...been a long time again...sorry! Doing ok...back is good. Knee not so much, but the allergist cleared me for the synvisc injection! Need to get approval from the insurance company now. Dropped 6 pounds the last 2 weeks, so I'm happy about that. Headed to Florida for a long weekend with a friend. Will be swimming in her pool for exercise while there. Never been that far south...looking forward to it!

So, was doing pretty well with recovering from moped accident. Made it back to the gym a few times, even. Then I moved Kate back to New Paltz, to college and managed to throw my back out while cleaning/rearranging her apartment!! Had to drive myself 2.5 hours home like that! And then it was late Saturday, so I couldn't get into the chiropractor until yesterday morning. It's better, but still not great and no working out for a few days. :( I guess the lesson for this summer is PATIENCE!!! (Learn the lesson and it won't be repeated, right?!) So I'm icing now, looking around at all the things I SHOULD be doing! Ugh...Patience, patience, patience!

Sorry...I mean to write more frequently...just not good at it. Anyway, I'm healing so well from the accident.

Been back to the gym two days in a row this week and feeling stronger! Even managed a complete course on the elliptical, at a pretty intense clip! Doing planks again (lost a lot of ground here...was doing close to 2 minutes and now can manage 4 30 second planks. But I'll get it back again). Back on the machines, even if I had to move the weights back a little. I'll get it all back soon enough!

Summer vacation is almost over and I spent the first half nursing wounds...so I'll likely be spotty on here, since I've got a lot of summer to make up for in just a few weeks!

    i am ok with short blogs, but i go weeks to a month without journaling and it is important as a way to clear out my brain and deal with things and plan goals.

Mini set back

So I was doing great...able to work out, for shortened lengths of time than before, but working out, nonetheless. Then I helped my son move out of his 2nd story apartment...going upstairs wasn't too bad, but going down, especially while carrying things, was very painful. Two days of this...too much. I'm not limping now, but I'm definitely feeling it. Think I'll give it another day of rest before trying to workout again. No more set backs!

Getting better...

I swam in a lake for 20 minutes yesterday, with almost no pain! Today I'm going to go to the gym and try a gentle workout! I'm so happy to be healing as well as I am! My accident was 2 weeks ago today. I've made tremendous progress! My knee feels so much better and my road rash scabs are all so much smaller! Well on my way!

    Thanks! Went back to the gym today...first time...was super hard! Still a lot I can't do because of injuries to forearms and not being able to put a lot of weight on bent knee...only managed 23 minutes on the elliptical, at resistance level 1, but I raised my heart rate, sweat buckets, burned calories and gosh darn it, I went back! And I'll keep going back...and improving each time! Am now icing and elevating and took some Tylenol... :( It's going to take time! And I'm not so good with patience...THAT'S the biggest lesson here, I think!
