change in workout routine

Tuesday, May 10, 2011

Echelle suggested increasing weights and reducing sets from 4 to 2...so I did...increased weights by 5 pounds and decreased to 2 sets...feel exhausted today! Can't wait to see/feel results!

well done! A change in your routine is always good, your body will get used to it and will not have effective results unless you mix it up a bit!

Should NOT have run!

Monday, May 09, 2011

So I blogged that I ran a couple of times on the treadmill, with minimal pain. Well, I got all cocky and decided to run a 5K...on pavement. Not my brightest idea. This was Saturday morning I ran. I'm still paying for it. I will not be running, on pavement, treadmill, or otherwise, until after I see the ortho. I've got a call in for an appointment. Looks like I'm moving forward with the Synvisc injection. That's supposed to last about a year. Fingers crossed....

I'm running!!!!

Wednesday, May 04, 2011

Not fast. Not far. But on Monday, I ran a mile, nonstop, on the elliptical in 13:20. My knee has been bothering me a bit and nothing seemed to make it better...here I was NOT doing all the things I want to do to keep it from hurting and it was still bothering me. So I decided to try a gentle mile and see what happened. Nothing. Knee still bothers me. But not more than before I ran. I didn't run yesterday. Did the elliptical, machines, stretches, planks and such. Still not any worse than it's been. So today I did 2 miles, nonstop, in 24 minutes. Not setting any track records. But we'll see...slow and easy. See how tonight and tomorrow goes. I mean, I haven't run in almost 26 years!!!

Thanks. Last night was a bit rough (knee pain), but honestly, it's been tough even before the running. I'm not willing to admit the running is making it worse...not yet, anyway. I'm going to give it a little more time first.

I'm really loving the running and hoping I can keep it up! Thanks for the support!!!!

That's wonderful--far and fast are all relative to what you need to do for yourself! One step at a time leads to another, and you're off running farther and faster thank yourself before you know it!

emoticon 2 miles! Good for you. I'm sorry that your knee is a worry but it sounds like you've got some great motivation going for you! Keep up the great work!!
I'm just beginning to do a little jogging on the treadmill and it'll be a good long time before I work up to even the mile. Enjoy your progress!

Happy Friday!

Friday, April 29, 2011

No real news here...still plugging along with some knee discomfort. Think I'll switch it up and swim for a while, for exercise, to give the knee a break from the jarring...although far less on the elliptical, there still is some.

Hoping all have a fabulous weekend!

Good luck, the swimming sounds like a good idea. I wish the weather here would warm up enough for swimming!

Must not freak out...

Thursday, April 21, 2011

...tell tale signs...blemishes, puffy fingers, craving junk, "snappish", scale crawling upward despite working out like crazy and eating right...it's coming! After nearly 3 weeks of being sick and finally feeling better and getting back to the gym every day...Rationally, I know I'm good. Pants all fit still. Yet I find myself, increasingly lately, having internal battles about when I have that PMS upward swing on the scale. I fully recognize it's hormonal crap that makes me feel this way...but it's still a struggle. I know I'm not alone. I know others suffer worse. (I used to be MUCH worse...think regular exercise has helped some.) But dang it, it's so defeating to work your butt off only to see the scale go in the wrong direction once (and sometimes twice) a month! Perhaps I'll whiz through perimenopause and whisk through menopause without much trouble, huh? Fingers crossed!

Definitely staying off the scale for about 4 days, I think! For my own sanity (and for my husband's sake, too! He really pays when I'm struggling with it!) I will get through it, like every other time. Just hate when I'm in the thick of it. Thanks for the support, ladies!

I'm with you! The fluctutations are so furstrating, but persistence is key. Look at how very far you've come, and keep perspective. This is just a temporary stop--progress will show again both on and off the scale!!!
