I just got around to updating my calorie deficit tracking for yesterday (I didnít track anything from May 20 Ė 26 b/c I was on vacation and didnít enter things b/c I had no internet! Obviously I donít know what my deficit/surplus was for those days, but just best-guessing, it was probably about an even split. Ignoring that gap, Iím barely at 20% of my deficit goal (no surprise why the scale is still dancing around singing the same number it was at the beginning of the month, I guess). I missed my goal last month due to a catastrophic bingy week near the end. I was so set on making it this time, but then I wrenched my ankle mid-month and put myself out of commission for a solid two weeks, went on vacation, and am still recovering from both! While Iím not thrilled that I only managed a calorie defiict of about 3,300 calories overall (~1 lb?), Iím way more OK with missing my goal this month than last month, since I had real reasons for missing it, not just a lack of all self control.

I am officially cleared to exercise on my ankle as of this Saturday (presuming it doesnít hurt when I do so), and since itís the end of the month, itís time to start thinking about June and what my plans are for that. I never thought that a 15,000 calorie deficit would be that hard to achieve in a month, but my struggle with that goal these past 2 months has really opened my eyes to why Iíve been stuck at this weight for so long. The good news with that is I know I need to work harder on some things (and Iíve pinpointed what those are, at least somewhat!) and Iím definitely going to shoot for that goal next month.

Iím glad I took a few days vacation and went away for a bitóit was nice to get out of town/routine, and Iím trying to use that as a reset point for myself (for instance, Iíve been at work by 8:30 everyday since I got back, which is closer to when Iíd like to get in!) Baby steps, but thatís what Iím shooting for!

    It's so interesting how really all it is is a simple math equation: calories in - calories out. I bet this has been an eye-opening experience for you, tracking it all...

Vaca!

John and I are flying out to DC for the long weekend (Sat-Tues! woohoo!), and Iím super excited! Iím going to do some pre-trip shopping this afternoon after work (assuming I get off on time) because when I started making my packing list last night, I realized I had a very limited selection of warm weather clothesÖeek! Not that itís been cold up here either, but itís supposed to be mid 80s the whole weekend, and I donít think my wardrobe oí winter-weight jeans, sweaters, and hoodies is going to be terribly comfortable. Weíll see what I find. I rather dislike shopping (in general), but since I have a pretty good idea of what Iím looking for, it shouldnít be too bad!

Iím always torn about shopping since I never can decide if itís worth it to invest in new clothes that fit (because, the optimist in me says they wonít fit for long)Öbut, seeing as I havenít lost much more than 2 pounds in the last few months (and what I have lost, I keep gaining back and re-losing) I think itís safe to say that I donít have to worry about that too much. And if by some miracle I do lose enough that they donít fit in the near future, well, Iíve gotten some use out of them, and thatís all that really matters. Better to have clothes that fit and get worn for just a bit than to have clothes that donít fit and never get used, right!?

I thought Iíd be more nervous about the whole food/exercise thing on this vacation, but Iím bringing my running shoes (my twisted ankle is feeling much much better nowÖit made two gruesome popping sounds the other day and immediately started feeling better, so I think Iíll be good for a couple 20 minute runs when weíre away). And Iím pretty good at being picky with my food, so Iím not terribly nervous on that front, either. And itís just 4 days, so Iím pretty sure I can undo any ďdamageĒ in fairly short order!

So anyhow, Iím taking a much needed vacation and have decided not to stress about anything! (except shoppingÖthatís why Iím doing that tonightóget it out of the way before I pick John up from work!)

    Have fun! One thing I can't wait for is having a stable weight, so I can buy new clothes without worrying about how long they'll fit. Running in a new place sounds like a lot of fun, enjoy!
