Hello my Spark Friends...

I haven't been feeling remarkably well. I ahve not been exercising much but I am doing my best to eat right. About a month ago my Neurologist diagnosed me with Neuropathy. It coul be the cause of my night leg and foot cramping with keeps me awake nights. So he put me on a medication called Gabapentin. I got sick. I was supposed to work up to 3 a day but kept t one a day at night. It did work well on the Neuropathy and no leg cramps but it messed with the Myasthenia Gravis, Mind you. Making me so very week i spent week on the couch and in my recliner. I went off that pill. then he called in a prescription for one called Lyrica. I was literally a Zombie. I've never had a problem with medicaion before but tis was the pits. I am feeling a little better today but when the pill makes you feel worst than you did in the first place it's not for you. I'll jsut do without.

I am Pretty much jsut walking my dog three times a day and going to the amrket using my support cane and my guide dog and that's about it.

On my good days I was doing some cannin. I made Strawberry preserves, canned peaches and nectarines to begin with and it took me 2 days to recover. :-)

Here's to hoping you all have a blessed week.

I'm so sorry you are struggling like this. I think you made a good decision to not take the meds when they make you feel so badly. You're doing good walking your blonde girl! just look at all of the canning you've done! I'd be exhausted after that!

I feel for you! My mother has late onset Parkinson's with the primary symptom being neuropathy in her lower legs. She also was put on all those medications and rejected them one by one for the way they made her feel. She feels best when she is in her recliner with her legs at 45 degrees, but she also forces herself to do some activity and exercise every day. It is a difficult condition.

Scale your goals back while you are struggling with this new medication and condition. Give yourself a pat on the back for what you are doing right. You are going out with your dog, you are eating right and for now that should be enough. emoticon

What's happening?

2 weeks ago I had my surgery to implant a central line chest port to better access IV"s for Myasthenia Gravis treatments called IVIG. That surgery went extremely well. However during the surgery they used something to clean my skin that caused burns around the incisions. leaving me with huge blueberry sized blisters that were quite painful when they popped. it was those blisters that were the most painful of this prcedure. Being on my left side of the chest and I sleep on my left side, I've had hard time adjusting on my right side so not much sleep. I feel amost completely haled now and last night was the first night i was able to sleep on my left side and slept like a baby.

Wednesday at a Neurologist appointment we were discussing my severe leg cramps I have during the night. Mostly during the night but they ahve happened during the day, too. He diagnosed me with Neuropathy because i am numb below the knees except for the heels. So I am on another drug called Gabbapentin. Starting out slow just at night. But i can tell you after jsut a few nights on this medication I actually feel like I have legs and feet again.

Monday I have a 2 week follow up with my Vascular surgeon who did the surgery to see how it's all going. He may be acessing the port then jsut to see if it's working..

I've lost 3 pounds through it all.

Blessings to you all.

I apologize that I haven't been on much in the last 2 days. I've been resting today. Just woke from a Loooong nap.

Surgery went well Thursday morning to place a Centrl line Porta Cath (Power Port) under my left collarbone. thre is 2 incisioins. I actually felt well enouh to make Strawberry Jam yesterday.

Most of what I am feeling (discomforrt) is from bruising in upper bacck, arm pit, front of arm and shoulder. I've had one vicodin and that's it. It helped take pain away.

What frightens me is the fact i'm having this new port accessed on Wednesday next week for the next 3 days. feel I need more time for healing.

The reason for the chst port is because they were having a hrd time finding veins for my IV treatments in the hospital for the MG.

Thank you so much for your payers.

Greetings from Oregon.

I know it's been a while since I've written a blog and thought i'd let you know what's been going on with me.

I have IVIG treeatments in the hospital which helps the symptoms I have from Myasthenia Grais. 2 weeks ago when i had the treatment 3 days in a row They can't find my veins. I got poked 4 times and that fourth try she got a good vein. I have to wear the IV home.

I'm in the process of having or trying to get a Power Port implanted in my chest. this will involve an incision in chest and one in neck. I met the Vascular/Thoractic surgeon yesterday and because of past problems with Anesthesia he doesn't want me out for the surgery. this scares me. Tomorrow morning i go to the hospital for blood work and EKG and Friday I see the Anesthe ologist at 1. We'll discuss if this is for me or wht? If all goes well it looks like my surgery willb e the next week.

A month ago while at the Dog park with Leone which is indoors I was playing with all the dogs and see a dodgeball like ball and went to kick i for the dogs to chase and it turns out it was brightly painted red cement ball jsut for decoration. OWWWWWWW! 3 of my toes were numb and one will not bend. I was scheduled for seeing the podiatrist next Wednesday but this morning as i was slipping on my jeans m bi toenail came all the way off. Whewwwww!!!!!

On top of all this I ahve progressed to insulin dependent Diabetes and finally got my numbers down to 124 and this was a big thrill for me. I can't exercise s much as I'd like to.

Yikes, your toenail came off. That must have hurt. I wish you all the best if you go through the surgery. I may also go through surgery. I wil know July 10th. I have a second umbilical hernia and it is hurting. My first hernia was discovered 18 yrs ago and ready to rupture. Because of my weight loss this time, I discovered it early. emoticon

Goodness, that really is a lot to deal with in one sitting. Know that we are thinking of you and hope your surgery (if you have it) goes well and that you heal up in no time and find yourself back out on walks with Leone again.

I couldn't get the link to work, but I'm sorry to know u r dealing with this.
This is a quote I found doing research on Iyengar Yoga for a woman I know who has M.S.

You may be old, sick or very old and decrepit have a kind of emaciated body but if you practice, the perfection of yoga is certainly possible. Hatha Yoga Pradipika

Rodney Yee has many fine Yoga videos as he is a Senior Instructor of BKS Iyengar.

My dad once had myasthenia gravis and was treated with prednisone which helped him a lot. His symptoms faded away. Then we made a trip to Minnesota to visit his sisters and when she answered the door, her head was tilted to one side and she said she had myasthenia gravis too. And she mentioned another sister who had it as well. So it may run in families. How are you doing with this disease? I hope the doctors are able to help you. Joy
