Christmas Presents

I remember growing up and not getting much for Christmas as we got older. I’ll never forget the Christmas I got a shirt, a record album and a sleeping bag. I was a young teen and I hated going back to school and having the other kids ask, 'So what did you get for Christmas?' I just said, 'clothes and things'. I felt bad about it and it's something I think about every Christmas. There were 4 girls and I know my parents did the best they could.

So in the true spirit of Christmas, this year I took 5 kids off the Angel tree at our local grocery store. I picked 2 girls and 3 boys ages ranging from 1 to 12 and got them each 7 gifts. I told the old man not to buy me anything that this year that my Christmas present is giving to other kids that otherwise wouldn't have a Merry Christmas.

I'm not looking for a pat on the back or a high 5 or anything like that. I just hope the gifts I bought them put a smile on their little faces. I know I can’t help them all, I only wish I could do more for the other kids on the tree. I hate to think of any child not having a good Christmas.

This is the post I left on Dale Jr's, Kelley Earnhardt's, PIR, Hendrick Motorsports & the National Guard FB pages...'I was just informed that the National Guard people at PIR packed up their display and left the flats of posters and cases of 8x10 photos of Dale Jr. on the ground to be walked on and kicked about. Then a grounds keeper came along and picked them up and threw them in the trash. This has me so upset. There is another race this season that the items could have been taken to and handed out. I myself missed this display and would have loved to have gotten some of it. I'm thinking they left a little early. I saw the hauler leaving and there was still plenty of time left before the race started. I was also told that they packed up early on Fri too. So I'll bet it's safe to say they did on Saturday as well. I hope someone has a talk with these people. Dale Jr. fans are offended by this. If they didn't want to haul the items around, all they had to do was take it out of the race track then dispose of it out of the eyes of the fans.' We need to spread the word that this is no acceptable behavior.

This is my only reply so far... National Guard.... 'Tina, we're sorry to hear about this incident and that it upset you. Thank you for your support of Dale Jr.'

Come on, where is the assurance that this will NOT happen again! Kelley, it's your brother where's your outrage? I just don't get it! EVERY Dale Jr fan should be as OUTRAGED as I am!

Doesn't the taxpayer dollars fun the National Guard? So not only did they throw away a LOT of posters and photos of Dale Jr, they threw away taxpayer dollars. That should have even the non Dale Jr fans outraged! What a WASTE!

On April 25th-26th, 2011, there will be a day dedicated to people who are battling depression and suicide and to advocate a lifestyle of unconditional love. on this day, draw a heart on your wrist, to symbolize that you are wearing your heart on your sleeve. ask someone how they’re doing. tell someone you love them. nobody should have to feel so bad about themselves that they take their own life. take this challenge. save someone’s life.
