This week, the world lost a special young lady. I have known her since she was
little, she sat on my lap or next to me at church, because she did not want me
to sit alone. For a little girl, she was remarkably astute. We became very close
as time went on, and odd things would pop up in my purse for her to find on
those Sundays...colored pencils, crayolas, notebooks, barrettes, things little girls
love to find...
Rebecca was honest, loved everybody she met, was a fierce competitor in high
school girls basketball, and no one I have ever spoken with heard her say an unkind
word to or about anyone. She had multitudes of friends, a great sense of humor,
was a great student...
She graduated from high school in May, turned 18 in August, and began college
close to home so she could drive back and forth.
Tuesday, December 13, she had finals and on her way home, in pouring rain, her
car hit water standing on the road, she hydroplaned and hit a power truck, and
the driver of that truck said she was going way under the speed limit, the water
standing on the road just threw her car out of control. Both drivers had their
seatbelts on, and I would expect nothing less from Rebecca.
She passed away in the hospital, at age 18, shortly after the accident.
Rebecca was a Christian, lived her faith, and her family and friends are devastated
by her absence, but we know she flew straight to Heaven.
I'm going to miss you, Babygirl. I know I will see you again........until then,
