New Community Team Member

Saturday, January 10, 2009

I have been with Spark People for three months now, and I am now a community leader. This is great for me becuase I get great motivation from trying to make other people feel welcome. I know when I started, people stopping by my page and just saying 'hello' or 'welcome' really made a difference to me. I would now like to do the same for other people. Spark People is a wonderful site and has been so useful to me. Deb

Happy Holidays

Monday, December 22, 2008

I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas. 2008 has been a very good year for me health- wise. I joined Spark People in October. While the scale has not shown quite the loss I wish it had, I have started exercising (something I thought I would never do consistently); I now am. I am using the nutritional and exercise trackers. Spark People has been both motivational and healthy. I have been amazed how in contrast to other diets that only focus on quick fixes, Spark People really is a healthy lifestyle change. In closing, I would like to wish each and everyone of you a Healthy and Wonderful 2009. emoticon emoticon

Bad day Just got worse

Tuesday, December 16, 2008

Yesterday was my Grandmas Funeral. That in itself was so Terrible. The Temperature was about -8 with a wind chill of -35 here in Iowa. On top everything else, when we were walking to the car to go to the church I fell on some ice and have Sprained my ankle. Thankfully it wasn't broken but is still pretty painful. This means no exercise for awhile. It just seems like it is one thing after another. Well hopefully my next blog won't be until christmas and that will be a happy one.

Try to keep a positive attitude! It is hard to lose a loved one any time, but during the holidays is tough. I can see from the photo of your grandma that she is a good person.

Deb, I'm so sorry for the loss of your dear grandma. So much warmth and personality came through in that picture of her you posted! I originally wanted to thank you for welcoming me to the House Addicts Unite team, but when I read this sad news, I thought it was only appropriate to leave a comment on your blog. I wish you smooth healing of that ankle, which must've only compounded your pain that sad day. - Sara

I am sorry about your loss. I am also sorry about your ankle. I fell last week and was really depressed about not getting my exercise in. It seemed like instead of hitting a wall, the wall hit me. I slipped on the bottome icy step and went backwards so i had a swollen and bruised back and arms. It did make me feel better that I could do something with me legs. I did seated leg extensions. Maybe you could get some weights and work your arms. Hope you feel better soon!

Hate to hear about your ankle...bummer. Take some time to heal even though it terrible to slow down when you have some momentum. But you can still work your arms and your ab muscles, so all is not lost.

Praying a storm of blessings come your way.

Talk to her, she's still with you. I know it will be difficult, but think of your goals and all of the things you have yet to do. Live a good, strong and long life and make lots of memories - that way you'll have many good things to tell her about when you see her again.

Hugs and more hugs,

Anna

Deb, so sorry to hear of your loss. After reading that she was in poor condition, it really brought back memories of Colleen and the convalescing she was going through, and I can only imagine some of the things you were thinking about. For the longest time I had anger in my soul against the Almighty. I still have some unresolved issues that I need to deal with in my own time and with my new friend Dianne being spiritual, it may be just that he put her in my life to give me some answers.

We don't know what your gram is going through now, only that she is not suffering here anymore. We can take pleasure in the the promise of being in a better place.
