning i ahd an appt with my Lap Band Surgeon. Still no fill. I'm down another 5 pounds. It's slower but it's still going. boy was I surprised. i actually thought I ahd gained. So because I ahve lost she won't give a fill or adjustment.. Now i go 2 months until i see her again. I'm 12 pounds away from my goal.

Looking back on the day with alughter...

Thursday, February 02, 2012

Leone has been sleeping in my bed replacing tuffy . she woke me darn early this morning around 5. she ahd to go out potty. so i put on a furry robe over my long flannel jammies and my slippers and we head out in the dark not wanting to wake robert. (YOu know why i want a flipping house with a yard?) she would not go but we got chased by skunks. Ugh

And so... a little alter we head out to clackamas the Diabetic bakery. Everything is sugar free and i purchased 2 scones. This would be my first ever attempt at a scone. I never ahve even seen one but hear so much about them. I bought 1 lemon and one cherry/hazelnut. Happy with my $4.00 purchase we head out to the car and it won't start. Robert tried for over an hour and a half to get the key to turn and he can't get it to go. He called a friend who came and before he got there the car started. He went home with his friend and is borrowing his big white truck. I need a stool or a ladder to get up in this truck. I'm just 4'11"

He dropped me off at this place and he went home and i could not turn on my relay service to cancel my neurology appt that was scheduled for 3 pm and my Dr. ws to discuss treatment or the next step. So i sked one of my friends to call for me and she did. I was so grateful for her help. Geez to be me...

So my appt. was cancelled and we have to call as soon as robert gets home if he does to reschedule soon as we can.

A happy ending...
This scone is darn good! It's in a cupcake paper and it's like a hardish pastry dake and the center cut out and stuffed with a delicous cherry/hazel nut filling but no sweet fructose/sweeteners tasting this tastes all natural and fresh picked cherries. I'm a happy camper.

It is good you will be able to reschedule soon, that will help,
You must have read my blogs on scones. I have been making the over 60 years now. Gran taught me how at 5 years old using a coal fire oven to bake them

I make 4 batches at a time and put them in my freezer. When any body comes here they never turn down my English tea scones. I have reduce sugar added white whole wheat and King Atrher non bromated flour. DH likes them best with raisins in and he prefers to eat them with Spread, no longer butter.
I bake them now with Canola oil and liquid eggwhites.
I hope they did not upset your digestion. HUGHS Pat in Maine emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

What a day. Hint, sometimes a key won't start is for several reasons, same with not going into gear like reverse: When you turned the key off you were either: Against the curb, rolled a bit afterwards or the steering wheel wasn't straight so you have to work the steering wheel with 1 hand and the key with the other or to have someone push on the front of the rig to loosen things up so you can start it and move. Been there several times in the past with the rolling bit and still do the other with the key if I forget to put it in neutral first, take my foot off the break, wait a second then put it in park. emoticon emoticon

What works for me may not work for you...

Monday, January 30, 2012

Ok so lately I've been having a lot on my plate. I ahve not been eating properly. Too little or too much of the wrong foods. there's been weight gains and rapid weight losses. Nevertheless I'm aiming to get back on track.

Soon after my Lap Band surgery I came to a fork in the road. I was not losing and couldn't figure out why. I thought I was too smart for the protein shakes. Big mistake. My body needs protein like it needs water. I also notice that when I don't drink enough water or tea my weight loss is slower or none at all. the more water I drink the more weight comes off.

My favorite form of exercise is walking in the lovely Oregon parks near my home or on my treadmill here in the house. Because of my poor vision failing due to MG I ahve sued this as an excuse to not walk. Yesterday my trusty lovely guide dog Leone and i walked a mile. It's a start. & it was raining.

It takes me 40-45 minutes to eat one meal. A lotta time, huh? My surgeon said "stop at 40 minutes".

My eating was not what it should be.

I spoke publicly of not being able to eat a donut. there are lots of things I can't eat anymore that I sued to love but I do not regret one bit having the lap band surgery. I can't eat cakes, donuts of any kind, soft breads or buns, fresh crispy veggies, brocolli stems, apple skins and some kinds of chicken, bacon , etc.

I received a letter from a spark friend named Ilene. I actually thought she was a bit ahrsh in her outspoken beleifs on diet. she is a Lap Band Recipient. The letter was quite harsh in caps. Telling me "You can't ahve Donuts. they are poison to your body!" and she went on to lecture me about other things.

I was ultra sensitive. Almost pouting. Yeppers, me hurt. But then she wrote me and apologized. I was actually tempted to leave the lap band team to avoid her. Her lecture was actually a gift of love to me. I learned from her letter. Ilene has since beccome a close friend of mine. she has lsot over 80 pounds the first year after lap band and I ahve lost over 70 pounds in 10 months and I credit her help for that. she ahs taught me not only about lap band nutrition but diabetes as well.

Some foods I have given up almost completely like the white stuff. wite bread, things with white enriched flours, white potatoes, white rice, white pasta and so on, white cereals. I did not realize that these things not only some of them like rice and pasta expand upon swallowing and can clog up the band but they turn to sugar and digest poorly compared to a low carb veggie.

Without the white stuff the weight is coming off FASTER!

I ahve one 30 gram protein shake a day usually as an afternoon snack and it is filling me up.

I've learned to love Turkey breast in the crockpot. Usually cook one a week. thanks Tweety!

If i should ahve a Lean cuisine i take out the rice and pasta unless it's wild rice or brown rice.

Thanks ILENE for your help and support! I love you my friend.

This is so interesting to hear and learn from. I know the 'white stuff' is a real issue for me, and I don't have a lap band. Just another 'underline' for me.

What a blessing some people can turn out to be, even when they initially frustrate us.

Sometimes typed words can deliver different emotions than those intended,, kinda like that old thing about never asking a woman when she is due: she isn't.. she maybe due to bop you on the noggin, but the only person you see is her!!

You are learning at a great pace,, I did watch Dr. Oz and his wonder at how the GP surgery ends diabetes and high BP immediately,,

Onward & upward...

Sunday, January 29, 2012

Although I tear up and get all emotional when i see that final picture of tuffy & I brought home some bones with rib meat on it last night jsut for him and he wasn't here I'm going to move on but will never forget him. I have never had a pet die before in my arms like this so it's especialy ahrd on me.

We couldn't find parking at Red Robin last night when I was so craving tortilla soup so we went to a buster's Texas grill. I ahd 1 bab back rib and brought the other 2 home for tuffy but will give the meat to Leone in ehr food later.

When we couldn't find parking we went to Pet Co. I bought Leone a new Collar. PetCo is her favorite store. Oh my goodness I ahve ahd nightmares she she gets free of my hold and goes wild in that store. Need I say the mischief she gets into there?
Well we met a puppy Trainer from Guide Dogs for the Blind the boring, OR campus and she had a baby Yellow lab with her in the harness jacket. she asked me about Leone. I proudly told her we are from Palm Springs Guide Dogs of the desert. Leone so wanted to get closer to sniff the baby yellow lab and I said no that's not allowed. Your not a social butterfly you silly girl. So i said "sit" and she sat nicely but her eyes were on the baby guide dog in training.

she loves her new collar but we need to transfer all the tags from the correction collar onto her new one.

I've been wiped out the last few days am resting today while Robert goes to visit his mom.
