Good Monday Morning!

Monday, September 08, 2008

Well, we had a busy and fruitful weekend! We finished painting (almost...still need to do a couple baseboards) the dining room. I really like the color. It's quite bold, but I'm all about bold color choices. (We just finished painting the kitchen spiced pumpkin and turquoise!)

Anyway, we were busy all weekend, which kept me from grazing. And I took a very long walk (up hills even) with Daisy, who of course, LOVED it! Between my good eating and much exercise, I'm down some more.

Some of you who follow my blogging regularly, may notice no movement on the weight scale on my site...sadly, that's because I'd gained quite a bit of weight (from February until August) and I'm leaving that ticker right where it is, until I'm there again and can move it to the left again.

But things are moving in the "right", not right direction and I'm happy about that.

I missed my chiropractic appointment last week and my body is letting me know that this morning. Between all the painting movements and general wear and tear, I can really tell I need an alignment. I MUST call them today and schedule one!

I'm off to read the paper on the porch before walking to work. Hope everyone has a fantastic day! ;D

In Peace, Light and Love,
Kim

    Love the bold color!
Keep up those great walks with Daisy and soon you'll have to move your ticker... downward! :-)

One week down...

Sunday, September 07, 2008

Wow, what a wild bunch we have this year! We started back on Tuesday, with kids coming on Wednesday. So it was a short week, but felt like a full one!

I'm still working out my school day routines...trying to figure out what time to get up in order to get everything done around here before I leave. I've got the alarm clock set for 6:00 for tomorrow morning...we'll see if that's early enough.

We're on the third floor again...explains my slightly achy knees...we make MANY trips up and down, all day long. For art, library, music, PE, lunch, recess, and any trips to the counselor's office, the main office, nurse or anything else. But that would explain the three pounds down since school started! ;D

I've got a lot of weeding to do in my flower beds and some harvesting to do in my veggie beds...and mowing and a little raking already! Man, where did summer go?!

Kids are back in college and loving it. Both kids are really loving their classes. Devon is a psych major and he's totally jazzed about some conferences he's going to. One is on Asperger's Syndrome and I think I'm going to go, too, with our special ed counselor. Since we have had at least one student a year in our program with Asperger's.

Well, I must close if I'm to finish my very long "to do" list...

Where did the summer go?!

Friday, August 29, 2008

So it's now August 29th and I return to work on Tuesday. I simply cannot believe how quickly the summer went by!

I'm working with a new teacher. The one I was working with was not asked back. It will be an interesting year, I'm sure. (Two more and I'm leaving to go to school full time...after 10 years in this city's school system and I'm eligible for retirement insurance.)

I got some projects done this summer...with some help from the kids, I got the kitchen painted. I cleaned/organized/removed clutter and the place looks much lighter than it did. I would still like to paint the dining room, which shouldn't take more than a day, since it's mostly windows and large doorways.

The kids started back to college this week. Devon's commuting from home, so I'll still see him. Kate moved on campus a few days ago. But she'll stop in occasionally, I'm sure.

I've been making soups this summer. (Cooler, rainier summer than usual...soups have been the perfect food!)

So...the weight...up some. Not pleased with that at all! I'm joining the YMCA again. I have the check written out and I even bought a swimsuit, so I can use the pool. I have to drop off the check today. And pick up a pool schedule. (I hope it fits into my work schedule!)

I have to admit, once I stopped walking to/from summer school, nearly all my exercise stopped. I guess I felt like I needed to really "vacation"! Except for cleaning and painting (hardly considered exercise), I've done nothing!

But that needs to change. As we all go back to school and develop routines again, exercise NEEDS to be part of that routine. I do NOT want to gain anymore weight! In fact, I'd like to drop about 30-40 more pounds!

I can do it. I know I can. I just need to get serious and get into a routine again!

Have to go shower and run some errands.

In Peace, Light and Love,
Kim

I hope you had a nice vacation from work and exercise... but VACATION OVER! :-) Back to business lady! Drop that check off and get the routine in place. Sept. is a perfect time for new beginnings :-)

Long time no blog...

Wednesday, August 06, 2008

Sorry it's been so long. I've been doing fairly well...busy, busy, busy...too many obligations! But I'm nearly done with several of them so my life should let up for the end of summer. Summer school ends on the 13th and my weekend obligation ended a week ago, so weekends are mine again.

I'm eating well and exercising a little...I ordered a swimsuit. (First one post weight loss!) When it comes in, I'm going to join the YMCA again and begin swimming for exercise. I love swimming and haven't done it in years!

Have to run...am going to Albany to pick up a friend at the airport...always something, huh?! Hope everyone is well!

In Peace, Light and Love,
Kim

Things that keep me busy

Monday, July 14, 2008

It's been a while since I've written...the internet (and phone and cable) have been spotty for a while. They're been out twice and said both times they fixed it but my internet and phone are still spotty. Ugh!

Anyway, I've been quite busy around the house...inside and out. I included a photo of the new dog yard we made. It's 12 x 24 feet and it's for when I'm inside and the dogs want to be outside, so they (ie: Daisy) don't tear up the gardens, especially the water garden plants!

It was a lot harder than the directions made it out to be...Darryl and I struggled, sweat buckets and grumbled quite a bit. But it's done, if not perfectly and the dogs seem to like it. And so far, it's kept them out of the gardens!

I see I'm running late...more next time! Time to catch my ride to summer school!

Hmmm...I just may treat myself to a little bit of hammock time...in fact, I'm going to go do that right now, before it rains!

What a great way to keep your gardens safe from doggy destruction!

I'm drooling over that hammock right now... I think at this moment I would give just about anything to by lazing on it with a good book instead of at work.
