Spring Skiing

Wednesday, February 24, 2010

I am so excited! My 2 DGDs (ages 11 and 13) are going to spend their spring break with us. We are going to go skiing and ice skating. They have been all fired up about the Olympics and wanted to go skiing. I though of adding the ice skating. Our outdoor rink closes the day they arrive so we'll have to go to an indoor rink but I know we'll have fun!

Here's a picture of the girls while they were spending a week at the cabin last summer.

Well, I was going to add a picture, but the function isn't working on Spark. You'll just have to imagine the cutest little 13 year old and 11 year old girls you can!!!

I tried again and was successful!

Looks as if the picture worked... I'm so happy for you and a tad envious. I miss mine when they were younger and used to come to our cabin. Now they're college and career bound...Time goes so fast so enjoy. Those girls are beautiful, and having such a fun time at Grandma's.

Shriner's Pancake Breakfast for Supper at I Hop

Tuesday, February 23, 2010

IHOP had a national pancake day to benefit Shriner's hospitals today so DH and I had an early supper. I had 3 buttermilk pancakes, sugar free syrup, marg, egg beaters senior omelet with pepper, onion, and mushrooms. MMM mmm good! Supper was 750 calories but I stayed under my 1600 for the day! emoticon

Its nice to be able to enjoy food without guilt, knowing that I am staying within my guidelines and making the best choices under the circumstances. Food should be fun...not deprivation.

Ready for a Walk

Monday, February 22, 2010

We had a cold lazy weekend by the fire. I am ready for a little less snow and a little more warmth. I haven't been able to walk outside for over a week because of all the ice on the ground. I've fallen twice so I stopped trying to do it. I walk on the treadmill, with Leslie and around the halls at work but the mood boost just isn't the same as walking outside. I'm glad my DH walks our dog daily because Bucky really loves his walks.

I know what you mean. I miss my outside walks too. It has been months since I have been out to walk. Better safe inside though, at least until Spring is here or the ice/snow melts.

You are a better woman than I am. I haven't been outside walking since the weather got so cold. I do all my walking at the gym on the treadmill or elliptical. I have to say that I can't wait til the weather breaks and I can go outside again. Keep up your spirits and "Walk power walk, walk power walk". emoticon

Walking is important but staying safe is equally as important. Falling doesn't help our backs!!!!! So walk inside till that ice is gone.
No walking for me today, it's pouring rain outside. But that's better than snow, at least I don't have to shovel it. emoticon

Take it easy my friend. We don't want you to hurt yourself. I totally understand about the energy level from inside exercising to the out of doors exercising. It will get better soon....so hang in there!!

Just read someone else's blog about walking outside on ice with shoes made in Sweden called Icebugs... I googled them, they have retractable studs on the bottom and sound like they will get you outside! I would rather workout outside, but it just has been nasty here too....sigh....

Feeling Groovy

Friday, February 19, 2010

I feel so good. I've been off my antidepressant for a week and have been worried the cloud would come back but so far so good. I feel strong, powerful, good. I am so glad I have started taking care of myself. Exercise is so essential. It really helps lift my mood.
Depression has been part of my life for so long, I can hardly believe that I am feeling the way I am without any drugs. I will keep an eye on my mood but I believe that if I stay motiviated, focused and active I can stay un depressed. Wish me luck.

Wow!! I want to be at that point one day. Let us know how it is going. I have thought about it but haven't quite dare do it. Maybe I will try cutting it in half first.

The Beat Goes On....La de da de da

Thursday, February 18, 2010

Tonight I go to my 2nd Beginning Masters class. I'm really looking forward to it. I can wear my new heart rate monitor. The chest strap doesn't even show under my swim suit. I don't really burn a lot of calories in the class because I only end up swimming about 20 min of the hour...or at least that's what happened last week. I used the monitor this morning for my Cardioke session on Exercise TV and I burned 340 calories in 24 minutes. I burned 600 last Friday in the spin class...Wow, who would have known. I can't wait to do that again on Friday.

I must have had 16 people at work today notice my weight loss and comment on it. My body must have made some kind of subtle adjustment so my shape looks better or I should never throw away the outfit I have on. lol.

The forecast says snow all weekend so I don't know if I'll be able to trek in the mountains this weekend but I can do my dance DVD or walk with Leslie.

That's pretty awesome! I'd like to be able to keep track of how many calories I'm burning when I exercise. I think I have a very inflated idea of how much I accomplish when I'm exercising, which leads me to be sloppy about my diet. What's the name of that monitor?

Can't wait to hear!

Wow, that is pretty impressive. What kind of heart rate monitor is it? I didn't realize you could wear them in the water. Terrific job!

You are doing an amazing job! I think I should add a heart monitor, as well! I really have not given that much thought...as I was struggling for quite a while (seemed like forever). Now that I am back on track, I have a more optimistic view of what comes next and your blog helped me see that I am missing out on so many options!

Thank you for being such a great example and friend!
