I'm Really Sparking Along Today!

Wednesday, January 06, 2010

Today, Day 4 of the Spark your body challenge, I have a better attitude. After reading several suggestions from friends, I sat down and made a vision collage for my vision of retirement next year. I am going to try and take a picture of it tonight and post it. (Wish me luck!).

I also walked for 15 minutes in snow and 20 degree weather, but my heart was warm!

I have been doing the videos and I joined the Unofficial Spark Your Body Bootcamp Team.

Man, Just pat me on the back, I am cookin'....

emoticon emoticon

I think I'll give myself a goodie for breaking out of my bad attitude yesterday!

great change around Nancy. Knew you could do it.

I went to check out the goodie you were giving yourself. I rolled over in laughter as I thought you were giving yourself "the man". Great thought though. emoticon

I Don't Want to Work!!!!

Tuesday, January 05, 2010

I am having a big attitude crisis right now. I will be retiring in December 2010 so I have less than a year to work. It's all I can focus on. The reason I have to keep working is for health insurance. Because of several health issues (including obesity!) I can't get private coverage so I have to wait until I have 18 months left for Medicare Health Insurance. That way I can use Cobra for 18 months.

I just don't want to work any more. I am letting my thoughts take me over. I just don't want to go to work. I hate being at work. I am bored. I am frustrated. I took an easier job 2 years ago so I could slow down for retirement, but now I am bored, bored, bored. Nothing interests me at work and I am not working to my full potential. I have just lost my motivation. And now its affecting my eating. I ate way over my calories yesterday and I don't want to keep doing that.

I try to get interested in things at work but I just can't. Sorry for the rant, but this is just obsessing me right now and I had to write about it.

sometimes you just got to let it out, there is nothing worse the doing something you don't like, My husband is seventy, he still works like yourself he does it for the health coverage, he has the culinary which is about one of the best, but he actually likes his work, anyway it is good for the soul to rant and rave sometimes, Happy New Year

Ranting is good. Better than eating. Hang in there. When I retired the last few months were sooo long. Time will pass. Keeping a blog is a great idea.

Get it out get it out! The time will go by very quickly. Trust me I have been there. In the meantime can you find some volunteer work that will tax your brain and be very rewarding? That will change your attitude big time. If you haven't read it, go to a blog by FOUNDAGAIN1. It will make you see things in a whole new light.

This too shall pass. emoticon

I certainly understand what you are saying. I don't know what to suggest but try to think of anything/everything positive about having a job in this economy. Is there any way you can change the most boring part of your job? Are there other things you can do at work to make time seem to go faster? Good luck...this time next year you will be wondering where 2010 went so fast....Hang in there Sharon J

I know it is hard. My husband's plant closed down and he had open heart surgery 18 years ago. He takes a certain pills insurance company calls it a high risk drug. Cannot get regular insurance. It cost alot of money and the coverage is not the best. Lucky we had saved up money for this. But, he get so mad after 40 years at the plant and now he has to pay. So try and stay. In the long run you will come out ahead. Sorry, I didn't mean to get carried away.

Daisy, I understand totally. I also felt like that before I retired. But try to think of it this way...look how time flies for us now that we are "older" I can't believe it. Can you believe that Christmas has passed??? And that the year is 2010? That would have seemed like Buck Roger's time to me when I was younger and here we are.
Try to start doing things in your off time that keep you so motivated and you can look forward to while working. Do you do crafts of any sort? Or quilt or crochet? Before you know it this year will be done too!
Go ahead and rant...get it out of your system and I agree with RITAROSE think of your food regimen and so on. Just keep your mind so occupied that you can't stress!

So sorry to hear about your difficult situation being bored at work. Sounds like you feel trapped in your job for 12 months. I am a recovering emotional eater too. I ate because I was happy, sad, angry, tired, bored etc. etc. and I gained a 102 extra pounds. Now at age 52 I realize that because I was on a strict regimen of food tracking, daily weighing with a diabetes prevention plan along with daily exercise I accidentally unplugged the emotional eating! I was consumed with what do I need to eat and when to meet the requirements of the program I was on. I pray that you would be able to focus on setting up a plan for yourself and even being accountable to someone by giving them your food diary and exercise log weekly to help motivate you to do what you need to do and you too could unplug that emotional desire to eat for comfort instead of eating to be healthy.
I know I could slip back very fast, for now I am very thankful for eating to live not living to eat.

Glad you wrote down your feelings, it helps!

Got to Use a Christmas Present!

Monday, January 04, 2010

I got to use the stability ball DH gave me for Christmas doing the Day 2 bootcamp workout. It was very interesting. I'm just glad no one was around with a camera to preserve my attempts for posterity! I am not well balanced or graceful on a stability ball!

Day 1 of Bootcamp 2010

Sunday, January 03, 2010

I got back from the cabin late because we had to drive back thru a snow storm, but I did do the Spark Bootcamp video. I sure felt tired for only 10 min of exercise.

I weighed 228 tonight, Hope I'm back at my 225 in the morning.

My goal is to stick to my program and the bootcamp goals for the month of January.
Nothing very new or unusual - just consistent with what I've been doing.

BTW I got some kind of a consistency award from Spark -I don't know why I got it but I'll take it as a sign that my consistency has been a good thing.

Here's a picture of me on New Year's Eve 2010.

New Year's Resolution

Thursday, December 31, 2009

My New Year's Resolution is simple: to continue my new lifestyle. Continue eating healthfully, exercising sanely and sparking as often as I can. This is my last year of being a working woman and I want to make it the best I can so my DH and I can enjoy a healthful retirement.

I hope to see and hear from you all in the New Year!

Nancy
