Dinner Out

Thursday, January 21, 2010

Yesterday wasn't one of my best. I ate over my specified number of calories and I only did 10 min of aerobic exercise. Today will be and actually already is a better day. I exercised 30 min this am and did the Spark Challenge video before I came to work. I am well within my calories because I am going to eat out tonight so I am keeping breakfast and dinner low. My plan is to have a vegetable salad with vinaigrette dressing before I leave. We are going to The Rib House so I pulled up the menu and will have the smallest portion of ribs with the salad instead of the sides (baked beans, cole slaw, creamed corn, potato salad). Send good vibes my way. Luckily, I'm not crazy about BBQ so my portions should be ok.

Bootcamp Challenge

Wednesday, January 20, 2010

The challenge has been absolutely amazing for me. In 2 weeks I have actually lost 10 pounds. I have done every video and most of the optional challenges. This blog is today's optional challenge. I have developed a new workout schedule. Instead of doing 20 - 30 minutes of aerobic activity in the morning before work, I do 10 minutes to an Exercise TV video, then the bootcamp challenge. I also do strength and stretching with my DH on M-W-F. He slipped on the ice down a hill at the cabin this weekend and couldn't work out on Monday. His knee is feeling better today so we will try.

My food has been good during the challenge. We are making crock pot stews and soups and we ordered a blender online for my smoothies. I've been using a stick blender to make my smoothies and DH said we should get a blender. Woo Hoo.

He has been so helpful. He has supper ready when I get home from work. Last night he had made a beef casserole that had too many calories to fit into my day so he grilled up a turkey burger which I had with salad and green beans and I came in right on target.

This bootcamp has really revved up my program.

Fantastic! You have really been working the bootcamp hard and all your hard work is paying off handsomely. How lucky you are to have a supportive hubby, too.

Changed My Mind

Tuesday, January 19, 2010

I think I will keep up my daily blogs instead of journaling. I know, I know, I've only done 2 days of journaling but I don't put anything in my journals I wouldn't put in a blog and most of all I miss my friend's comments on my blogs. So I am back to being a blogger. I will try to keep the concept of journaling in my mind, and when I have a big problem, I will journal, but on paper not in the computer. I can let my pen fly on paper a lot faster than my fingers stumble on the keyboard.

So, I'm back with my daily blogs. emoticon

I've decided to change my goal of blogging every day. Now, I'm going to journal at least 3 x week. I like blogging but I think journaling might be useful for me at this point of my journey.

Do any of you journal? What do you think?

Journaling is something I have always wanted to do. I start and I stop and I start and I stop. I think because I have gotten discouraged if I didn't do it every day. But that should not be the case as there isn't always something to say. The journaling vs blogging perk would be that you would always have it to look back on. Computers crash and things get wiped away. Plus you can write anything in a journal that you don't necessarily want shared in a blog.

Thanks for the support! I'll probably do both since I don't have Internet on the weekends.

I write a lot. It is the easiest way to get things off my chest, lol. I don't usually share any of it though. Sometimes I just crumble it up and toss! I am all for doing this, good luck on your new goal. Are you going to do it online or in a notebook?

Another Lesson Learned

Friday, January 15, 2010

I didn't do well last night. I had a low calorie day, then got hungry when I went to bed. I haven't eaten late at night for a long time but I did it last night and ended up over my calorie range. I had only done 30 min of walking yesterday so I didn't burn many calories. I did snack on healthy food but I went over my calories by 400. ooops! I actually ate more calories than I burned yesterday which I haven't done in months.

I think that the lessons I learned were:
1. I didn't eat junk, I ate healthy food so I did get some nutrients
2. I don't do well with deprivation
3. I should try to stay in the middle of my calorie range
4. I will get right back on the program today

No reason to beat myself up, I am learning lessons.

Thanks so much for sharing this....it makes me realize that even those who are doing really well (you) sometimes mess up, and as you said in #4, you just get right back on the program. Gives me great motivation to "get right back on the program" too!

Nancy, NOT to worry...did you read Coach Dean's blog two days ago? If not, here is the link...

You will probably have to paste it in your address bar since there is not an "add a link" button on this page. But, I thought it awesome and agree with his blog.

ONE day never hurt anyone and I especially agree with your nummber 2. I don't do well with deprivation. You are STILL doing awesomely in my eyes!
