Kitten test results back

Monday, January 19, 2009

We got our kitten M&M test results back this morning. She has FIV. what they told us is that this is something that was not tested for at the shelter before we got to bring her home. There is no treatment for this. There is also a small chance our other kitten could get this. Right now they said she is not in any pain and that is my main concern. I can not stand to see an animal in pain. She will start having signs of it as it progresses further and at that time they will have to put her to sleep, so for now we are just enjoying her and making her comfortable.

I found a cat living outside once as a kid and brought her home. Her name was Oreo. She has the same thing, FIV, but by that time she was very sick. I cried for days and days....I am sorry that you have to go through this. I don't understand why such innocent creatures must suffer, but you just live M&M each and every second and she will carry that love with her forever.

I have several loved doggies and cats over the Rainbow Bridge waiting for me one day. I believe God keeps our loved ones for us. He made them and they are good and they are waiting.

I know when the day comes to say goodbye, it will be tough, just know that we are here for you. I'm so sorry about the poor little kitten. She is lucky to have you as her mum. emoticon

I had a little gal that was my pal. Her name was "muffin" and she was my buddy. She had FIV. It confused me at the time because she had been tested at another vet when she was a kitten and they told me she didn't have it. She lived to be 5 1/2 years old when she was very sick, I took her to the vet and they told me it was that...I took her records to the new vet and they told me that the old vet's office (retired) probably had results mixed up on clients. It was one sad day when she died. The technician picked her up out of the cage and she stretched her paw out to me, I held her for a few moments and she died. I still miss my little gal at times, but I think of the joy she bought me too.

I'm so sorry about your kitty. Where you just got them, this must be haven't even gotten a chance to really know here a lot.
At least you had some time with her, and hopefully she'll not get too bad too soon. Also hoping that your other kitten stays healthy.

sick kitten

Friday, January 16, 2009

We took our kitten to the vet this week as she is sick . They said she has a heart murmur and did x-rays on her and drew blood. The Xrays showed that her heart is not enlarged so it was on to getting the results of the blood tests. They came back today basically normal except one thing so now they want to run tests on her for Feline viral Diseases. Feline Leukemia ect. She had these test done before we got her from the shelter but now they are going to do them again. We won't know the results of these until the middle of next week. We have only had her about 3 months but they sure do have a way of making you love them.

I hope the kitty is dong better. We've got three cats and the kids are begging for more. Our oldest is 19 and is a huge cat. I dread the day we have to say goodbye to him.

My poor sister's kitty slipped out the door Thursday night in the sub zero weather and wouldn't come in. My sister was crying uncontrollably because she was afraid that "Matilda" would freeze to death. Matilda finally came in 2:30 a.m. this morning and was showing some signs of not handling the cold too well, but from what I hear, she is parked by a heater and isn't straying too far from it and she's drinking and eating and the vet thinks she's going to be o.k.

I hope your little one is o.k. too Deb!

I am so sorry to hear about your little girl kitten being ill. I truly hope that when you get the results they will be positive. Waiting, for the results is so difficult, you feel that they will never arrive but they will and let's hope your little girl will be well.

Please provide me with an update as I would really like to know the outcome and trust it will be positive!

Best Wishes,

Meg emoticon
