The Power of One / The Power of ALL!

Wednesday, February 04, 2009

One of the BEST things about this wonderful community we're always building here at SparkPeople is the sense of belonging and support one picks up along the way.

It's as if there is a continual crowd about me eager to applaud my successes or offer support when it's needed. I take you all with me when I get on my treadmill / bicycle or pump my dumb bells / resistance bands. Many times I will SQUASH thoughts of skipping my workouts by feeling as though I am letting you all down...so I PUSH myself to live up to our wonderfully healthy and nurturing community expectations...YES!

Just wanted to put a big bear hug THANK YOU out there for all of you!

The Sparks is the BEST!

Don, in just my short time as part of the Binghamton team, I have seen how INCREDIBLY supportive and motivating you are. So if the collaborative effort of others is able to give back even a fraction of that, then emoticon this spark thing is doing its thing!!!!!

Keep up all your tremendous success!!!! :) Teenya

    Hi Don,

Thanks for being there. It is quite an effort to lead a team, great idea, but a lot of work . I am glad that you are receiving a bit of what you are giving.

From your SP page , I see you are doing a low cab program any one in particular? I am doing atkins with 20-30 carbs, and since I started a lot of my craving and food disorder are vanishing.

I have yo yoed so much , when I started SP I even put on 20 lbs on that I have almost lost in very short period.

My stand back is doing work out, I am starting with the SP seven day plan. Tracking food has helped a lot so maybe if I start tracking my work outs also helps .

Oh, such motivation, I feel that way sometimes too, but not often enough! But I keep on working towards that goal anyway.

Doesn't it sometimes seem like the more often you check in with your friends at SP, the easier it is to stick with your workouts & eating plans?

Keeping the SPARK!

Tuesday, February 03, 2009

Although I didn't start my cardio streak right on Jan. 1st, it was the 6th...but since then I have not missed a day of cardio workout every day...7x a week! I'm truly hoping to reclaim the committment I enjoyed earlier on in my efforts where I would have cardio streaks a month, two or ever three in a row!

Everybody caught Springsteen in action during the halftime @ the SuperBowl? He's got 7 years on me! I want to be able to carry on like he did when I'm 59! Woo hoo! :-)

Back For More...

Sunday, February 01, 2009

Made it back for more cross country skiing today...but have to admit it was discouraging...never really got my "glide" going...so warm and slippery, just too paranoid about falling to enjoy myself.

We'll see if I can get back and have more fun the next time!

Don, you get credit for trying.

I'm fine, but dealing with my 24 yos, Nathan, who had to have surgery Friday for testicular cancer. He had a tumor the size of a baseball, but the doctor said he'd seen them 3 times that size. Now we wait to friday for the pathology report and he has to have a CT Scan to see if it has spread and if he needs ChemoTherapy. He is feeling better today, but this is a "wait and see." emoticon

what's the worst that can happen if you bust your rear end falling in the snow?! Nah, I can relate to that frustration. It's annoying when you can't get a groove going-try try again!

Crawled My Way To A GRAND!

Saturday, January 31, 2009

Another late treadmill session tonight...managed to crawl my way to 1,000 calories! Not really energized, tho, just ground 'er out and got 'er done!

I was in a hurry when I made my original post. For the REST of the story...

It was another late 'mill session...didn't want to do it, no WAY...dragged my behind upstairs and got started. One thing led to another and I'm thinking, hey, this is the last day of the month...my competitive spirit kicked in and I took it a step further...haven't done a GRAND in a while...hmmm wonder if...

Yep, knocked off another grand (1,000 calories / 85 mins.)last night...even tho I didn't even want to get on the 'mill in the first place...! The power of positive momentum...YES!! :-)

Moved A Ton...

Thursday, January 29, 2009

...of wood pellets for the stove today...50 - 40# bags...loaded 'em into the van, stacked 'em up on the porch! Was whupped afterwards, but still managed to push myself on the treadmill for 40 mins. and enjoyed myself...the music pumping from all four corners of the room just INFUSES and invigorates me!

I was reminded during my treadmill session (mostly HAND'S FREE...woo hoo!) of a recent reality TV show I saw featuring this fellow who literally flew...jumped off a cliff and had these baggy canvas clothes which made him look like a human flying squirrel. He had a camera filming his flight on his helmet so you could really get a sense of what it was like...what a RUSH!

Until he hit the cliff...lol...whole lotta bleepin' going on! But that feeling of flying reminded me of recurring dreams I had as a kid of flying. Wishful thinking, I suppose, somehow to shed my pounds and fly...which I HAVE!

During my treadmill session some songs inspired me to hold my arms out as if I was pulling power from the music to lift me into flight...! (hey, maybe these batwings might come in handy after all! :-) )

Good times... :-)
