Update/Me&My Harley!!

Saturday, August 08, 2009

I just wanted to tell everyone that I will be AWOL for a bit.
I am having shoulder surgery on Tuesday(yes, if you are a
praying person,I covet your prayers). It makes me uncomfortable
to undergo anesthesia...
I don't know how I will be painwise, but if it is not terribly bad,
then I'll be on here typing with one hand.....
So please do not think I have disappeared, or fell off my diet wagon.

THE moral of this story is this: when you are short, and ride a lower
type Harley Davidson motorcycle, and you are going to load same on
to a trailer, do make sure YOU don't bottom out. I didn't even think
of that, and almost went off the ramp under the bike. I have always
done a lot of lifting and heavy work, never crossed my mind to let the
bike drop (because I knew I'd be under it) so progressively, over the
last several months the left shoulder has gotten to be so painful I can't
sleep w/o meds....

I also want to POST how proud I am of DAVID. He has lost an AMAZING
23 POUNDS as of this morning..........

Blessings all,
Darlene

I will definitely be praying for you on Tuesday especially and also for a quick recovery. I don't know David but I'm happy that he lost 23 pounds. It's always nice to hear of someone's success.

We never know.........

Wednesday, July 29, 2009

We never know, when you stop and think about it, when we talk with someone
or talk to them on spark, what that person is going through in their personal life.
I am going to make an effort to give someone on here an encouraging word or two
daily. I have read pain.....and I feel for those people...
Let's all of us try to be a little kinder to each other............
Blessings,
Darlene

    Hello Darlene
I totally agree with you after all, it's a small world (like the song) and you may need someday. Darlene, thank you for sharing this and it's appreciated too. I try to help anyone that needs it, b/c that is me. I like to help others and it with kindness that I do it. Don't hesitate to ask me. I did not know the answer and I will to find it for you as well as me I am here for anyone. Talk to you later, take care, and have a nice weekend. (I know that I'm early on it, but I like doing some things early).

Such a great plan! It takes so little to be kind and the kicker here is that you, too, will be blessed. Thanks for reminding us. That alone, will make us happy. To see the smile on someone else's face will give US that warm fuzzy feeling. We can do it on Spark. Touching each other with our kindness and helping us to appreciate things and people in our lives. Great idea, girl! emoticon emoticon

yes kindness, but i think sometimes we also have to watch how we word things. you never know someone elses circumstances. if someone is grouchy or having a bad day it could be because someone else started it. so be kind and do like darlene is doing. just like a smile its infectious. bel

I'm with you. I am always reminded that when I think I have it bad there is someone who has it much worse. It makes me feel good to help others and usually a kind word is all I have to give, Not much effort at all to make someone feel good. Thank you for your blog.

GREAT THOUGHTS TO SHARE

Saturday, July 25, 2009

I found these, thought they were an excellent read, so wanted to share:
Blessings on you my friends! Darlene

Eight Gifts
============

Below are eight gifts that don't cost a cent to give.

1) THE GIFT OF LISTENING...
But you must REALLY listen.
No interrupting, no daydreaming, no planning your response.
Just listening.

2) THE GIFT OF AFFECTION...
Be generous with appropriate hugs, kisses, pats on the back and
handholds.
Let these small actions demonstrate the love you have for family
and friends.

3) THE GIFT OF LAUGHTER...
Funny pictures. Share articles, funny stories and funny
greetings. Your gift will say, "I love to laugh with you."

4) THE GIFT OF A WRITTEN NOTE...
It can be a simple "Thanks for the help" note or a full sonnet.
A brief, handwritten note may be remembered for a lifetime, and
may even change a life.

5) THE GIFT OF A COMPLIMENT...
A simple and sincere, "You look great in red," "You did a super
job" or "That was a wonderful meal" can make someone's day.

6) THE GIFT OF A FAVOR...
Every day, go out of your way to do something kind.
Helping elderly cross the road can be nice.

7) THE GIFT OF SOLITUDE...
There are times when we want nothing better than to be left
alone. Be sensitive to those times and give the gift of
solitude to others.

8) THE GIFT OF A CHEERFUL DISPOSITION...
The easiest way to feel good is to extend a kind word to
someone, really it's not that hard to say, Hello or Thank You.

Thats so uplifting and so true. Although, if I tried to help someone across the street in my state, they'd probably think I was trying to mug them or kill them; that or they would slap me for thinking of them as old :P
This really was a blessing, thanks for sharing.
God Bless
Jamie

I resent that part about the elderly, I can still make it across the road just fine! Hehehe! These are things we all can do. Give and you will get, plus the best part is it's gonna make you happy too. God bless and thanks for sharing. emoticon

Long Dry Spell

Monday, July 20, 2009

I haven't posted because I really didn't have anything new to write about.
Hopefully I am getting back on track with the weight thing. I had gained
some back, and just said stop. I had to come to the conclusion that I cant
do what anyone else does, and so far have lost about three pounds of what
I had gained back. I have to call my dr. and reschedule my appt. because I
know she will be upset with me for gaining. No more than I am upset with
me tho, I am sure. I am hoping to at least lose to what I was last time I was
there...lol
It is hard to deal with all this, can't get out and walk because my hip hurts
so bad, seems it is one health problem after another. I am grateful they are
not worse than they are, but it does get discouraging.
I will not be beaten. My will has never been broken before, and I will not
allow this situation to beat me now.
Seeya all at the salad bowl...........LOL

Glad to hear from you Darlene. I know we tend to pull away when things aren't going so well, at least I do. But that's when we need to reach out for support and friendship the most. I'm glad you wrote. We're here for you. Glad you're taking steps to lose the weight you've regained. Keep it going!

I'm in the same boat with you! I don't blog because there's nothing really positive to say. I'm in a rut of emotional eating that I can't seem to break. I just do the best I can on any given day. Can't exercise because of the balance disorder; can't even really walk for more than 10 minutes without getting nausea.

Sounds depressing, but I have to count my blessings. So many people are much worse off than I am. Thankfully, I have God to lean on and He keeps me going. Aren't we lucky to have such a God?

Blessings,
Marlene

Take hope in this thought, calorie restriction helps weight loss more than exercise does. That said, exercise is good but not if you're in pain. Let's do this together, we can you know. emoticon emoticon

Goodbye two old friends

Friday, June 26, 2009

Good afternoon,

I am just taking a few minutes here to say goodbye to Farrah Fawcett
and Michael Jackson. Both relatively young. Farrah put up a terrific
fight against cancer, and Michael Jackson apparently, according to the
news report this morning, may have received some kind of injection
before having a heart attack. The search is on for the dr. who lived
with him. I personally would not ever say anything negative, and as I
told some folks posting last night, elsewhere, remember he has children
who may read those unkind words. All they are going to know is their
daddy is gone.
Life is short. Enjoy and treasure every single minute, and never miss a
chance to say "I love you" to someone................whether it is your own
children, your spouse, your friends or family.

MJ was a great entertainer but troubled. Child stars often have more than their share of troubles. I believe they should nail the doctors to the ones who overdose on prescription drugs. Esp. if they are injecting them and aware of the amount and kinds of drugs. Sad childhood for his children also. Farrah F. was a brave woman. God help them both..

I grew up on Charlies Angels and Michael Jackson. No one can deny the talent both shared with us. Farrah fought one heck of a fight. Michael was troubled. My heart goes to both these families and the children. Red for Farrah and the three children of Michael. Regardless of what is said about him no one can discount his impact on the music and entertainment business. May both rest in peace.

Darlene I agree with you. I grew with both of them. I watched Charlie's Angels as a kid and even had the dolls. I wanted to be just like Michael Jackson growing up. I knew all the dance moves from the videos and had posters all over my room of him. I was one of those crazy obsessed MJ fans growing up. I'm devastated by his loss. Its a very sad day. The music world has changed forever by his death.
