Good food/bad food

Thursday, July 08, 2010

I just realized that I've always lumped food into either a "good food" category or a "bad food" category and it really became magnified when ever I would try to do my WW plan. Being on the plan helped me to eat accordingly but the trouble always came whenever I felt like I "blew" the eating plan out of the water and then of course the guilt hits and then I would give up. and eat whatever. mostly bad food. I would save the good food for when I would pick myself up and get back on the plan. WHAT KIND OF THINKING WAS THAT!? I like/love the good food and just need to be eating that kind of food all of the time, not just when I felt like I was back on the plan. I am going to change my way of thinking about food being good or bad, and just eat food, and concentrate so much more on the good!

sparks in the heart if not in the night sky

Sunday, July 04, 2010

Well, it's the Fourth of July and it has been raining steadily all day long. I am hoping that the clouds are drained of their rainwater by 10pm tonight so that we will be able to watch the fireworks display in town, as the kids and I are excited to see this yearly event. My red, white and blue jello desserts are ready and it is nearly time to prepare the beef and chicken veggie kebabs and also the fruit kebabs. I have been actively engaging in buying and serving loads of fruits and veggies for my family and I am feeling so much better about doing this for all of us. This seems so much better than a baby step, maybe I'll call it a toddler step... emoticon

Your blog made me hungry. I was at my cities farmers market today and I wanted to get blueberries but I forgot my cash. (I work weekly at the market) Did you end up getting the fire works in your city?

These shoes were made for walkin!

Tuesday, August 25, 2009

Well, yesterday I finally broke in the new pair of tennis shoes I bought last week. A friend and I walked on the school track while our kids were in running club. At first I was really getting out of breath and it seemed just a bit too warm for me to be out there exercising, but after about a quarter mile, the walking just became easier and we were busy talking and taking in the scenery and before you knew it, we'd walked nearly 2 miles! I attribute this to my new shoes, but I know that was only a small part of it. The best part of all? The proud look in my child's eyes when he ran past me, like he was so happy to have me outside near him and that I was finally starting to take care of my self. Priceless!!! emoticon emoticon

WooHoo! Good for you! The hardest part is getting out the door and getting started. Once you've done that you will find you don't want to stop!

It's always nice to walk with a friend. Walking and talking you don't realize how far you've gone. What better way to exercise. I can imagine the look on your son face. My sons are a lot of encouragement to me. It's the best.

Daphne...Good for you for hanging in there. As long as you start out slow to allow the fluids to work their way into your joints you should be good to go! You keep working it and you just may be running with your child!

Much too much!

Saturday, August 22, 2009

Well, going out with my friends on Thursday was not nearly as tempting as I'd anticipated, I had a medium hazelnut latte (my fav!) and my friend (the birthday girl) suggested that we all share a piece of chocolate cake. Mind you, there were 4 of us there to do the sharing of that one tiny little piece of cake. Totally explains why she is so petite!

Last night was a different story altogether...My other friend just found out she is moving away due to a new job so 3 of us got together for what I thought would be a drink...well, a drink turned into soup and half priced appetizers for each of us! Yikes - I had a hard time trying to stay sane but at the same time didn't want to put a damper on the evening by not joining in on the festivities.

I need to find that happy medium where everyone is served...

If you can plan ahead and think about what they have at different places that you and your friends go then you should be able to please yourself! Remember, this is about you and no one else. You can still join in on the festivites but on your terms. How nice was the birthday girl to share her piece of cake with four of her best friends! I am sure that put your mind to rest. Keep working at it it all gets better!

Temptation is in the eye of the beholder

Thursday, August 20, 2009

I'm a bit nervous about going out to a restaurant tonight with some friends. As long as I'm eating within the boundaries of my home I am more able to keep a clear head about what goes in...We will be celebrating a friend's birthday so naturally we will have some sort of sweet and I do love their fancy coffee. I've eaten lightly today in anticipation of going out tonight but have a feeling that eating too lightly = lightheadedness = fuzzy thinking = sweets yelling out my name. I must remain in control!

Wish me luck...
