My Personal Streak

Tuesday, January 21, 2014

And what is it? I just noticed that I have logged onto my favorite website -- SparkPeople --- 900 straight days. Since joining 3 years ago I also noticed I only missed being here was when I was taking care of my sweet Mom and had no access to the computer and I didn't own a "smart" phone.

I credit this site for making me aware daily of what I eat and how active I am and also being able to be with my Spark Friends and communicate with them for inspirations through the good times and the bad.

What a wonderful place this is for us all. In all reality I probably would not have maintained my weight loss that I have attained since being a Spark Person. I have not met my weight loss goal but I have achieved my goal of not going back to the weight I was when I joined !! That is the greatest achievement in my eyes ....

Thank you SparkPeople and Thank you my Spark Friends. You all mean so much to me; you are my inspiration and motivation. Hugs to all my current friends and all those I have yet to meet!!

Rocie

WOW 900 days is terrific! As is maintaining a loss - they say that's the hardest part. I find SP very beneficial - and am frustrated with those people who post criticisms - I always want to say "you get what you pay for" to those few! You get WAY MORE than what you pay for here! Keep up the great work!

    Great on your SP streaks!!!!

I am also on my newest streak and close to going over my 120 days. So excited! My original streak of 120 was broken when my youngest grandgirl was born last March.

I love the food tracking on this site! It's the best! emoticon

Love that. Reminds me of when I was little, my dad's friend named his dog "damn it" so when he called the dog called the dog, he could say come in here damn it. You have to understand I was very, very young and thought this was just the most hysterical thing I had ever heard.

For our Oklahoma Friends

Tuesday, May 21, 2013

And on the 9th day, God looked down on his planed paradise and said, "I need someone to live where the red dirt is settled." So God made Okies. He said "I need someone who can handle the blistering summers and the freezing winters." So God made Okies. "I need someone who can wake up in the morning, drink black coffee, head out to the fields, cut the wheat, bale the hay, and stay in those fields till long after dark" so God made Okies. "I need people tough enough to stand the heat as they work day in and out on drilling rigs and pumping units." So God made Okies. "I need people to wear Orange & Black, Crimson & Cream and though those schools are rivals, all can rise together to support the Orange & Blue." So God made Okies. "I need people who believe in me and the power of goodness. People who aren't afraid to say 'Hello!' to one another and welcome in visitors to their land with open arms." So God made Okies. "I need people who are strong enough to stand thru the strongest storms and the most devastating heartbreaks" So God made Okies. And amidst the destruction, turn to me for comfort and come together as a state and rise above it all. So God, made Okies (author unknown)

Thoughts and prayers go out to all my Oklahoma friends and relatives.

Beautiful Hummingbird Moth

Sunday, August 19, 2012

We've had several visits from Hummingbird Moths this year. I am not sure if they are more local for Ohio but this is the only place I have ever seen them. For those who have never heard of them, or seen one before, I thought I would share a couple of pictures I took yesterday.

They are just beautiful little creatures and will let you get right next to them.

The first time I saw one I was glad someone was there to tell me what it was, because I couldn't figure out whether it was a bug or not! It looked like a gigantic bumblebee but hovered like a hummingbird. I've seen pictures of ones that look like crayfish with wings. Amazing critters!!

They are probably in PA also, I am not outside long enough to see any of them. Your flowers are beautiful. I have some beautiful ones around my house also. I will do some walking at home, especially tonight and do what I can to get some exercise in. Maybe tomorrow before we go to the orthodontist for DD. It is going to be a really hectic week. emoticon

Petie's New Runway !

Sunday, July 08, 2012

My oh my what we do for those we love .... and our Petie is so special to us. He will be 15 in October and has had a time with walking steps to go outside for his doggie duty so we thought we'd come up with a ramp for him .... we finished it today and he was ever so shocked when we opened the door and he started going down the ramp .... he walked so fast I wasn't able to get his picture until he started back up to go back into the house. So here is Petie's new walking path -- architecture, design and carpeting by the folks he adopted 14 years ago .....

And here he is ---- Master Pistol Pete, Alias Petie -----

And just to add another beautiful sight, I took this picture of one of many Monarchs visiting our butterfly bush this year ....

Yes, Petie deserves what you made for him. I actually have a ramp for my old doggie Leftie to get on my bed. He decided he didn't like being lifted up and when he wanted down, he tried to jump too many times. Thus a ramp.
