Motorcycle Riders Beware

Saturday, March 27, 2010

I am so sad to have to tell my fellow riders this horrible story. Some of you may have
heard, others may not.
This week, in Phoenix, 8 motorcycle riders were sitting behind two other vehicles at
a red light, and a man driving a garbage truck was fiddling with some papers in the
truck while driving, NOT WATCHING WHERE HE WAS GOING OBVIOUSLY, and ran over
the bikers. The truck went over the top of them and the
bikes caught fire. At last count 3 were dead, 6 others injured, 2 super critical, 1 was
treated and walked away, 3 are seriously critical.

With riding season on us, please be careful, watch your mirrors when waiting on a light
or whatever. This man is sorry, he says, yet how many people talk on the phone or TEXT
while driving. DRIVE DEFENSIVELY.............RIDE DEFENSIVELY.

How Horrible!!! I would hate to live with myself, caring all that guilt around because I wasn't paying attention.. Especially a huge truck.. I want to send this to some of my biker friends..

I was at a red light, and I happened to look in my mirror, and saw the truck coming up to fast. My ex hubby and I managed to scoot our bikes up alongside the car in front of us before impact..The car was hurt, not us nor the people in the car..Always Be Aware of You Surroundings!!!

This hit close to home. Thank you for sharing..

Wow.. that is so tragic. I don't know why people cannot pay attention!! Now all those families are missing loved ones...
On my way to work (1/2 hour each way) everyday I am behind someone usually that is either swerving over the yellow line or suddenly slows down to like 20 miles per hour.... turns out - - they are texting! Surprise, surprise.
Definitely have to always be aware of our surroundings!! Pretend like you are invisible - - that's what they told me in my Motorcycle Safety Course!

Yikes! That is terrible! I called and left a message for the CEO at the YMCA. I can't worry about the emergency when I am exercising. I hope you are having a good week too!

While sitting at red lights, I have been struck by other vehicles 3 times!!! While I was just sitting there. You can't tell if someone is going to slow down or not. I honk my horn a lot now just to wake people out of their daze!

Just an update....today one of the riders who happened to
be a lady, was taken off life support. That is 4 killed,
the fire chief is super critical after surgeries, and 3 critical.
One escaped without serious injury.

OMG how awful. An yet daily we see so much going on that should not be while driving eating, putting on make-up, shaving, texting, reading a book and things that should be left for the bedroom. When will people learn.

Oh my goodness, how tragic. Can only imagine how the driver of the truck feels, are they not supposed to be professional drivers??

What a tragedy. I just wish we had laws about texting and using cell phones in vehicles. You have to keep your mind and eyes on the road! I'm sorry, Darlene. I know how this hits home for you. Be safe, my friend!

Thank you!

Today as we were driving I looked over to my right and the two cars in view were both dialing numbers on their cell phones. It's against the law in California but people are oblivious..

    How horrible.

People are 'just too busy' these days to pay attention.

Not a good reason at all.....

A second of carelessness and many lives gone...in a second.

Thanks for posting this - it gives cause to BE AWARE of surroundings.

ATTENTION PRAYER PARTNERS

Sunday, March 21, 2010

I got a email from Char, regarding her husband Bob (whom we have several on here
praying for) and GREAT NEWS....he is in remission. The dr. says it has to be a God
thing, because he doesn't know how else this happened. The unfortunate news is he
was dropped on the xray table and now has 3 compression fractures in his back.
Char and Bob are very grateful for all the prayer support. She says she has not had to
much time to be online, and also she is having computer problems....
I would just ask that we continue to hold Bob and Char up in prayer.....thank you so
much.........

    Hello Darlene,
Thank you for the update on Char and Bob. Still have them in my thoughts and prayers too. May God put his healing hands on them and help them get over all of this. It's good that he is in remission, b/c I went through cancer 3 times. The last time for me was in 2005 and hope we all won't go through it anymore.

LIFE'S WISDOM

Sunday, February 21, 2010

This is something we should all read at least once a week!
Written By Regina Brett, of The Plain Dealer, Cleveland , Ohio

"To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me.
It is the most-requested column I've ever written."
My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.
3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.
5. Pay off your credit cards every month.
6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.
8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.
9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.
10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.
11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.
12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.
13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.
15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks.
16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.
17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.
19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.
20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.
21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special –tomorrow is not guaranteed.
22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.
23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.
24. The most important sex organ is the brain.
25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.
26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words 'In five years, will this matter?'
27. Always choose life.
28. Forgive everyone everything .
29. What other people think of you is none of your business.
30. Time heals almost everything . Give time time.
31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
32. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
33. Believe in miracles.
34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.
35. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.
36. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.
37. Your children get only one childhood.
38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.
40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.
41. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
42. The best is yet to come.
43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
44. Yield.
45. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift..."

Friends are the family that we choose for ourselves.
