Not So Grand Weekend...

Sunday, February 15, 2009

Yes, I'm keeping my cardio streak going...cardio every day since Jan. 6th, however I'm feeling slug-like this weekend...haven't rallied to pull a *GRAND* (1,000 calorie) workout on my 'mill like I have in the past.

I AM continuing to go hands-free during each session, sometimes for as long as 45 mins.

Just not into challenging myself this weekend...don't have it in me.

So it's kinda status quo, ho-hum.

Saw "The International" yesterday...but didn't care for it...usually UP for an ANTI-CORPORATION kinda flix, but this just didn't have the suspense nor the logic needed to hold the plot together. I found myself yawning and bored at times. NOT recommended!

Well, at least it's a long weekend and I have another day tomorrow to see if I can feel more inspired.

Musical Pick Me Up

Friday, February 13, 2009

Had the HARDEST time crawling up to my 'mill tonight, until...

I put on my tunes!

They just picked me right up!

Some of the tunes which vanquished my weariness tonight (most of these songs are only 99 cents a download!):

Sergio Mendes' album Brasiliero, song Magano...a REAL taste of Brasil...totally infectious...entire album HIGHLY recommended!

U2's Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses, from Achtung Baby...this song just feels like I'm running crazy and free down some remote exotic seashore, just high on life!:

Earth, Wind and Fire's Sun Goddess from their totally get up and MOVE live album Gratitude...stupendous mix of jazz, funk and pop to get your feet going! Do yourself a favor and nail the WHOLE ALBUM! You won't be sorry!

Spin Doctors' Two Princes from Pocket Full of Kryptonite (Little Miss Can't Be Wrong is pretty good too!):

Santana's Soul Sacrifice...ANY version will do...preferably LIVE...hot, spicey, latin FIRE!

Hey everyone, that's all for now...get some sound sleep, rest up for our Valentine's tomorrow! :-)

Good music. I'm listening to BUDDY HOLLY sing "That will be the day." It was 50 years ago on the 10th, when he was killed. I remember the day very well, because my older brother cried.

emoticon Happy Valentines Day. emoticon Enjoy these as they are calorie free, and give this emoticon to the one you love. emoticon

Grand Weekend!

Sunday, February 08, 2009

Although it's been warmer this weekend, the weather has been very overcast, drab and dreary. So I've opted to stay on my 'mill and enjoy my tunes from the four corners of my room rather than on my headphones.

Pulled a grand (1,000 calorie workout) both yesterday and today...woo hoo!

Also went for the first 45 minutes of today's session totally hands-free!

Hope everyone had a rewarding weekend!

Check Up / Spreading the SPARK!

Saturday, February 07, 2009

I had a good routine check up with my primary care doc yesterday, he's been so pleased with my overall progress and great at giving out the pats-on-the-back!

I finally thought to bring in a bunch of SparkPeople fliers from the Spread the Spark link ( www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/tell_a_f
) so he could give them to other patients who might be interested. He was tickled with that and promised to make good use of the fliers!

Warmer today, high forties, had hoped to get out for a nice walk, but by the time we got out it was overcast and dreary again...so I passed, would rather get home and use my treadmill and crank up the tunes from all four corners of the room...lol!

I am so glad for your progress, that your are getting healthier day by day.

As we say in Spain " Salud, amor y dinero", the order of priority " health, love and money".

In USA you have additional difficulty because of cold weather, I live in Valencia which is has mild climate, and makes it easier to eat less.

When I go to mountains were it snows I tend to eat more... emoticon

Completing 30 Day Cardio Streak...woo hoo!

Friday, February 06, 2009

Well my cardio streak has crossed the 30 day mark...! Started Jan. 6th vowing not to miss any cardio every day. Although there was one day where I was completely wiped out for unknown reasons, I made up for it the next day by hopping on the treadmill both in the morning and again at night.

Unfortunately I'm not seeing weight loss as a result, the plateau continues...but I think I can notice some improved muscle toning here and there. Haven't missed any of my 3 x week strength-training either!

So let's just see how long I can keep this streak going...!!

Keep on SPARKING along everyone!
