I've decided to change my goal of blogging every day. Now, I'm going to journal at least 3 x week. I like blogging but I think journaling might be useful for me at this point of my journey.

Do any of you journal? What do you think?

Journaling is something I have always wanted to do. I start and I stop and I start and I stop. I think because I have gotten discouraged if I didn't do it every day. But that should not be the case as there isn't always something to say. The journaling vs blogging perk would be that you would always have it to look back on. Computers crash and things get wiped away. Plus you can write anything in a journal that you don't necessarily want shared in a blog.

Thanks for the support! I'll probably do both since I don't have Internet on the weekends.

I write a lot. It is the easiest way to get things off my chest, lol. I don't usually share any of it though. Sometimes I just crumble it up and toss! I am all for doing this, good luck on your new goal. Are you going to do it online or in a notebook?

Another Lesson Learned

Friday, January 15, 2010

I didn't do well last night. I had a low calorie day, then got hungry when I went to bed. I haven't eaten late at night for a long time but I did it last night and ended up over my calorie range. I had only done 30 min of walking yesterday so I didn't burn many calories. I did snack on healthy food but I went over my calories by 400. ooops! I actually ate more calories than I burned yesterday which I haven't done in months.

I think that the lessons I learned were:
1. I didn't eat junk, I ate healthy food so I did get some nutrients
2. I don't do well with deprivation
3. I should try to stay in the middle of my calorie range
4. I will get right back on the program today

No reason to beat myself up, I am learning lessons.

Thanks so much for sharing this....it makes me realize that even those who are doing really well (you) sometimes mess up, and as you said in #4, you just get right back on the program. Gives me great motivation to "get right back on the program" too!

I think it's great that you can find something that you learned in every process. It takes you to the next level of awareness. emoticon

Nancy, NOT to worry...did you read Coach Dean's blog two days ago? If not, here is the link...

You will probably have to paste it in your address bar since there is not an "add a link" button on this page. But, I thought it awesome and agree with his blog.

ONE day never hurt anyone and I especially agree with your nummber 2. I don't do well with deprivation. You are STILL doing awesomely in my eyes!

Going to the cabin!

Thursday, January 14, 2010

Really excited to go to the cabin since we couldn't go last weekend. I hope I can do the Challenge without my internet connection. I printed out the sheets for Sat and Sunday's videos and I'll do Friday's before I leave.

I walked a different route at lunch and went to a small grocery store. I went in to see if they had Kashi granola bars, but they didn't have them. They have more protein and fewer sugars than the Quaker bars I have been eating.

Nothing else going on. Have a nice weekend everyone!

Have a WONDERFUL weekend, Nancy! You know I envy you. I hope you find the Kashi bars, Kashi Go Lean is the only cereal I will eat and I have gotten so many others hooked on it. Kashi anything is great.
Again, enjoy your weekend.

Enjoying the Attention

Wednesday, January 13, 2010

When I have lost weight in the past, I was always embarrassed when someone mentioned that I had lost weight, or that I looked good. This time, I don't feel uncomfortable at all. I feel great. I think that previously I have worried that I would gain the weight back. This time I'm not worried about that at all. I am learning ways to live for the rest of my life. I also worried about the possibility of attracting male attention. I'm not worried about that any more. I am confident this time. I know who I am and what I want.

Does anybody identify with this?

I think this time we are doing it for ourselves. Before we just did it because we thought we had to. New attitude=new life

I always try to deny that I've lost any weight. I usually make some kind of joke, like oh, it just shifted around or no, this has always been baggy. Now if I continue to lose weight, which I hope I will, I will say YES I am! and I am doing it to be healthy.

I also relate to how you feel this time losing the weight. For me, it was the difference in getting older and losing weight for HEALTH and not SKINNY. For me, it is no longer a choice and that has made it much easier. I feel better than I did in my 20s and who can argue with that?

Glad you are progressing so well!

I can totally relate to what you wrote! GOOD FOR YOU! I hope I feel as great when I hit 50lbs as you do! I think the difference this time, for me, is that as I gradually head toward my weight loss & fitness goals, I'm also heading toward my healthy thinking goals.

Yes, I do I used to be thin then i gained weight and everybody wanted to say something about that. Now that i have lost 90 pounds I feel good and positive and I know what I was doing wrong so I am sure I can keep it off. I never ate alot but I was a maid so I never gained weight but after I started working in an office all the weight poured on. Trust me I know just how you feel and it is a GREAT FEELING!!!! emoticon

Sparked and Sparking

Tuesday, January 12, 2010

Not much to say today. Life is Good. I am feeling strong, healthy and confident. Even work is going better. I would still rather be at home, but I can be productive at work and the day goes by faster. I feel so blessed to have found this web site. I have tried to Spark to friends, but they just don't seem interested. I think you have to be ready for this kind of a life change. Most people want a quick fix to their weight problems. I will keep sparking. When someone is ready they will at least know that the site exists.

It was several years from the first time I heard about SP until I finally joined last year. You are right - people are ready when they are ready.

I think you are right Nancy. People have to be ready otherwise they think we are preachy. Everyone is looking for the quick fix and it just isn't there. Glad to hear you are feeling great again. emoticon
