Biding My Time

Friday, July 12, 2013

Well, I had my IV port inserted, as well as my consult with the Interventional Radiologist. Now I wait for the authorization for the vertebroplasty.

I am unable to be very active, actually I am not supposed to do much of anything at all emoticon

I am trying to be positive, so I am spending most of my time crocheting baby things. Quite a few family members and friends are being blessed with new little ones, so I am stocking up on Baby Shower Gifts.

Our nephew and his wife are avid Arizona Cardinal fans like John and I. Their baby is due in November...Football Season emoticon so I decided to create a Baby Cardinals Football Helmet instead of a regular hat to match the Baby Sacks that I make. Here are a few pics of the end result on my doll model!

Now I am off to try to divide my time between crocheting and playing Words With Friends emoticon

They are GREAT! Do you sell them? How long does it take you to make the hat? I see it is the "Cardinals". You are very creative. You should be proud. emoticon

Well, late yesterday afternoon, I heard from our Interventional Radiology Scheduler. I am scheduled for Tuesday, July2nd for the insertion of a PORT for access to my venous system for meds and blood draws. I've been on steroids all my life for asthma and they have destroyed the integrity of my veins. I am so tired of getting poked for blood and IVs anywhere from 5 to >20 times. If they get an IV started, it one day it usually "blows" (infiltrates) and then they have to try to start another one. I am praying that this port will solve that issue. It's so hard when you can't breath and they cannot get an IV in to give you the meds you need emoticon

On Wednesday, I will have my consult for the Vertebroplasty. I'm kind of anxious about this, but I hope it will take away the pain and allow me to regain my mobility. Being a nurse, I'm aware of all the benefits and risks, yet sometimes knowing this stuff makes it scarier emoticon

At least I now have a plan in action and will pray to achieve and maintain a positive outlook!!

Thank you for all your well-wishes and prayers emoticon

I just have to leave you with a few inspirational thoughts:

I watched them put a port in Tom's upper arm and route it over to just above his heart when he was hospitalized. (His wasn't implanted) It was quite interesting. It definitely saved on trouble putting IV's in. Hope you're feeling better soon.

I'm so glad you have dates for when things are going to progress. Oh my gosh, I have such compassion for what you are going through with all that poking and prodding. A good friend of mine had a port for years and it made her treatments so much easier on her. emoticon

Still Waiting!

Wednesday, June 26, 2013

Another day I wait to hear from the Dr. or the Insurance Company emoticon

I continue to wear my brace and pray for the courage to be positive and calm.

All things in HIS time...not mine!

I thought after the IVC Filter was removed and I felt so great, things would continue to improve and I could get back on the fitness bandwagon!
Guess that really wasn't the plan for me. It turns out the pain came back with a vengeance and after 7 hours in the ER and multiple x-rays and CTs, we found that I actually "Broke my Back"! I have several compression fractures to the lumbar vertebrae and a few to the transverse processes. I am trying very hard to "LOVE" my new brace that must be worn at all times and to be positive. This is where my Inspirational quotes come in.
I'd like to share a few with you:

I love them all!!! But the last one is one that really brings truth to so many days. Loving and knowing the LORD is how we can see the beauty in our situations. knowing HE is always with us because we believe HIS promise of never leaving us. emoticon
