Lost Blog!

Last week I wrote a really nice blog and the internet ate it. I hope the internet didn't gain any weight because it was a really sweet blog about sitting on the patio with my loved one and eating a healthful meal that we made together. We were talking and listening to the birds and the kids playing in the playground in the background.

I was ticked off that I lost it and haven't written since, but I need to write this week because Thursday is my one year Sparkiversary. I need to commemorate it in some way....Maybe I should go out to eat!

Well, I'm just in a silly mood tonight, so I'll write more later.

    I hate when that happens. But being silly with the one you love is part of practicing for retirement. So have at it. How is his wrist BTW?

The internet eats my spark blogs all the time. I've gotten into the habit of typing them up in Word or in Notepad and saving them before posting them up on the site, that way if the internet needs a snack, I still have a copy!

    I know this is very frustrating when that happens. I write mine in Word and transfer it over to try to prevent this from happening.

    emoticonSorry you lost you lovely blog! I think it has happened to us all at one time or the other! I learned my lesson. I now write mine on my note pad or someplace else and save it before transferring it to my blog, this way by chance, it doesn't take..I have it, to re-post .Just in case I miss your blog this week...HAPPY 1ST ANNIVERSARY!

Just Practicing!

I've been at home with DH for 3 days now after getting back from Texas. He has an all day function in Denver today so we didn't go to the cabin this weekend. I decided to practice being retired! I love it!

I have been shopping, to the gym, walking, biking, gardening, reading, organizing my closets and just generally doing what I feel like when I feel like it!
I love it!

I have also been looking for a reasonably priced individual health insurance policy that will cover me with my bad back so that maybe I could retire early. Wish me luck!

Don't you only have one more year to go? Not all that long...see you love it already. Just don't get yourself too busy when you do retire. I am in that mode and trying to get out of it. emoticon Save some time for DH emoticon although you always have the cabin....jealous me

A Week in Texas!

My daughter finally closed on her house and moved from the big city to a small town this weekend. I offered to help with the move, so DH and I went to help her and her family. She was so well organized that we didn't have as much to do as I thought we would, but we still worked hard...and had some fun too!

It takes us 8 hours to drive there and another day back, so only 5 days were actual work days. I knew my eating healthfully would be a challenge, but I did it. I was within my calories, etc 5 of the 7 days. We ate at Subway for lunch there and back and I brought 2 coolers of healthful food for breakfasts and lunch the 2 days we would be without DD's refrigerator. So my snacking, breakfasts and lunches went well. For dinners, we ate out and I found that a challenge since I don't eat out much. I just decided to be picky and discriminating and if I couldn't find a "lite" or healthy choice on the menu, I asked the waitress for grilled meat and steamed veggies without butter. I did really well. The 2 days I ate over my limit were Memorial Day and the day after. I did eat BBQ and had some Hard Lemonade and wine. I thoroughly enjoyed my DS in law's cooking and made conscious decisions to eat and drink what I did. I didn't have internet during the trip, but I wrote everything down and tracked it when I got back. It was a real test to see how well I could do just judging on my own. I also wasn't able to weigh until I got back.

THIS MORNING I WEIGHED 198 POUNDS! I LOST A POUND LAST WEEK!

    I was looking at your page and you have done great.
I'm sure you will not have any problem losing the rest of the weight you want to lose.
You were saying on Spark café you felt 40 today. I do too.
That's something I very rarely think about is age. I'm too busy.
Well I have to take that back, when I'm on my program and doing my exercise and calorie counting I feel 40 when I don't I get about 100. So there! We know what to do to feel great and for myself I just need to stick with it, get it off once and for all and maintain.

Killer Workout!

This morning I was getting ready to go to the Rec Center for my Wednesday spinning class, but I didn't feel like spinning. So instead I decided to do 10 minutes on 4 different pieces of equipment, do the weight machines for 10 minutes and stretch for 10 minutes. I ended up walking around the track as a warmup for 10 minutes, the stair stepper (which I had never tried before) for 5 minutes. (I nearly died...therefore the Killer part of the workout!), 10 minutes on the elliptical and 10 min on the stationary bike doing hills, another killer.

I worked on the machines and then stretched for a total of 68 minutes. I felt great, all sweaty and proud of myself. When I checked my HRM, I found I had burned 718 calories.

    You did 10 minutes on the elliptical--WOW! I know what you mean about the stair stepper. 5 minutes is a triumph for me. This sounds interesting. I think I'll try this tomorrow at the gym. Thanks for the idea.

    emoticonYou are really doing fantastic! emoticonWe all must Shake up our routine every now and then...put some spice in our life..so to speak!

That is just like walking, they say to change your route around to make your walk more interesting. So I believe we should change our work out routines also to make our life more fun!

Entering Onederland!

One my way to work the first day I was 199. It's been 25 years since I've been in the 100's.

That's my bike shorts and shirt on the chair from the spinning class I went to before work. I have my step counter on (13873 so far today).

My DH suggested I tuck my blouse in. I'm not comfortable yet tucking my blouse in and wearing a belt, but I did it for part of the day. I feel self conscious, but I will keep doing it until I get comfortable.

I think I will get more comfortable here in onederland one day at a time! emoticon
