Because my friends provided most of the food for our weekend together at the cabin, I did not eat the way I usually eat. I brought salad, so I had at least one salad a day but we didn't have any other plain vegetables....and I missed them. We had a pancake breakfast and a french toast breakfast - both of which I haven't had since I started my healthier eating plan. We had chili for one dinner and "smokies" (sausages in BBQ sauce" for the other dinner. Lunches were ham sandwiches and leftover chili. This is much heavier than I usually eat. Normally I would have been worried and probably obsessed about the "bad" food and not enjoyed myself as thoroughly as I could have, but this weekend was different. I thought about the situation and decided that since I had calorie laden food to eat, I needed to eat smaller portions...so that's what I did. I had one cup of chili instead of 2. I had never eaten the smokies before so I had about 2 oz of them (6 small sausages) which after I tracked them found out that was exactly 1 serving. I didn't eat the snacks I usually eat between meals, because honestly, I didn't feel hungry. (what a concept!)
After tracking, I found out that my calorie count was at the high end for 2 of the 3 days and 500 calories over 1 of the days. I wondered how my Monday weigh in would be, but I didn't obsess. Well, I just weighed and my weight is exactly the same as the last time. Wow. I can eat a reasonable amount of food even in an unusual circumstance. That is a really empowering feeling. I do not have to overeat. I can eat reasonably. I am really changing my attitudes as well as my lifestyle.

Had a wonderful, snowy weekend at the cabin. About 16 inches of snow. The ATV snow plow worked great and DH actually had fun doing the job of clearing our driveway. We had really good friends with us this weekend and enjoyed time with them, walking, eating, reading, watching DVD's and playing with our dogs. Life is good. Oh, I did eat too many calories but I ate small portions. We just ate highly caloric foods. I'm hoping the cold and walking in deep snow helped burn it off. I'll know tomorrow when I weigh in.

We had about 14 inches of snow this week here in town. The sun is out now and it is melting, but my DH and I are heading up to the cabin with friends. I can't wait to leave but I have to swim at the Rec Center first. Since I started swimming a month or 2 ago I just need it to fill out my exercise regime.
We bought a ATV this summer with a plow on the front. This will be the first time we get to try it out on the long driveway up to our cabin.
This weekend will probably be one of sitting by the fire talking or reading and playing board games. I don't think we will be able to walk much, but we'll see.
We made a big pot of chili to take with us and have low sugar cocoa so we will stay warm in the cabin.
I hope you all have wonderful weekends too. See you on Sunday night!

A lot of patients cancelled their appointments because of the snow, so we were all very slow. The day seemed to last for ever. Even though I was bored, I didn't snack and stayed well within my calorie limits.
I forgot my gloves so cleaning off the car was no fun. But, when I got home I lit the gas fire and my DH and I spent the evening reading by the fire. I slept well and got up late so I'm rushing (as fast as I can rush in the snow) off to work.
Have a great day, everyone.

Yesterday was one of my "hungry days", but I handled it differently than I used to do. I was really hungry after lunch, but instead of finding the cookies that are around the office, I ate a half sandwich that was in the refrigerator from yesterday's lunch and I made myself a cup of tea. When I got home DH had made a really heavy meal for supper - ham, potato, roll with broccoli and salad so I had a small portion of the ham, 1/2 the potato and 1/2 the roll with a large serving of salad and broccoli. Then I walked on the treadmill for 30 minutes after supper. I accepted the fact that my body was hungry, but I feed it nutritious extras rather than empty calories with sugar which would have probably left me more hungry. Then I used moderate exercise to increase my calorie burn. I feel like I am doing better with moderation and being aware of my body and its needs. I don't want to overdo it, but I want to lose weight.
