Over the moon....

Thursday, September 30, 2010

Hi to all,

Well, for me great news....the wedding is back on and my son and his beloved
worked out the problems they had...imagine this....the actually sat down and
discussed them over a big glass of iced tea........both spoke their mind and the
hearts, and they have compromised and agreed they love each other far too
much to allow minor things to separate them. Yahoooooooooooooo..............
Wisdom ...... finally.

I am seriously over joyed, for I love his fiancee' ...... she is so easy for me to get
along with and David loves her also. Can't hardly wait for November to get here.
Looking forward to this.

We got in a good ride this afternoon on the bikes, by the way. Had a great time.
As soon as the leaves really start too turn, we will go up to Little River Canyon
and take some pictures.

Hugs yall,
Darlene

Wonderful news, truly pleased to hear your son and his beloved worked out their problems and you and DH got in a good ride.

I haven't forgotten I owe you an absence excuse note - just don't have the imagination to draft a suitable, believable, one at the moment - LOL

Update/dinner

Sunday, September 26, 2010

For those of you who read the other blog....re our ahhh birthday dinner,
I just wanted you to know that I did survive......L O L

It really did not go as off the track as I figured it would, as it had in the
past. I did keep a low profile, and did not say a whole lot, but they did
actually speak directly to me a couple of times.....and wonder of wonder,
his mother actually called him today and told him thank you for the birthday
present and what a good time she had and so on and so forth.

So, maybe it has sunk in for them that life is short, and their attitude toward
him needed to change. We shall wait and see. I hope so.

Anyway, we had a great time at church this morning, heard some powerful
songs, and had a great potluck after.............

Blessings ya'll, let's all have a great and productive week....

Nice to know you survived! It was nice that she called to thank him. It would be nice if his family noticed that time is not something we are guaranteed and treat your darlin' hubby better. I hope so. I know it is frustrating to you..and I'm sure to him as well that you aren't treated as you should be...
Hang in there and take care! Glad you had a fantastic Sunday!

Oh dear me

Saturday, September 25, 2010

This will be short.....lol (ya'll know me-never use ten words when a hundred will do)

All ya'll keep your fingers crossed for us. This afternoon we are taking the MIL to
dinner for her birthday. Of course his sister and her husband will come too...they
gave the MIL the okay to invite us to come to dinner with them. Wasn't that sweet
of SIL????????????

For Davids' sake, I hope this does not go badly. His family(MIL & SIL) don't like me
at all, sad to say, but I refused to let them steamroller me when we first got married
and after his open heart surgery, objected when MIL wanted him to mow her lawn &
weedeat it in 108--110 degree heat....so I have been the kicking bag ever since.

Today is her 81st birthday, and I feel he should spend as much time as he wants to
with her, and I am always respectful of her, so hopefully this will go well.

Pray for us..........................I don't want him to be hurt. I can take it, but he hurts
because they are like this to me.

You know I know what you are feeling. I am right there with you...and I fervently and ferociously pray that all goes well. I insist on Brian seeing his mother, too, even though I do not get along well with her. But we do this for our husbands because we've both seen them go through these things that could have killed them both. If I could be there with you, I would be RIGHT THERE. You continue to hold your head high, Momma. We are strong women who stand by our man. No matter what. And for David's sake, I hope they understand that this is a day to be rejoicing.

God bless you. Many prayers your way. Let me know how it goes?

Shopping today

Thursday, September 16, 2010

Hi Gang,

We went shopping today. Wanted to let David spend his birthday dollars...yahooooooo

So he dropped me off between Dicks Sporting Goods and Hobby Lobby, so I strolled in to
the Dress Barn just for a check up on whats new in fashion. I found two sweaters I just
loved. 2 problems. The color of one was a beautiful Eggplant, but it would have struck
me(short as I am)about belt level, showing everything in my pockets which just would not
work for me as some of you know the stuff I carry in my pockets..(LOL) On to the second
sweater, which was lovely, just so soft, and was in one color only - Grays.....which meant
I would have had to purchase gray jeans, which I might add were also available in the
display.
The problem here???? was that I don't look good in grays...and I would have also had to
buy a black turtleneck with long sleeves.
The reason I didn't get it was the color. They had some beautiful clothes, just made too
short in shirt length. So I got nothing today....lol..........David did get the toy he was
wanting, so all is well in Gadsdenville..............................
.......lol

I did find a great selection of tennis shoes in assorted colors, brands and so forth at
Dicks Sporting Goods. Next time I need shoes I am going back there.

Ok, enough about my day. All ya'll keep your fingers crossed for me tomorrow. I am
getting bloodwork done and I am hoping the kidneys are getting better...I will know if
there is any change when I see the specialist next week.

Hugs ya'll,
Darlene

Hey next time you buy something grey go for a bright colour like a cherry red or vibrant pink or blue- you'll look stunning and the positive feel you get wearing something bright lifts you too.

Sept. 11th

Saturday, September 11, 2010

Today is a day to remember those innocent people who were senselessly
murdered, and also, remember those first reponders, firemen, policemen,
a priest, who gave their lives trying to save others.

Remember the military personnel at the Pentagon who got it in the back,
so to speak, and all these people.........they had families who grieve and
many who never had closure.

I am not for hatred. I am for respecting others and their rights as they should
respect mine.

God Bless America, all her people, regardless race, creed, color or faith. Those
things really do not matter. What does matter, is, that we should stand united
against whomever comes against all of us or any of us who are American citizens.

Oh, by the way, I am flying my flag, as we always do. And no one should deface
our flag.

God Bless America, God bless our military, wherever they are serving, and may
God bless the rest of us citizens, who love our country and our flag, and the
rights we are blessed to enjoy. And don't tread on our Constitution. Live by it.

Just my feelings today, along with immense sadness for those today who are missing
a loved one, or are dealing with consequences of September 11, 2001.

I don't think anyone will ever forget where they were on this day. I was working
and 3 of us were heading to another store, 50 miles from home, to help work their
inventory. We heard it on the radio in my truck.

My husband, son and I watched TV together as the second tower fell. My son whispered, almost under his breath, "I'm enlisting right now". He served the US in the Army proudly, and is now in the reserves. I'll never forget that day and all the lives that were changed forever.

My husband just retired after 21 years in the Army National Guard. It is a wonderful feeling for them when so many people thank them for their service. I am very proud of the things he has done. He says we have no idea what it is like in third world countries, can't begin to imagine. How blessed we are to have the freedom we do.

God bless all of the survivors, families and those who were murdered that day.

God Bless OUR COUNTRY!

Thank you for your blog/ My 18 yr old grandson enlisted in the Guards last spring Although I was alittle apprehensive about that, when he went I made a committment to write every day to him while he was gone and I did that. He was so over whelmed with all the letters he got and thanked me countless times Also I need to share that when he was flying home after graduation he was so blown away at all the people who thanked him, bought him meals and were just down right wonderful to him. I am so grateful to them and VERY PROUD OF MY SOLDIER!!!! Thanks again for your blog

Your comment says it all. I do think of the families often. I too remember exactly where I was that day, I was in the bath tub washing my hair, when the dear hubby yelled for me to get in the den quick, shampoo still in hair I sat on the couch in horror at what was happening right before our eyes. God Bless us all.

    A fitting tribute Darlene.
I will always remember where I was as it unfolded. I had landed at Heathrow Airport, having come back from holiday, and saw the footage in the airport lounge. We thought at first it was a disaster movie until we realised it was "actually" the BBC world news.
My thoughts are with the survivors and their families.
Please God that we never see anything like this again!
