6/3/2014 - Day in Review and Beginning Blog

Wednesday, June 04, 2014

I have been away from here for awhile. I gained the weight back with my medications again (so frustrating). Anyway, I am working with a nutritionist to get past this even with fighting the medications.

I started seeing the nutritionist on April 23, 2014. I weighed in at 406 pounds (YIKES). Anyway, I am going to look at it as a starting point instead of something negative. Anyway, in the past 6 weeks I have lost a total of 9 pounds so I am feeling good about that. She said that at the rate I lost the weight from the surgery, they had to make too many and too drastic of changes in my medications. That is why I had such a problem with the weight gain. She said that if I only lose 1-2 pounds a week I shouldn't have as much trouble but she will help me through when they have to adjust my meds (I normally gain 25-30 pounds with each medicine adjustment).

Can you believe Michael (my nephew) was only about 3 or 4 when he took this picture? What talent. He has an eye to see things that many don't and take a picture and it is beautiful!

Today went good. Irritable but good. I heard back from my doctor and now he wants me to try Zoloft. I have been on that before and apparently didn't get the results they were looking for but willing to give it another try. I have been on so many I can't even remember them all. I was on DSHS medical for about 10 years so no doctor really wanted me (they don't get paid as much as they would like) and so I kept getting passed around and they would each try their own combination of everything. Fun times... Even ended up with hallucinations a couple times because of drug interactions because of overlapses.

Anyway, I trust the doctor I'm with, I just sometimes feel like we are going backwards with trying some of the same ones I was on before.

Ok, now on with other things.

I have been losing weight so that is good. I am looking forward to Sunday to seeing how my inches are doing. That is what I really care about!

Well, didn't get a chance to write in here before bed because of having the boys but I had to go potty so I wanted to write something before I forget to.

First grats on the weight loss! I'm sure you'll have great results with the inches.

As for the medications, remember you and your doctor (I'm glad you have one you trust) are a team, don't be afraid to ask questions, lots of questions and voice any concerns you have. Even now, if you think of something you wish you'd asked, write it down for the next visit. I hope it all gets resolved and working well for you soon though. Keep that beautiful smile going and all your hard work to a healthier you!

My son is on Zoloft, and others, right now. I know how hard it can be to find the right meds. And of course, when he has a growth spurt or hormonal changes, then we sometimes have to start all over again. But we're not giving up and I am proud of you for not giving up either! Congrats on the weight loss!

emoticon on the weight loss...hope the inches are coming off, too.

Sorry for the struggles of trying to find the right meds. I think sometimes, too, something works for a while and then your body gets used to it. That happened with my DH with his first few one point, he upped the dose to where he should have been in the hospital under supervision! It took a long while, but now he has found what works and seems to be stable on it. Same dosages for long time now. Bear in mind, too, that your stress levels can affect how your meds work for you. It might help to journal about your stressors to keep track of how they may be affecting your mood/health/wellbeing.

Glad to see you blogging here. Keep up the good work!

Hang in there and don't be afraid to share your concerns with the doctor regarding possibly going backwards. He maybe able to explain his game plan better if you ask.

Good luck and keep on pushing!

8/21/12 - Day in Review

Wednesday, August 22, 2012

Today we went up and picked up Trina and the boys. We went to Old Country Buffet and had lunch/dinner together. I made good choices while I was there. I also got 2 hours of heavy house cleaning done before we left. Thought I was going to die! At least with them coming we finally got through a lot of the things we needed to get through. We dropped off a load to Value Village and a load to Good Will. That doesn't even include going through the closet that the boys have outgrown.

I moved the exercise bike (not at ALL light LOL) into my moms room so it isn't in the middle of the room but we can still use it when we want to.

Lots of heavy boxes and lifting. Not to mention, we still have a ways to go later. We decided to hold off on my closet (walk in) and we haven't even started on the shed (most of the going to the dump) due to a leaky roof before. We still have things of my brothers, my grandmothers (she died in the late 90's,,, moved into her mobile), and my things,,, not to mention we have a hard time parting with things.... Family problem LOL

Well, I am having to help Michael find his bat (finger puppet) so I'll write more tomorrow!

Today has been kind of a haze to me. I have been getting the house ready for my nephews tomorrow. I'm trying not to think too much about the next few days. Tomorrow I need to go and pick up the boys and their mom (they are going to be here tomorrow through Saturday). She has a hair appointment around noon (they live an hour away from us), then we come back. Tomorrow there is a coffee time for the park I live at in the morning, which afterwards I will have more time for spending with the. Then they have a dentist appointement Thursday here in town and then we will be able to spend some time together and really have fun!

I did more housework than actually getting out the and exercising. It was pretty vigorous though.

I've had a pretty good day.

Glad your day went well. Housework IS exercise--it counts too. Enjoy the next few days. And enjoy the anticipation too--going through the day in a haze kept you from enjoying the anticipation of a fun time with those boys. Be aware of the moment--every moment. They are each a gift to us to live and enjoy. Be present in your life. emoticon

Today I was NOT motivated. I know that it is going to happen and I am going to have to push myself. However, I pushed through it and still did 15 minutes on my exercise bike, a 5 minute walk (still no walker!) and 5 minutes of stretching.

I feel great that I got it all done but I have to admit I really wanted to just veg all day.
