This week on the news, I couldn't just escape the images of Haiti. As I was "playing around" on Spark (I love the teams that have games...in fact, I lead a team that has games!), I realized how fortunate we are just to be in the situation of having to worry about our weight. Yes, it's not healthy to be overweight; and yes, I, like almost everyone else here, am trying to lose weight.
But looking at the people who live in a country that was already poor (the average day's pay was $2), and in the middle of massive tragedy, I realized how fortunate we really are. Not only is food not a problem, it is EVERYWHERE. Grocery stores, restaurants everywhere, in airports, and convenience stores. And we never have to worry about clean water. Even with some of the cleanest water in the world coming out of our taps, many of us filter it even more! (or buy bottled).
This week, while I continue to watch what I eat and try to be healthy, I was also thankful for the fact that getting food on a daily basis is easy and affordable. I was also heartened by the massive outpouring of support. This week, I am reminded to be thankful.

Yay! We're doing the buddy challenge again in my Losing And Playing team!
This is one of my favorite challenges as it is so motivating. Not only do we have team members to help keep us motivated, but the challenge focuses on so many different areas.
This is a great way to start out the New Year! Last year we did this challenge, and it kept me so motivated, along with keeping me accountable to other team members.
You are invited to come join the fun on team 3! We would love to have you!

Good day, everyone! I'm sure I'm just one of thousands on Sparkpeople posting a blog today about their goals for 2010. But first, I'm happy to report that 2009 went pretty well. I didn't lose as much weight as I wanted to, but I AM much healthier. I exercise now! I never thought I'd say that (ha-ha). Plus, I've noticed my food habits have changed dramatically too.
For 2010, I resolve to:
Keep doing my Leslie Samson DVD on a regular basis- probably 4 times a week
Lose 30 pounds, which I'm breaking down into 2.5 pounds per month. It seems like having a deadline is more motivating and I figure this goal should be something I can really do, and also to spoil my cat even more than I did last year!
We had a wonderful Christmas here. My Daughter (Jennifer8998) and I are getting caught up on our CCSS team (plus we each lead another team apiece!) before the New Year. We've gotten so much snow in the last week that I'm afraid our house is going to be buried...well, the cars might be buried at least, ha-ha. We've gotten 16 to 18 inches of snow, plus it's been drifting a little bit. I don't think my Husband is setting New Year's resolutions- I've got one for him...finish the "re-modeling" we're doing...ha-ha. Bet he wouldn't find that very funny!

Well, we're having a white Christmas here. Today was the beginning of a snow storm that is expected to dump 20 inches on us! We're already planning on NOT making the drive down to our family's dinner. Hoping everyone is having a good Christmas and getting a chance to spend some time with your families.
We're having our gift opening on the 27th. With the kids grown up and having to go to multiple Christmases (now that they're married), it's hard to get everyone together on Christmas. Hopefully the weather clears up by then. Looking forward, as always, to see what I've gotten, but looking forward even more to seeing if everyone liked what I got them! Funny how as you get older the giving gets more fun, isn't it?
What are your plans for Christmas, everyone?
Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year

I can't believe it but it's been almost a year since my daughter and I started a Sparkteam: Creative Challenges & Saintly Souls. We're at 102 members (as of this posting) and have made some great friends!
The bible readings and lessons have been interesting, but I think hearing other people's opinions in the Bible discussion thread has been even more interesting.
The challenges have kept me motivated. Some of the challenges were team efforts (like the one we're doing now) and it is great to see how much we can accomplish together!
We also chat daily, pray for each other, motivate each other, and play games to get the occasional laugh and moment of relaxation.
Happy Anniversary, team...it wouldn't be such a good team without all of you!
Jennifer (my daughter) and I will certainly be around for a long time.
