Libby and the bad attitude that was sent packing.

Tuesday, September 21, 2010

I needed a huge attitude adjustment today. Fortunately for me, I have Libby.

I was running behind all day, orienting a Home Health RN to Home Hospice and I didn't do my charting at all. Don't get me wrong, I love orienting new people and my chosen career path. But every once in a while one of "those" days gets thrown in.

So... I'm back at the office, trying to 'hurry up and get it done so I can start all over again tomorrow.' I thought I was hiding out pretty well, I was in the conference room. Everyone else was in the office chatting.

Last I looked at the clock it was 4:40. I heard a voice, 'Hey are you ready?' For what? What time is it? 5:00. My shoes are in the car, my mat is in the trunk. I haven't had time for lunch and what is a pee break again?? So I decided to take lunch. I've never have taken lunch at 5PM, just worked straight through until I was done.

Libby led the circuit training. It's the first time I've actually been at the office on time for it and it was a blast. My bad attitude was kicked to the curb and I was able to finish the rest of my work in about 30 minutes instead of the hour it probably would've taken.

I got home, made dinner, didn't growl at anyone and am smiling as I write this.

It is ending up to be a great night after all. :)
Happy Sparking.

Sept 8th Summary

Wednesday, September 08, 2010

I'm so excited. One of the physical therapists at work has put together an exercise group. We plan to meet M-F after work and do circuit training. Our wonderful director has given us the space to do this!! The group officially started on Tuesday;I'm starting tomorrow. :) I have a new hiking partner; we go every Sunday. Our average has been about 3 hours. If we keep up at this rate, we'll have the whole trail done in about 6 months, weather permitting.

I listed some goals for yesterday and met a few of them. Here goes.
1. Did not meet; hit the snooze 3 times.. Didn't exercise before work- but I did go afterwards.
2. I did pack lunches for myself and the boys.
3. I did track my intake, was totally honest. I went over on my calories and fat; didn't hit the minimum on carbs. I have that problem a lot.
4. 8 glasses of water- met.
5. Busted- went through the drive through this morning because we slept and slept and slept. No time to eat at home.
6. Treasure Isle is still the devil and I played a little bit today. I've been on the computer for longer than my allowed 30 minutes.

Do I feel bad about not making all of my goals? Yes. But not terrible. I'm getting back on track and that feels good. My goals for tomorrow are the same with the exception that I'm going to work out after I get off, I like sleeping in to much.

Good for you! I think it is great that you do not "beat up on yourself" for not meeting all your goals one day...that never helps anyone. You have the right attitude...just stay present today and look forward to tomorrow. Good luck with the exercise class, and keep us posted!

Okay, put the alarm clock on the other side of the bedroom so you have to get up to hit the snooze button. And while you're up, keep moving!

How great to have this group right at work!

You sense of purpose is right on. You are not going to "try" to meet your goals...you did what you could and tomorrow will do the same. No beating up...no giving up. Your attitude is one of purpose and intention, you are strong.

Here's to another healthy, happy day!

That is great that you have the opportunity to exercise after work. Doing it with people you work with will really help you stay on track in the exercise department. Good luck with your other goals. Hiking every Sunday sounds wonderful:)

Getting real: Goals for 9/8/10

Tuesday, September 07, 2010

I guess the trick is going to be to write my goals for the following day before I go to bed. It's to easy to say 'I'll do it tomorrow.' I'm letting you all know that I'm putting myself on notice. I'll check back in tomorrow to let you all know how I've done.

1. Get up and exercise. No sleeping in or hitting the snooze.
2. Pack healthy lunches for myself and the boys.
3. Track my intake....and be honest. Even that Werther's is going on the list if it goes in my mouth.
4. 8 glasses of water.
5. Trips through the drive through are not allowed. Those calories COUNT!!
6. Treasure Isle on Face Book is the Devil (jk) and I'm not playing it... I'm limiting computer time to 30 minutes- this includes Spark People. I get more Energy from Spark People than Treasure Isle. And the energy translates into real life.

Okay that's it for tonight..

Happy Sparking everyone!

Sounds like a great idea! Mind if I steal it??? I don't play on FB, but I used to spend lots of time on Neopets. Now if I'm on the computer, it's a pretty safe bet that I am here on SparkPeople.

Getting back to it. Motivation needed.

Sunday, August 29, 2010

I've been really distracted with life these last few weeks and haven't been paying much attention to what I am eating. What is exercise again? I think I forgot for a while. The weight has started to pile back on and I'm not happy about it. I don't feel as good when I'm not eating well and exercising. I felt great just a few weeks ago.

There has to be some deeper reason why I'm not doing it. Why have I sabotaged myself? How do I move past it? I swore I would never do this to myself and I did it again.

My goal for today is to review stage 1. I'll put in 30 minutes on the bike today too. Self discipline... I tell my kids every day that they are responsible for their own actions and choices. The last few weeks are on me. I hope to turn them into something positive and start over.

It's a learning process and... those pounds can come back fast if you don't pay attention...

I missed you and had hoped nothing was wrong! On the good side thought maybe you were on vacation. Life does get in the way of our good intentions sometimes. Just take it one day at a time. Glad you are back!

Hooray! Welcome back!! It's so frustrating when we don't do what we know we should do. We've ALL been there. I've been struggling a little, too, with motivation to get to the gym. But we are going to DO this!

So glad you're back!

emoticon You can do this!!! I know you can, you have done so well up to now and you have come so far. Don't give up.

As to why we sabotage ourselves/ That's something I have asked myself many times over and over. I know what to do, so why don't I do it??
So if you figure that out let me know emoticon

Keep going......

I agree wholehearteddly with you. In fact, last week I pooped out on the gym by Wednesday because of extra commitments at night, thinking I needed my "rest." I feel more awful having stayed away from exercise than if I would have continued with my early morning workouts. (I've just been dragging my butt all weekend.)

I continue with my 2 steps forward and one step back ... all I can say is at least I'm gaining ground (slowly but surely.)

Thanks for sharing, it makes me feel like I'm not alone in the fight. emoticon emoticon

It sounds like you've got a really good plan to get back on track and just logging in today is a huge step in the right direction.

Don't be discouraged, just keep on keeping on!

Isn't it the greatest when someone notices...even though we like to say we aren't doing it for others - the validation that someone sees the hard work we are putting in gives an extra boost. :)
