Today has been another topsy turvy day. For the most part, it has been a really good day. I admit that I was very frustrated this morning because I was the only adult to take the grandchildren to church. This is pretty much the way that it goes. The children were particularly argumentative today. I am telling you that I was ready to whap them each with my cane. Very frustrating. When church was over, we were asked to stay after for a brief 10 minute meeting for the youth & their parents/grandparents. SIGH. Most of you know that I am always on the run in the "grandmama bus". 10 minutes might not sound like much to someone else... but 10 minutes in my world is A LOT. So, we stayed for 10 extra minutes... rushed to get everyone in the car... rushed to my house while calling ahead to have them put my bathing suit & towell in my gym bag & let DH know that I'd honk the horn when I drove up....rushed to deliver him to work by 12:45... rushed to get myself to the Inservice meeting for the Aquatics department at 1pm.... sat through the meeting that I had to leave early to.. rush to get dressed & get into the pool to teach my class.
FIRST BIG GOOD NOTE... it was a very large class. One of the biggest Sunday deep water classes that I have had. It was AWESOME! On top of it... no one in the Aquatics meetings said one word about my birthday, but then they had to do practice saves in the pool...so every single lifeguard & both the Aquatic director & assistant director were in the pool area when my class suddenly burst into song "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" at the top of their lungs! I was so pleased to be honored & PROUD that my class showed these co-workers how they feel about me. Sometimes I feel a little bit like the "step-child" of the aquatic department. TODAY I felt like a star. I teach a lot of classes. I teach classes seven days a week. People pay to take my classes. This is a good thing for the aquatic department and I hope that they will know that not only do I LOVE MY JOB but I am good at it. I believe that I am as good for the Y as the Y is for me. Today I felt that it showed. We had an awesome class. Everyone said that they had a good time and felt that it was a very good workout. We had two ladies who were new to the class. I hope that they come back. After the deep water class we had a really good Aqua Pilates class. There were two different new ladies in that class. It was very well attended today as well. I would say that today was the best Sunday classes that I have ever had. It was a great birthday present!
Second Big Good Note... I got home about 4:30pm and was starving because all I had eaten was a chewy granola bar before church. I was definitely ready to eat when I got home. However, the family (grandchildren & DIL) were busy creating the perfect TEA PARTY BIRTHDAY for Grandmama. They were so cute. My middle granddaughter drew decorations. They know I love spiders, so they made a Pin the Spider on the SpiderWeb game. We played the board game, Scattergories, that I love. We had yummy & healthy food choices in a TEA PARTY. The granddaughters & they parents gave me a heart locket that says Grandma on it. My son & his family gave me a whistling tea pot. The whole night turned out to be wonderful fun. When we played scattergories, we played teams. Each adult had a child on their team. It was fun.
My caloric range is very good today. My fitness level was good as well. I'm feeling really good about that. I was very frustrated this morning when I got on the scale and it said that I had gained 4 pounds. I am not going to post that gain because I weigh & post it on Thursdays when I do my Biggest Loser Challenge. I was just checking in and seeing how I was doing. GRRR. 4 pounds gained! Well. I did have 2 higher caloric days. However, I had several days that were much lower than usual. When I go to MY REPORTS and look at the caloric differential my average calories in fits into the BMR portion and doesn't ever get into the Exercise calories which were well over and made me feel safe with what I had eaten. OH WELL... I will just play the wait & see game. I'm going to stay within my calories this week and "let it be".
Tomorrow is going to be "back to normal". I am looking forward to seeing the ladies in the morning. I can't tell you how much they make my day. The grandchildren are off from school tomorrow so they are spending the night at my house again tonight. It will allow me to stay later at the Y & get in some good laps after teaching my two classes. When I leave the Y & will come home and spend some time goofing with the kids. I know that it's going to be good day.
Bright blessings to all. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the fun Happy Birthday messages & goodies that you have shared with me this weekend. It was/is wonderful. I love you! Dawn
