Exercise Buddy

Thursday, April 01, 2010

A colleague at work stopped me in the hallway yesterday to comment on my weight loss. After we talked she asked where I exercise and expressed interest in exercising with me. Another person overheard her and offered her a free pass to the Rec Center. She goes to a different gym. So....Monday after work my colleague and I are going to the gym together!

How to Stay Young

Wednesday, March 31, 2010

I don't usually send out stuff like this, but I was really impressed with an email I received!

1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay 'them'

2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.

3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle. 'An idle mind is the devil's workshop.'And the devil's name is Alzheimer's.

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.

6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person, who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love , whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; to a foreign country but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

Worry about nothing, pray about everything!!!

I Don't Understand it, But its OK!

Monday, March 29, 2010

When my grandkids were here, I exercised more than I ever had and I felt great! Jogging, Swimming, Skating, even Skiing! The next week I was exhausted...I really am 62 not 35! LOL

This last week I cut down on my exercising while staying within my calorie goals...That is until the weekend. I ate over 2000 calories Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I went to a spinning class Friday, rested on Saturday and hiked on Sunday.

Today I was down a pound! I don't get it but I like it. emoticon

Well it looks like you changed up your routine a bit, confused you metabolism and somehow the pound was lost! I agree with Lou, not too many of those 2000 calories dinners because they may catch up with you. Glad you got in your exercise!

Don't question it, just go with it! LOL. Seriously though, good for you. It looks like all that activity really agrees with you. And I had a weekend of higher calories too but I think sometimes you just need that to fuel all that fun stuff. Listen to your body and I'd say you're doing just fine. And I'm sure your grandkids love every minute of it :-) Have a great week!

Yesterday was a better day but I spent a lot of time finishing up loose ends from the day before.

I am psyched! I have had fibro all week and I really didn't want to go to my Master's swim class last nite. DH even said he thought I should stay home. But I went and had a ball. I worked hard on my backstroke and came home feeling much better. I still feel great this am!

Work Woes

Thursday, March 25, 2010

I have had a rough week at work. I'm not complaining (this time! lol) just stating a fact. I had a backlog when I started the week on Monday, my supervisor decided to have me start training my replacement this week, we had an unexpected new employee that I needed to train starting Tuesday, my vaccine refrigerator stopped working Tuesday and I had to transfer all my vaccines to 3 different refrigerators, a shipment of vaccines was left out on my desk without ice by a shipping clerk, my yearly conference (which was going to be in Nashville) scheduled for April was cancelled due to financial constraints, and I had administer and read the PPD tests to all our physicians this week. I am tired and cranky. Can't wait for the weekend. (tomorrow for me!) I sure hope we can make it to the cabin this weekend.

Thanks for listening to me vent. I am hoping that by writing this I can start the day off today with a clear mind and have a better day. Wish me luck.
