1/9/2012 day 1 of new beginnings

Monday, January 09, 2012

So I am here starting my promise to myself to blog daily about the exercise I have completed for the day. I am looking to lose 50 - 70 pounds and I need to get serious. I am totally convinced that my health is based on my being successful in this decision.

Today I took Jasper, my dog for a 30 min walk. Unfortunately because I walk with a cane I could only walk so far but I did try to walk as brisk as possible for me.After my walk I stayed out in the yard and put my bird feeders back out since the threat of bears should be gone, I hope Talked with my new neighbor for about 1/2 hour and played with their dog Sam and let jasper get to know Sam also so they can be playmates.

Finally came in and now I am doing some laundry and a little bit of house work. Not going to do too much more because I am still recovering from being sick over the weekend and I feel pretty wiped out right now.

Oh. I forgot, when I came in I spent about 10 minutes dancing to a couple of good songs, including Light my fire by the doors. that was fun

Until tomorrow, Keep moving and please help and support me. this is important to do emoticon

Hugs danlin

Way to go! I need to get the music out more often, it helps me stick with the plan because I enjoy moving to the beat!

You started out strong! Don't worry about your speed right now, focus on safety because slipping and falling now will just set you back. Walking a dog with a cane is tricky! Even doing the Walk away the pounds indoors is good right now! But is is great for you northers to get out in the sun a good half hour a day for that vitamin D and it helps if you have SAD, which I did when I lived up there.

Just stay safe.

Hi, sounds like a wonderful first day!! You got up, you got out and you got moving. Couple this with good eating and you will be making progress. (love how you pushed yourself to walk as fast as you could, that's the way to do it, try to improve/go further every day, you'll be surprised how much you are capable of!)
Love the elephants pic, cute baby! Am going to see if you have a pic of Jasper on your page....

Forgive me if I have already told you and I am repeating this. I wanted to tell you about a new addition to my family her name is Gabby and she is my new parakeet. My beautiful daughters and their wonderful DH's and my 7 grandchildren got her for my christmas present this year. they knew that I have wanted a parakeet for a long time now.. My Mom had one and taught it to talk I am hoping that I will be able to do the same. I am really enjoying her and she is a joy to watch. she seems to be adjusting well though she is very flighty when I try to handle her. I also have a jealous Maltese dog who is jealous when I give Gabby some attention but Jasper (my dog) does seem to be getting use to Gabby.

I named my bird Gabby because the name means God is my strength and it is also named in honor of congresswoman Gabby Gifford whom I have great admiration for

I can't begin to thank my family for her. they bought the cage, the food, litter for the bottom of cage, treats, toys everything I would need to give her a good home and they gave me a gift certificate so I could go to the pet store the day after Christmas and get her. My DH brought me the next day to pick her out

I am going to try to post a picture of her here, hope I can do it right

Once again, thank you from the bottom of my heart to my two daughters and their husbands. I love you all so much!!! . emoticon emoticon emoticon

How wonderful! sure your baby will give you years of companionship and entertainment. be patient she will calm down and let you handle her with ease, the dog will also come to accept her - just one word of advise...dogs are hunters, never forget that the instinct will always be there to catch the bird. I will never become too confident with my lot - 3 parrots & 2 dogs - when we go out the birds must go into the cages and I block the door off for the dogs.

Wow, I've always wanted a parakeet! I am drawn to the blue ones. Someday....

Love that you named her Gabby after the Congresswoman. I used to live in Tucson just a few years ago.

Cool! Teach her to say "Is that your best snacking choice?" and of course "You're looking great today!"

Need Christmas Cards please help

Tuesday, November 29, 2011

Hi Everyone, If all of us would send this boy a christmas card with our prayer included in the card, he could easily reach his goal and imagine his face when he comes out of his medically induced coma. will you help. Address is below.

On the news tonight, they interviewed the family of a 14 year old autistic boy who is currently in a medically induced coma. His favorite chore at home was opening the mail and before the surgery he was supposed to have, he told his family that he wanted to get over 300 Christmas cards. There is even a group on Facebook trying to get these cards for him. If you are so inclined, please consider sending Chance Franck a Christmas Card. His address is as follows:

Chance Franck.
PO Box 73,
Hopkinton, IA 52237.

I was worried that this might be a hoax until saw the news report on KGAN online.

Someone gave me a box of "extra" holiday cards recently (you know, those cards in the 12 pack that are left over after you send 10 of them!). She must have been saving them for a long time! lol I don't really send holiday cards, as I am not Christian :o) , so I only use 1 or 2 a year. I think I will bring a bunch of "extra" cards to each holiday party/event this year and have folks sign them!

Thanks for this info!!

snow in OCTOBER???

Sunday, October 30, 2011

last night we ended up with 18 " of snow in NH in my town of Hopkinton. News said we broke 100 year old records for the months of October and November ( and it is not even Nov yet, I might point out) weather man would not predict is this is any sign of what our winter will be like 50/50 chnce. Temps are suppose to climb into the 50's this week so a lot of this will melt.

Looks pretty, especially when you don't have to shovel it...

Here in Texas, we'd be happy for water to fall from the sky in ANY form! At least it's cooled off. We had to turn on our heat for the first time last night, although it's probably still ;ate summer by Nor'eastern standards.

We got it in NJ as well. My power just came back on. It was out for a bit more than 24 hours. Thank goodness. I will be able to get ready for school tomorrow now and cook something for dinner. Plus now the house won't be so cold!
