I love my little netbook, I got it when I first hurt my back, and use it for the times I can't sit at the regular computer. It keeps me in touch.
Glad your trip was fun!

The netbooks are great little gadgets for occasional travel, perfect to play a game of solitaire, or watch a movie, but the screen real-estate does mean a lot of scrolling. Personally I miss having a full sized Keyboard.

Have fun on your trip.

Stay safe.

Memorial Day

Sunday, May 30, 2010

Hi everyone who reads this.....lol

I was just thinking, this day was originated to honor our servicemen, regardless of
which one they served in, by General John A. Logan of Murphysboro, Illinois, right
after the American Civil War. (I used to pass thru his home town often).

I am thinking of this, realizing I am married to a decorated Veteran of the Vietnam
War, and he and I were talking about people celebrating this as the start of summer
as opposed to what it was really about in the first place, remembering our fallen
military.............Think about it. If not for those brave people who went off to war
in World War I or WW2, or Korea, or Vietnam, or wherever, we may not be so blessed
and be as free as we are.

GOD BLESS OUR AMERICAN MILTARY, GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Shake a veterans' hand, thank them for their service. You may be surprised at their
reaction.

Thanks for posting this and God bless all of our service men & women! While my husband has not been in a war he just retired with 22 years of Army National Guard service. He joined his senior year of high school. I am proud of him for his contribution. I am so thankful for all who have given to our country many of whom gave the ultimate sacrifice. God Bless them all.

Thanks for posting this Darlene. I think people too often "forget" what this day is all about. It seems just another excuse to go to the beach!
We all have the opportunity to live very blessed lives because of the sacrifices of those that have served in the military, and I for one am very grateful for those oppportunities and try to teach my daughter the importance of the sacrifices made by these men and women.
I agree, these folks should be honored each and every day...not just once a year!!!

God bless the Veterans of today. Most young people aren't willing to volunteer, so the ones who do are the best. In church they asked the Veterans to stand and there were only about 5 from 350 people. Mine was one of those standing. He's Navy. Thank your hubby for me for his service. God bless all service persons, I love them for keeping us free!
I used to say that I had all the services except Army because my first was Air Force, 2nd Marines but I ended up with Navy... emoticon

I 'thank' a Vet/AD Soldier (or other Branch) all the time... It should be EVERY Day, not just one day/weekend out of the year.

Close Call

Saturday, May 22, 2010

We went for a ride on the bikes today. It was nearly our last ride too. We were
preparing to pass a slow moving vehicle, and did move by and then when clear I
moved over to the right lane. David was still beside me in the left lane and out
of nowhere I saw a black blur in my mirrors and this SUV whipped in behind me,
hitting the brakes so hard her vehicle was rocking and if David had not looked
before he pulled over he would have hit her in the side, and all of a sudden, she
whipped back into the left lane and I am watching her and she missed his tail-light
by maybe 4 or 5 inches. So then when we could he got over and she was taking
off doing at least 90 miles an hour. In only a quarter of a mile she was completely
out of sight. She came so close to wiping both of us out, it was enough to take
both our breath away. I really feel like she was high or crazy and I doubt she
got thru this day without having a wreck.
You cannot jerk the wheel at high speed like that and keep a top heavy vehicle on
the tires.
It made me very thankful that we always pray before we leave the driveway...because
definitely God kept us safe today.

I'm glad that God was watching over you both! People just don't look for bikes. Here in NJ, the MRA has put up billboards and have done tv commercials to make people aware of bikes on the road. Not sure if it's helping or not!

I just got back from Milwaukee and was surprised that the big-rig trucks on the road were very aware where we were (there were only 2 of us). It was the cars I had to worry about! I almost got hit at least twice every day (by cars!).

So very relieved that you are safe and well. You never know what is going through peoples minds on the road. Traveling can be very dangerous. Prayer is a very important spiritual tool, weapon and covering. Glad you were covered!
May God hold you in the palm of his hand!

    Darlene,
thank God he was watching out for you and Hubby that day. I agree with DEE motorcycle training and awareness should be #1 on the lessons to watch out for motorcycle, too bad you couldnt got her licence # and called the cops on her , she could have been drinking, high what have you, but you are hear today still with us. thank you God.
I see alot of sticker in MN here that people have on there cars stating watch out for motorcycles. its so true, there was a motorcycle accident here in mn about 20 miles from my place and the car hit the guy on the motorcycle and it was a car full of young kids drinking beer cans all over and the guy was hurt very badly. and in the newspaper his son wrote in an article that it was his father that was on that bike.
they need to give motorcycle the right of way. and kids in cars need to quit partying in them and of course not drink.I dont know what happened to the driver of the car, hopefully some jain time and I know dwi,and license taken away. mn is tuff on DWI's. so glad you are still with us. God bless you both.hugs kat

TODAY WAS A FIRST

Sunday, May 16, 2010

Hi everyone,

We went riding today on the bikes, intending to take some pictures...HA
We rode down behind the mall and took a couple, but it was cloudy and overcast
and we knew it was supposed to rain, so we decided to head back home....but I
decided to ride the loop around thru the country and pop over to the interstate
and come home before the rain. "I DON'T RIDE IN THE RAIN."
Anyway, before we got 2 miles it began to sprinkle, and us in after church traffic,
and a couple car lengths later, the skies opened......I love my windshield, but gee
whiz, water hitting it and my helmet shield, hindered my vision, but since I didnt
know anyplace we could pull off, plus we could have sat there for hours, I signed to
David I was goiing home.....and proceeded to cut off the highway and hit all the back-
streets home. We had to pour water out of our boots where our jeans were so wet,
fortunately my wallet and phone were in the waterproof pockets of my jacket...LOL
We looked like a couple of drowned rats....
WOULDN'T you know??? all the neighbors were out on the porches....,
David thought I would be really upset about the rain, and while that was the 1st time
I ever rode on wet pavement, I just took it easy and we made it.
Truthfully, I don't think getting wet/riding on wet roads bothered me near as much as
the awful lightening........

Yikes! I hate riding in rain too. Glad you did ok. I have a very hard time seeing and I often wonder how those people on those big Honda Goldwings manage. I see them in the rain gear dragging the luggage behind and I think omg no way. The only time I have ever ridden in a downpour was during my motorcycle training class. The safety glasses fogged over and between that and the water on them I couldnt see a thing. I've been caught out a few times but I've always made it home before it got too horrible. So...now that you've done it and made it...are you gonna do it again? LOL
