Feeling Groovy

I feel so good. I've been off my antidepressant for a week and have been worried the cloud would come back but so far so good. I feel strong, powerful, good. I am so glad I have started taking care of myself. Exercise is so essential. It really helps lift my mood.
Depression has been part of my life for so long, I can hardly believe that I am feeling the way I am without any drugs. I will keep an eye on my mood but I believe that if I stay motiviated, focused and active I can stay un depressed. Wish me luck.

    Wow!! I want to be at that point one day. Let us know how it is going. I have thought about it but haven't quite dare do it. Maybe I will try cutting it in half first.

The Beat Goes On....La de da de da

Tonight I go to my 2nd Beginning Masters class. I'm really looking forward to it. I can wear my new heart rate monitor. The chest strap doesn't even show under my swim suit. I don't really burn a lot of calories in the class because I only end up swimming about 20 min of the hour...or at least that's what happened last week. I used the monitor this morning for my Cardioke session on Exercise TV and I burned 340 calories in 24 minutes. I burned 600 last Friday in the spin class...Wow, who would have known. I can't wait to do that again on Friday.

I must have had 16 people at work today notice my weight loss and comment on it. My body must have made some kind of subtle adjustment so my shape looks better or I should never throw away the outfit I have on. lol.

The forecast says snow all weekend so I don't know if I'll be able to trek in the mountains this weekend but I can do my dance DVD or walk with Leslie.

    That's pretty awesome! I'd like to be able to keep track of how many calories I'm burning when I exercise. I think I have a very inflated idea of how much I accomplish when I'm exercising, which leads me to be sloppy about my diet. What's the name of that monitor?

    Wow, that is pretty impressive. What kind of heart rate monitor is it? I didn't realize you could wear them in the water. Terrific job!

    You are doing an amazing job! I think I should add a heart monitor, as well! I really have not given that much thought...as I was struggling for quite a while (seemed like forever). Now that I am back on track, I have a more optimistic view of what comes next and your blog helped me see that I am missing out on so many options!

Financial Planning

Its been a busy week and I haven't been able to Spark as much as usual but I'm back now. The best thing I did was to visit with our financial planner and finalize the plans we have made for me to retire in December. Everything is in place and I feel confident about our decision. I am especially happy that I will be entering this new stage of my life more fit than I have ever been. We are even going to try to get me Long Term Care insurance. I was turned down a few years ago because of my health and weight status. Everything has improved so much that we are going to give it another try. I am still in the obese category and my degenerative disc disease and spinal fusion are still present so I might not get it, but we are going to try.

    We share the degenerative disc disease, and I sure wish neither of us had it! I've been down for the count for a week now -- unable to walk or do other exercise, all because I sat in folding chairs at my grandkids' dance recitals. And despite two visits to the chiropractor. It feels a bit better today, maybe I'm on the road to recovery, and exercising! emoticon

  We were able to get long term insurance for husband had open hearst surgery 18 years ago but, he could not get regular health insurance because of coumdin that he take. Go figure.

Is it Maturity or Old Age?

Yesterday was an off day for me. I hadn't slept well for a couple of nights in a row and I was very tired. As the old saying goes - HALT when you are Hungry, Angy, Lonely or Tired. I was hungry and tired -- I ate over my limit and only did my strength training, no cardio.

Well, in my "maturity" in this program, I am putting that behind me and doing my regular routine today after a good night's sleep. I should have just gone to bed last night, but I didn't. Today, I am back on program. Older and Wiser.

Winter in the Mountains

It was a cold snowy, blowy weekend at the cabin. I did trek for an hour on Saturday but it was cold, snowy and icy. I took one really hard fall on the ice so I decided not to go out on Sunday which was even colder (22), snowier and blowier than Saturday. So I sat by the fire and read on Sunday. Even without exercising on Sunday I lost 2 lbs this week.

So I read, finished entering January in our budget and started arranging our files for submitting our 2009 takes, oops I mean taxes. So it was a productive day. It was good to get home and see some of the Olympics. I really admire those athletes.
