Here we are...

Here we are, and I have stuck to my guns. I got up at a ridiculously early hour yesterday and got on the elliptical for 30 minutes. I went walking at lunch today in the cold. It looked bright and pretty, but by the time I finished I was bundled up and glad for my heavy coat and scarf. Tonight I paid my dues for sleeping in this morning and did my weight workout. I chose to snuggle in bed this morning, but was not going to let it go. If I let it go today, I am more likely to let it go tomorrow.

I don't get my body to change without changing how I treat my body.

I got up early to use those blasted weights, but I did it. Again. This time I added more crunches to sit ups and tried to do "core" exercises. That is what my girlfriend told me it means when you face the floor, rest your weight on your arms, and hold your body like you're mid-push-up. Someone should be shot for inventing this. I made it to the count of...10. Oh yeah, hooray me. Then I collapsed onto the floor in a panting mess.

I also managed to go out on my walk at lunch today. It sure looked bright and sunny, but the wind picked up. I felt like Winnie-the-Pooh and the Blustery Day. I must have looked it too. My long hair was all frothed about my head when I blew back into the building!

Let me assure you, working out with weights has not suddenly become sexy or motivating for me in the last week. But I still do it. I keep chanting to myself, "if I keep doing what I always did, I will keep getting what I always got." What I got was a lot of NO PROGRESS. The only way to keep the scale moving the way I want is to continue to make changes to my life.

I used to hate the elliptical too, and now I love it. Surely some day I will love weights, right? I say, RIGHT? (cups my hand to my ear hoping for an affirming response)

I am still alternating every day. One day on the elliptical, one day with the weights. If I'm whining about it again, guess which day today was? ha ha!

    you will love the weights one day! how about the day when you can do more pushups than most of the guys at the gym? yeah that makes me love weights...

I did more weight training today. The weight continues to come off. I am not cheating with food at all. I distract myself with other things. Today I saved my celery sticks till later afternoon and that felt like a "big treat." HA HA!

After some time away from exercise, I am back in the groove. I worked out with the hated weights yesterday. I had lost muscle mass. I could not do two sets, but I pushed hard. Boy howdy do I feel it today! OW OW OW! My arms hurt, my tummy hurts from sit-ups. Goodness gracious!

I am going to bed at 10:00 PM and getting up at 6 to make time for workout before work again. I don't like getting up that early, but I dislike losing ground I gained even more.

I am eating right and not cheating at all.

    Hang in there!...but don't overdo. You've made a great start. I'm not much of a morning person even tho I'm up at 5 every day.

    Good luck with getting up early to regain your ground. Lifting my eyelids at 6 is usually more than I can do!LOL Now 7 I can handle but by then I am getting up to get my....no that's when I hit the alarm. 7:20 is more like when I get up and get my day started. Keep up the hard work
