I really had a nice weekend. Saturday I went to Binghamton, to have the Saturn serviced. Devon went with me, to go to A C Moore, for some art supplies. We did some shopping and had lunch together. We rarely get mother-son alone time. It was really nice!
Then, Saturday evening, Kate came over to watch a movie (Darjeeling Limited...good movie) while Darryl went to a hockey game in Syracuse, with his brother. It was Daisy's first birthday, so we got her a dog cookie and a new chewy squeaky toy, which she absolutely LOVES!
Sunday we all went to Kate's campus and had brunch with her. (They have a very nice Sunday brunch at her dining hall.) Then I took Devon back to his campus. It was such a nice weekend with my family!
Having them move out makes me appreciate the time I have with them so much more than I did before. And I did appreciate them before. But it's different now.
We're having a surprise 2-hour delay this morning! It rained early on and I guess it suddenly started freezing. Almost all the area schools are on a one or two hour delay. I'm going to close and take advantage of the time.

Well, we're back to school today...we had an early dismissal on Tuesday and a snowday yesterday. We didn't get quite as much snow as they'd predicted (12 in) but we did get enough to make driving hazardous!
I took full advantage of the time off and cleaned and rearranged several rooms. And cooked a very nice dinner last night for Darryl, who did have to work yesterday. :~( (I'm not a great cook, so if I've got more than one burner going at a time, it's really something!) I made sautéed swiss chard, quinoa and "chicken" style seitan. It was very tasty. (I LOVE swiss chard!)
Today is my doctor appointment and I was stressing over the scale...raging PMS and up a few pounds in water weight...but I'm trying to be rational...my clothes all fit the same way. I KNOW it's PMS. I've got the blemishes and tight rings to show for it. (Not to mention the mood...) So I'm going to keep reminding myself of that, all day today. And perhaps they won't even weigh me! Wouldn't it be just like me to panic all day about a weigh-in, only to NOT get weighed?!
We're almost done repainting Devon's old room. It's looking good. I'm excited to finish it. I'm going to get new curtains for in there on Saturday. (Have to remember to put some paint on an index card, so I can get a curtain that matches well.)
Last night was our first book club. I enjoyed it very much. That reminds me...I've got to close and go order next month's book. (The Other Boleyn Girl)

As soon as I got in the front door of work today, everyone was abuzz, talking about an early dismissal due to the storm. So I was home by noon and the snow hasn't stopped yet (6:40 PM)! The forecast says it's going to continue through the night and into tomorrow, so we'll probably have tomorrow off, too. Although I don't get paid for the after school program when I don't work, I'm really hoping we have another snow day. I'll be able to get caught up on some much needed housework and probably finish up the painting in Devon's room.
I'm PMSing majorly...up several pounds, rings are tight, face is breaking out and I'm not sleeping well...and I have a doctor appointment on Thursday, which means getting weighed when I'm "up"! I hate that...it goes into my chart! I know it's ridiculous to get upset about something as silly as that, but I do!
Tomorrow is our first book club gathering, if this storm doesn't cancel it. We read The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, which I'd read before, but loved and didn't mind reading again. I hope it's not canceled...our next book is The Other Boleyn Girl, which I'm really looking forward to...I'd better hurry up and get it!
I think we have a movie rented to watch tonight...I'd better close and do up the dinner dishes, so I can settle in and enjoy the movie.

So after a week off, I'm heading back to work today. :~( It's so sunny and brisk out that I'd rather stay home and play with my new camera! (Darryl got me one a couple of days ago.)
Anyway, I didn't accomplish all I'd planned, due to throwing out my back a week ago yesterday. But I'm all better and didn't miss any work over it. (A good thing, right?!) And I'm well-rested, from taking it easy with my back.
We did manage a trip to Ithaca yesterday, to shop at the Green Star Grocery...and Wegman's...and Target. (Three stores we don't have near us.) I got everything but TVP on my list. (Green Star was out of the bulk and I wasn't about to pay that much for a tiny bag of it.) We had a good time. We ate at a very good Mexican place at the end of the Commons...we laughed a lot!
Devon's started painting his room over. The deal with him being able to paint it black was that when he moved out, he had to paint over the black. Darryl chose a nice, bright teal-like color and a much paler version of it for the trim. It's looking nice. I'm moving the computer in there, when it's all done. This room that it's in now is the coldest room in the house, so it makes emailing very uncomfortable during the winter months...which around here is darn near 6 months of the year!!!
SparkPeople seems to have some sort of glitch...I received two spark gifts, but can't access them (read the notes)...I'm hoping it's resolved today, so I can read and properly thank those who sent me gifts!
Have to close and go to work. :~(

Well, Daisy woke me up, barking at 3:43 this morning. So I went downstairs to see what was wrong...she'd thrown up in her crate, so I had to let her out and clean that up...then she didn't want to get back in (and who would?), so I left her out and went back to bed...or tried to anyway...she began barking again, so I went back down to see if she'd gotten sick again. Nope...just thinks it's time to get up. She's running around, playing with her toy, demanding attention, like it's NOT sickly early! I guess I'll try to nap later. :~/ NOT how I planned to spend today!
Anyway, my back is much better since my chiro appt....thankfully, I seem to respond very well to an adjustment. Back pain is the worst! I'm glad I tend to heal quickly.
Well, I think I'm going to go try to do some reading or crocheting or something...I'm sure Daisy will curl up next to me if I go in the family room.
