I'm BACK!!!

Phew! School is out for summer (but summer school starts Wednesday...different kids, different location, different staff, half days, so it's really not bad at all) and I got my internet/cable/phone back today! The cable guy said it was something corroded on the pole, so it wasn't anything we did to cause it. The phone seems to be louder than it was before and the internet is definitely faster than it was before...guess it was going for quite some time. So nice to be back up and running again!

So...food and exercise...no more excuses! Darryl and I went to the Farmers' Market this morning and got a lot of wonderful, fresh, organic vegetables and I'm feeling ready! We planted a garden and I've got swiss chard, basil, rosemary and dill all ready for the picking...tomatoes, cukes, eggplant, peppers and cabbage for the fall.

As far as exercise, I'm planning to walk to summer school each morning and home each afternoon, since we only have one car and Darryl will be using it. That's about 2 miles away, so I'll be walking 4 miles a day, five days a week. That's a start. I may ride my bike, if the morning commute ends up taking too long. Plus any errands around town will be on foot or bike. And I've got a friend who also works a school calender and she wants to start walking again. I should be one fit mama by fall, huh?!

I want to get back into blogging regularly and recording my foods again. I'm a bit overwhelmed with all the emails I fell behind in. emoticon But I'm confident I'll catch up and get several summer projects done around here. I'm feeling very good about things.

Have to go...it's begun to rain and I've got windows open! YIKES!

Crazy time and no internet at home...

Next week is my last week at school and things are pretty hectic here...not to mention that I no longer have internet at home. It has been spotty for a while now and the tech guy said someone needs to come out to the house but the time frame you have to be available is huge. (8 AM -noon or 1 - 5) I work during all of those hours, so it has to wait until I get out of school for the summer. I made the appointment yesterday for a week from Friday. Ugh!

So anyway...I've not been working out at all. I mean, walking here and there, but not with any regularity and my food choices haven't been the greatest. Well...the actual food I'm eating is very healthy and low-fat...that's all I keep in the house. But I've been eating outside of the three meals a day plan I have. Sort of grazing. Eating too many calories.

I'll be back online in a little over a week and hopefully back with a vengeance!

Winding down the school year...

So we're down to days now...not months. Okay, weeks, but I prefer to think of it as days. Sounds like less!

I'm being reassigned for next year and I'm very pleased with that. I won't find out until the end of the month just where I'll be, but from the three possibilities, I'll be happy at any of them.

I've got a walking partner set up, once school lets out. (She's not available when I get out of the after school program.) We've walked together before and we're a good match...we challenge each other to go farther and walk faster. So it'll be a good exercise several days a week.

I've started having glucomannan and psyllium husk in hot tea each morning and that seems to have stopped my hypoglycemic troubles. I've even stopped having my mid morning snack since starting this new routine! I bring a protein bar, just in case, but I end up bringing it home each day...or having it as an afternoon snack, if I really feel hungry.

Yesterday I started facilitating not one, but TWO empowerment classes in the Albany area. one for teens and one for women. It will make for very long Sundays for the next seven weeks, but I'm training a woman from that area to facilitate, so once I'm done, she can continue in her area. And she plans to move to South Caroline in about 5 years and when she does, she'll facilitate down there. Yay!

Yikes...running late for work...again! Have to cut it short.

Back from a weekend away...

A short entry before running out the door...Darryl and I went away this past weekend for our 22nd anniversary. We went to Montreal! We had an awesome time! We ate fabulous foods in incredible restaurants and walked and walked and walked!!! I came home one pound lighter than I left! Yay!

I'm actually sore today from all the walking we did! Guess that shows I'm not in the best shape. (Although we did walk from the moment we left the hotel until we got in the car to come home, except to eat our meals!)

Perhaps I'll upload a photo or two from the trip when I get home tonight.

Must run...

Going back down...

So the scale is finally coming back down. I had put nearly 10 pounds on, since February, as a result of a medical procedure. But with extra effort, the weight is nearly gone...I've got about three more pounds to get back down to pre-procedure weight. (Now if the hair loss would stop, I'd be fine!)

Last night I went to a "Fear of Failure" meeting/potluck through the bariatric program I'm in. It was very interesting to see how many of us are going through the same things, whether we're still considered obese or 123 pounds. I hope those meetings continue...like on a monthly basis. I got a lot out of it.

Have to go make some tea and get busy. Happy Monday to everyone!
