Motivating Song

Monday, September 14, 2009

Part of our buddy challenge is to blog today about a song that is motivating to us. One of the songs that I find most motivating to me is " You Raise Me Up" by Josh Groban. To me this is a peaceful song I could listen to over and over.

Nice pick! I find myself crying sometimes to some songs, if they remind me of certain events or people. I never used to! I guess I'm more sentimental as I get older!

I think that is a song that motivates a lot of people. Josh Groban is a very talented vocalist and I don't think anybody else I've heard sing it does it justice. A very good song to choose!

Buddy Challenge

Monday, September 07, 2009

We are doing a buddy challenge on my Losing and Playing team. I am having a great time doing this challenge. It is really keeping me on track this month with eight different areas of my life. I usually am good in two or three areas at a time, but as I am working on one thing something else gets put to the back of my list. This challenge is really making me think of Exercise, nutritional, brain, spiritual, home, financial, and community every day. You are all invited to stop by and join team #1! We would love to have you!

Deb, keep up the good work with the challenge. Keep everything going on the right track--if you let one slip, it's so easy to let it become 2, then 3, ...... (Boy, do I know that one!)

Do you think tracking food is an important part of weight loss?

Thursday, August 20, 2009

My answer to this question in YES!! . I know the days I do not track , I don't think about what I eat. I have made it a habit to track before I eat it that way I know exactly how many calories I am eating. I have even changed my mind more than once when I see it on the food tracker, and went for something with less calories!

Dealing With Setbacks

Sunday, August 16, 2009

My way of dealing with setbacks is to remember that I am still getting healthier every day I am doing Spark People. When I get on the scale and it doesn't go down I remember I feel better than I did last year. I am walking which I wasn't doing last year.

I have found that my body sometimes seems to be in a catch up mode. I can eat the same way for two weeks. One week it might go down 1 lb. and I'm sad. Then I continue eating healthy and the next weigh in , it drops 4 lbs. Go figure!!! You are so right about feeling better though. Measuring our progress has always been tied to the scale number when we should also measure how we feel. I can honestly say, I physically and mentally feel much better. It's going to be a LONG journey but consistency is the key! JILL emoticon emoticon emoticon

I like your attitude. The scale is only a tool and not always a truthful one at that. How you feel is a great way to measure the benfit of a new lifestyle. Lizzie
