Getting Closer...!

This has been such an excruciatingly LONG day!

First thing this a.m. I weighed in and found out I lost FOUR POUNDS this week! Woo HOO! Can't wait to tell my SparkFamily! Wait and wait and wait...here I am almost MIDNIGHT sharing the excitement! Sheesh it's frustrating not to be able to shout out to you all for such a long time!

This week I got nervous when a visit to Old Country Buffet over the weekend put my calories up to around 3200...so I buckled down to 1200-1500 since and voila! 205 is an awfully SWEET number! :-) I think the cycling of calories UP and DOWN has been helping me out.

Although I may not be able to pop in on my Friend Feed as I would like throughout the day, I sure carry your support with me throughout my day! So in the spirit of Thanksgiving I wanted to share these thoughts from Marlene of MotivateUs.com:

Jingo All The Way! (Gratitude)

Had a great session on my 'mill this morning...kept the incline @ 12 throughout and kicked the speed from 4 to 5 mph halfway...wrapping up with Santana's Woodstock version of "Jingo!" Couldn't resist the pun for my blog title...okay, groan away...! :-)

) celebrated her birthday today by going to RealAge.com and calculating that through her efforts in reclaiming her health she has given herself the gift of growing EIGHT YEARS YOUNGER! Woo hoo! Be sure to stop by her SparkPage and wish her a happy birthday! And if you don't know her, stop and browse about her accomplishments...one AMAZING person!

This all has me thinking again, in this season of Thanksgiving, how all of us here at SparkPeople are giving ourselves and through our support of others, each other such tremendous GIFTS of LIFE and living a SPARKED LIFE! I just wanted to share my gratitude to all of you out there, Chris Downie, all the SparkStaff and fellow members: my SparkFamily...!

I know of Django Reinhardt, the game Jenga, the term "jingoism," and recall that Jango was Boba Fett's father in the Star Wars canon, but have never before heard of the song Jingo.

I'm clearly a musical Philistine. hehe

Good 'Millwork This A.M.

After having overslept the day before and totally missing my cardio on Thurs. I got a decent night's sleep last night, woke up in time for my 35 min. treadmill session and from the first step I knew that I was going to have a great session.

Instead of mixing up the walking and jogging I went straight to a 5 mph jog which I maintained throughout the 35 mins. with a big help from Chick Corea and Return to Forever's opus: Sometime Ago / La Fiesta...slow, noodling beginning but what a head of STEAM it builds over the twenty-some minute jam on top of Spanish / Flamenco chord changes with some wild sax shrieking at the crescendos along with Stanley Clarke's thundering, galloping string bass, Flora Purim's airy vocals and Chick's light & sprite Fender Rhodes:

Looking forward to making the rounds with my clients tomorrow passing out turkeys and boxes of Thanksgiving food...it always feels like one of the significant kickoffs of the holiday season for me. There is SO much for which to be thankful...not the least of which is being part of our wonderful SparkFamily!

    Way to go Don! I still jog at 5 mph on the treadmill. I think my pace is a little faster outside. I keep thinking I could invest some gadgets to keep track but I just like to put on some good music and run for the sheer joy and wonder if I wouldn't be making it a chore if I get too hung up on how fast and how far I go. I am thankful for the Spark community too and all the great motivating and inspiring friends I've made. Thanks to you for being one of them!!

Spark Wings Clipped a Tad...

Recent changes by our IT staff at work has resulted in a slew of websites being blocked from our PCs...one of them being SparkPeople.com...! Argh!

At home I'm going nutso with renovations spinning off from having laminate flooring installed and attempting to pull this all together before Christmas.

Coming home to SO much Spark excitement which I've missed has been such a disappointment because there's no way that I can keep up as I have in the past.

If you don't see me around on your blogs, message boards, etc as I have been in the past don't take it personally because I'm VERY MUCH going to miss not catching up with my SparkFamily as I have in the past.

I'll try my best to keep you all posted on important stuff...so let's all keep SPARKING away as EVER!

    I found it hard not to be able to log my foods as usual while traveling last weekend. I'm going to investigate whether my cell phone's web browser can do spark mobile.

Space Shuttle Launch No Longer: More Cowbell!

Today while on the treadmill this morning I remembered my earlier days on my 'mill experimenting with the incline. When I kicked it up to "10" I felt like I was an astronaut reclining in my seat getting ready for Lift Off! The angle seemed so IMPOSSIBLE to maintain.

Now "10" is my BASELINE treadmill setting! I never go below "10" anymore...! So the other day I read Deb's (S318830) blog and she spoke of using a "15" incline setting...WHOA! I realized it had been a while since I kicked up my incline and went to do just that yesterday and discovered my 'mill MAXES OUT at "12"...! Sheesh! Who'da thunk I would have EVER accomplished THAT?!?! Not that I think I'll ever trade it in for a model that WOULD go that high...but it sure feels mighty fine to make such accomplishments!

So if you've been kinda stagnant with your workouts and haven't racheted things up for yourself lately do yourself a favor and keep kicking it up...!

More Cowbell People! You'll be AMAZED at your accomplishments over time!

    I started back on my walking on an incline phase recently. My running days are on standstill until I the trainer stops making my legs feel like jello on my "treadmill" days. Or maybe I should just switch my days up. Anyoo. Lately I have been walking the inclines between 10-15 for an hour. I actually sometimes leave a pool of sweat on the floor when I do. I actually think that walking the incline might be more of a workout now that I am thinking about it. Thanks.

    LOL! I love the More Cowbell analogy! But so true. If you don't challenge yourself when you get into a routine, you won't improve.

Sorry to hear your treadmill only goes to 12. I never thought I'd get treadmill envy, but Jillian Michaels teamed up with some exercise equipment company or other and developed a treadmill that goes to something like a 45 degree angle! I don't think I'd ever do that as a regular workout, but I'd love to hop on it and see what that feels like!

    I think I'd feel like I'm falling off the thing at that angle LOL! But more power to you and your "15" friend! I'll check out the incline on the gym treadmills next time I'm there.

I, too, am a Sparker for good although I can foresee there will continue to be phases where I'm less active in posting.
