So I kept getting a little better, getting sick again, thinking I was getting better, feeling lousy again...I finally went to the doctor tonight. I have a sinus infection and am now on antibiotics. After 10 days of feeling varying degrees of icky, I am hopeful that I'll be back on my feet again in a few days!

Although it's not the right way to do it, I have lost a couple pounds while being sick! (Gotta look for the silver lining in any situation, right?)

It's just awful, isn't it?! I've been under the weather for nearly 2 weeks now! But I do believe I'm getting better. Not as quickly as I'd like, but I'm on the other side of it now.

I hope you're better now!

Finally on the upswing...

Sunday, December 07, 2008

Well, I missed the staff Christmas party and a dance performance I had wanted to see, and missed my "new week/new month" fresh start with this wretched bronchitis, but I'm finally on the mend.

I'm certainly not back to 100% health, but I'll be going back to work tomorrow and hope to be up to brisk walking by Tuesday. (Tomorrow I work until 5:30, and then I go to a meeting that gets out at 9 PM...I'm thinking that just going back to work from bronchitis and the long meeting will take enough out of me. Don't want to push it too much.)

Darryl got a beautiful tree today. And he put the new LED lights on the house. We'll finish putting up Christmas a little each evening, hopefully being done by next weekend.

Anyway, I'm off the couch and feeling antsy...ready to get back into the real world! Exercise. Lose some weight. Feel good again!

New week, new month, new beginning...

Monday, December 01, 2008

So after nearly a week off from work and too many delicious meals, I'm glad for the new month to begin on Monday...I'm strange like that.

But anyway, I'm excited to start my new regime at the beginning of the week and new month...a great way to finish up the year!

Unfortunately, late yesterday afternoon I started getting a sore throat...and today it's only worse. I'm currently sipping tea with honey and lemon and pretending it doesn't hurt. I must leave for work in 5 minutes, so I'm hoping the tea does the trick! (They would NOT look kindly on calling in sick the first day back from vacation!)

But I will do some exercise today...even if it's just walking on my lunch hour or taking the dogs for walk after work. Not walking won't make my throat feel any better!

Have a glorious new week and new month!

Sadly, no I'm not feeling better yet...my head cold/sore throat moved to my chest, where it turned into bronchitis! I'm now on medication and hope to feel better soon. I have been coughing now for so long that I have no voice at all. I haven't been sleeping well and I've not worked out once since my new beginning. I'm hoping by Monday I'll feel well enough to do brisk walks again.

Tonight I'm missing the staff Christmas party. emoticon

But I'll stop complaining and be thankful that it wasn't pneumonia. I'm sure I'll be well enough to start exercising very soon. And I'm sure I'll sleep better tonight.

Thanks for the note!

Feeling old...

Thursday, November 20, 2008

So I went to see Bob Dylan last night, with my kids. They were raised on his old stuff.

Since I went with just them, I stood where they wanted to stand...not on the seats, like all the other 40-something (and older...much older) people sat. Down in the pit with the other college kids.

It was super crowed, hot, loud and rather claustrophobic there! But I was a trooper...I stuck it out for the whole concert, rather than admit I am a wimp, an old wimp. Kids were literally collapsing all around us, and being carried away by police. Perhaps not just from the heat. Either way, it was a bit frightening.

I think I would have enjoyed the concert more if I'd sat with the other 40 and older crowd. I hate to admit it. It makes me feel so old! I don't normally feel old. But I did last night, amongst all those young, pierced, tattooed, energized college students. I felt old for the first time. I didn't like it one bit! Even though I was certainly not even close to the oldest person there, and quite probably wasn't even the minority age group there, I was smack dab in the middle of a group of people that could have been my children and I felt out of place. I'm not accustomed to that.

But, I guess I need to get used to it, since I'm not going to get any younger! Ugh!

And the cold weather certainly doesn't help my feelings of longevity! It's like January weather here! Low 20's and snow flurries. Yuck! It's not fun to start up an exercise regime in this weather!! But it must be done and I'll survive it...even in my advanced years! ;D

Okay...enough bitching and moaning...time to huff it down the street to work. More when this feeble ol' mind can remember to write again!

Wow, you're a good mom! I hope you were able to experience the music at least a little, and allow yourself to enjoy the concert, despite your placement in the crowd. Stay warm!!

i am also starting to feel that way at concerts these days. we love to go to shows but the crowd keeps getting younger and younger up there in the front with us. or i SUPPOSE that could PERHAPS be that i am getting older. ;-) i'm still holding out hope though that everyone else is just younger!

So I'm feeling more like my old self after the ever so loving and gentle kick in the pants from my spark family...Although I won't be able to work out tonight (going to see Bob Dylan right after work), I am planning to eat much better and nothing after dinner!!!!

And tomorrow will start the exercise regime again!

Thanks again, girls! I appreciate it!
